So if you enable fast travel, you remove the difficulty from game and you miss out on so much discovery. I have easily 500+ hours in F4 as it's my favorite but just started a survival run and there's so many locations I had no idea were there and there's no greater joy than discovering a fucking bed out in the wild! I hope you can find some time to just play survival legit for yourself. It's very rewarding. Not trying to preach.. but I feel more people would love this game played the way it was intended. Nothing says desperation than eating dog food on a herpes infested filthy mattress and catching a disease which is all worth it for the save point. Fun fact, just north of Diamond city, there's an unmarked "apartment" with a real bed and stove with a red door just past the fenced in area with the dogs. That shit is a life and time saver.
fast travel is basically the only difficult bit about survival. (intentionally, anyway) the unintentional bit that makes it too challenging is that, due to being a Bethesda game, it bugs, crashes, and causes progress to be lost. That is why, in my opinion, a mod that lets autosave happen is less cheat-y, because it is a Bethesda game.
@@Inonmeyq2 I agree, I got deep into a session and I scrolled my pipboy too fast causing my game to crash. I lost about 3 hours worth of progress over a stupid bug.
@freeroamchips difficulty isn't all there is to it. With no fast travel, that box of sugar bombs you passed a mile ago might a battle with a few ghouls but if you can just warp to wherever, not even thinking about food or water or carry weight. As for the game bugging out, even loaded with cosmetic mods, it's just not a thing in 2024. So if you can just warp to a clean bed, now you're no longer worried about illness or anything related to finding a proper bed and weighing whether the checkpoint is worth dealing with the loss of the tired buff which is +25 damage. It's pretty game breaking and you might as well play hardcore as it ruins the spirit of the game. I'm out here hunting ragstads for the carryweight buff that I've ignored for a decade but I would drop some shit, quick travel, then come back. I killed 3 crackheads this morning for a sleeping bag that gave me crabs and it was worth it based on what I'd done. Check your mods if you're crashing often. Otherwise, you're not playing survival if you fast travel or quick save. That's not my personal opinion. That's literally the game.
I love this video. I haven’t played Fallout 4 yet but I am thinking of starting on Survival. Some forum suggested that a newcomer would get eaten alive on survival. Challenge accepted. I like how you edited it & the pacing was nice.
Lost me at "added a mod to fast travel". Why even bother doing a survival run if you're gunna remove the survival aspect. Didn't finish video on principle.
New Vegas may have the best story but I always cared more about gameplay in my videogames so Fallout 4 is my favorite.
FYI all hotel beds can be rented for one in-game day to save.
