- Frost is without a doubt one of the more challenging overhauls to touch fallout 4, taking basic survival mechanics and completely flipping them around to make the struggle that much more brutal, and still managing to throw a couple new mechanics at the player to handle, one of these being sanity. Positive sanity allows guns to remain somewhat stable, characters to interact with you, and all around makes the run easier to manage, but without sanity things tend to get a little , unruly. With that being said, could you do a playthrough of frost without losing your sanity and going insane even once? Lets find out.

When i finished frost (far harbor and nuka world) i had like -2000 sanity but im not sure because the meter stopped working at 1000
Yeah , I saw that the meter would go into negatives, but i wouldve never guessed it would keep up that low haha

To be honest, if I had been frozen for 200 years and woke up to snow everywhere I'd lose my mind a little.
It does wear on you after a bit, I lived in Alaska for a while and the snow gets old real fast haha
I love how in Frost, killing a Cannibal that was seconds ago trying to eat you makes you lose Sanity. I'd personally lose sanity if i let the monster live.

As someone who played through FROST's storyline I can say it's possible(Though I had several addons to my game while playing it) but for me I spent most of my early game focusing on areas that had ghouls in them to avoid sanity loss. Later on when I'd built up my supplies more I ended up taking on human-occupied areas and downing mentats, Nuka-Cola, coffee and cooked foods to maintain my sanity levels afterwards.
Did I ever tell you what the definition of insanity is? Insanity is doing the exact same fucking thing over and over again, expecting shit to change.
I just call that stubbornness haha

You know, I love Frost because unlike Dust, it’s the exact opposite vibe. Dust has the feeling of horror from the fact you recognize everything, yet they been corrupted and perverted to seem so different. Meanwhile Frost also has the same thing a little, but one thing you have to consider that Frost takes place in a point of time at the start, where in the end, it doesn’t even matter, by the time of the actual Fallout 4 story, it doesn’t matter. Everything and everyone are struggling survive, including you the player, and the factions that enforce they’re ideologies wont matter in a hundreds of years, The Commonwealth will move on. It’s almost existential.
I also love Frost because for some reason there’s a abundance of landmines like seriously.

There are so many landmines haha but I do agree with you, frost taking place at the beginning rather then the end of the events of the game, does give you the feeling of, this will all fade to make way for fallout 4 or the cannon continuation of fnv.
Frost is like playing Minesweeper on old PCs: Half the time you die to something you had no idea was there.
Man, these streams were wild. Between playing Landmine Simulator, Child Soldier Simulator, and Ireland Simulator with the amount you were drinking, I'm not sure what the game was anymore. It was a great time either way. I hope we get a Dust playthrough on stream soon.
Dust will make an appearance soon, I think I have the perfect idea on how to make it super scary haha

No. You had a voiceless NPC called 'sheet of paper' tell you. Which is pretty much exactly the same, minus voice acting.
fair point, but you still have to do some in between the lines connecting, but the npcs that are present do a pretty god job connecting events to haha

I've been able to get through around 15 hours of gameplay without going insane. I found a nice spot where I can grind away in safety to get all my food, water, and booze needs. Though I'm still running Frost V0.55 so if there's a patch that removes settlements, stores, settlers, or caltrop value this method wouldn't be so reliable anymore. There's alooooot of steel you can take from settlements and every 5 steel can get you like 32 caps. However without settlements in Far Harbor, and maybe Nuka World if I have that, then yeah I wouldn't be able to keep my sanity in game. My game probably isn't properly patched up since I can carry infinite weight if I just walk really slowly. I checked and I have Frost Plus, but not Frost official updates. I kind of have no plans on going forward to Far Harbor nor Nuka world, so I guess that'll be that until I decide to begin again with the modern set up XD. The main risk of insanity in Frost I think is during the beginning. The hardest part is just removing the landmines between the feds and alliance. I do admit that I had to save scum during that to make it through XD.

Another thing that really helped my playthrough was the syringer and the bleed out rounds. 1 bleed out round is able to do something like 3,000 damage really good for killing humans.
I do have an idea for another frost video, but since the ending is the same every time, im leaning on maybe doing it in dust, but well see :)

What is fallout frost? I can tell its some sort of fallout 4 survival mode mod but ive never heard of it... and most likely gonna play it now lol
It’s a massive survival overhaul to the game, I made a longer video ages ago detailing it more, but it’s considered to be one of the hardest mods for it

That’s my stamina bar, I use a mod to change the ui around, so the bar ontop is changing due to health. Thirst, and sleep

Frost has forced me to use weapons id never even look at railway rifle lame , that stupid pipe revolver , actually using melee as a first resort in stead of hosing them down with a crap pipe gun . A side note i could not figure out the sewers in the slightest and i murdered my way out to goodneighbor couldnt leave so some more subway murdering later i popped out at park station insane and then took over hangmans and nursed ny sanity back and now im watching vids only to figure out i skipped like half the con tent lol

I have aspergers and tbh after a little while it gets slightly monotone and gets a little hard to focus on it, so I'd just recommend trying to maybe accentuate certain words or phrases or just a little more emotion/energy! Its up to interpretation as there is no real ending for Frost, so I call the ending the Restart point

@@erdood3235 basically Janus takes you to Far Harbor because he think you, being HR-D4, will be safe from the Enclave and the CIT there. Naughrim wrote the ending to leave open the interpretations that Janus would go on to found/inspire/start the tracks for the Railroad (even though most players will kill Janus on the boat, or he will be killed by hunters on the island). If you stay on Far Harbor, you fulfill Janus wish to be out of reach for your pursuers. But if you decide to go back to the Commonweath, you will have to do it has a beggar. Faction wise, the Enclave will retreat from the region, leaving the Army Remnants on their own (dying out or eventually spawning the Gunners as an alterate origin theory aside the Vault kids), the Metro Federation will likely collapse now that Marchand in dead and go out to found Diamond City (after the Army remants leave). The Alliance will possibly build Bunker Hill, and with Finch and Itaca dead, the Maldenmen will cease to exist.

@@erdood3235 he is your "benefactor" (the survivor on the boat to Far Harbor) and the guy that leave the strange yellow hoods everywhere during Frost + placed you in the cell if you took the subway entry start. He was (alongside a the guy who overdosed near your cell, and another guy who died of malnutrition they had to cannibalize after they ran out of supplies after the wat) part of a trio that were robot activists (freeing Mr handies and stuff) before the war, and now that he discovered the existence of HR-D4 (supposedly the player), he is obsessed with "freeing him". Frost is more or less about the player being possibly this human with special cranial implants that the Enclave and CIT both try to find, and Janus lurking and ambushing them in order to "free his little snake" (you).
