I guess the MODX is Yamaha‘s best value for money synth ever.
Just picked one last night. Super happy with it.
i have recently purchases MODX7 TO ADD TO MY KORG/KROME EX &ROLAND VR09. & IT IS THE PERFECT COMBO FOR ME. HAVING KEAPS OF FUN REWRITING TUNES.

Very nice! I have a couple questions that I'm wondering if you can answer: 1) Does the keyed seem sturdy enough to last? 2) Can you do audio recording onboard, or just sequencing?
Modx is made of plastic with very light key action. For a sturdy and durable synth buy montage.
You can use internal sequencer but you have to record audio on a daw. You can record audio via usb cable, so you don’t need an audio interface

Ieri sera guardavo uno dei tuoi video del Roland JD800 e mi domandavo perché non suonano più in quella maniera i synth di adesso. È solo una mia sensazione oppure c’è una effettiva mancanza di chi produce attualmente queste macchine?
ciao! una volta c'era più originalità nel suono, vuoi che la ricerca del suono più simile a quello realistico, faceva si che si creassero suoni originali più che fedeli a qualcosa che si cercava di ricreare.. purtroppo c'è anche da considerare che nell'ambito digitale abbiamo tutto che suona anche troppo bene e prefetto e questo fa si che da una parte i synth vecchi abbiamo un po' di poesia in più rispetto ai nuovi.. poi fa tanto il gusto dell'utente in base alle sonorità che uno ha in mente e a cuore! :) guarda solo il ritorno in pompa magna dell'analogico.. si è da sempre una cosa ciclica, ma ormai il digitale è combattuto dai vst (anche molto + accessibili di synth digitali), quello che suona sempre meglio è l'analogico, e se vuoi determinate cose si fanno con quello e basta! ;) o comunque suonano meglio dai! poi certi synth sono ormai storici e hanno un suono unico

@Darren Hirst No, he tried to save 30 euros and bought on internet instead from local shop. Croatia is a part of EU, not next to Zambia.
The keybed is frustrating indeed. I'm thinking to change for Modx8... Also, the sound is kind of muffy... it needs EQ edition. No Master EQ for the entire keyboard as Moxf, so u have to edit each performance and save it. That's insane and boring!

Are you serious ?? I can do better things with only a Roland MT120 Sequencer and a Roland SC88 Pro Expander for only 250 dollars on eBay. How much cost your Yamaha 1200 dollars, for THAT piece of shit sounds?!
Perhaps you are being a tad harsh... metric ton of effects and 2 deep synth engines ... from 1996 ? er no...
