I have listened to this over 100 times, with earphones, volume turned up etc etc....I can't hear on word where his pitch changed. i think the judges were so complimentary thru out this competition of them that they had to appear as though they weren't playing favorites. Great job Rob! it was perfect!
It was the "take her with him", but to me Rob has the clearest voice from the whole group, since this performance I haven't heard him being out of the pitch
@@CanadaB1024 I don't have great pitch, but I hear it when he hits the elongation on the O in Colorado and on the word Door. And I remember feeling he was nervous the first time I listened. But when he hits the high note on Wonder, dude knew he had it.
I never hear Rob's bad note. I saw a live concert and he was mostly lead tenor, and he did a wonderful job. Of course, Austin's voice is beautiful, too.
Most times in vocal competitions I feel like there is a country singer/country singing group in the finals usually because they're the only type of country person that the southern states can vote for.... This is the first time that I actually believe that you guys deserve to be here as a country group in a long time.
Robs very first note was just a hair off but he immediately corrected it and brought it back. But I agree with the second judge- it sounded like nervousness because it was not only his first solo but because they were so close to the finale. If you listen to a live performance of this song now, Rob KILLS it. It's amazing!
Absolutely agree! I stumbled on these guys doing "Man of Constant Sorrow". They were all good but it was Rob's voice that made me go looking for more. Now I am a die-hard fan!
Home Free was the most reformed group out of the main three that went on this show, Pentatonix, Voice Play, and them. They had the most full sound and most refined sound, but eventually all of these groups came to have this. I still think that Home Free has some of the best live performances now, without post production in the studio used by these groups.
Rob, don't scare the guys like that! LOL Seriously, one of the things I love most about Home Free is that there's no ONE main singer. It alternates between Austin, Tim, Rob, and lately Chance. And I'm totally fine with this. Love them all!
Wow guys I really loved you doing this one. Never heard it until I watched this, and wish you would record it soon. It was truly beautiful and it touched me.
@@JaimeDornanLady I said this a few weeks ago on one of their newest songs, can’t remember which one now - “Flowers on the Wall”, “Meet in the Middle” maybe, which is my absolute favourite, for personal reasons and cuz how many cowboys exit a country music video on a skateboard?!?
I find it interesting that none of the judges mentioned Tim's range on this song. True, he didn't hit the super low notes, but he was up there with the rest of them. That's awesome to me.
MsRegineAnne Ahahaha.. I know right! The funny thing is, I have a strong feeling that these guys do not need additional coaching anymore... they just pretend to listen to the "coaches"
First there was the Latino energy NOTA, then the sweet and smooth COMMITTED, then the techno-pop PENTATONIX, and now there's the country flavored HOME FREE? ^_^
Well yeah, I guess Rob was off key at some point but I didn't even notice and it didn't bother me at all? I guess they're just that good that even their mistakes sound beautiful.
The change in pitch is so minor, subtle. You can hear it when Rob sings the first line. The "She trade Colorado if" is in pitch but then on "she takes her with him" he goes half a note up, then goes back to original key. I dont know the lyrics so my bad if i said something wrong, but i hope if this helped
The judges did have to reach to find a negative comment, but I thought it was a beautiful rendition of this song. I definitely didn't hear what the judges heard!!
S Graves Yeah completely true, I was just pointing out that I did hear a couple of notes that were slightly slightly off 100% perfect, but yeah they are already awesome so it's kinda just being overly picky on the judges' part!
+Suz G, the difference is that what Austin does in "I want crazy" is something that all country singers do, along with various other styles of music. Also, in the beginning of colder weather, well trained ears can hear rob be slightly sharp, about a quarter of a semitone.
Nice and simple performance. Rob has a great voice. Home Free has a great cover of Wake Me Up on their TH-cam channel where they mentioned about working on an album (recording contact for the winner of the Sing-Off?).
They recorded that a few weeks before the Sing-Off even started haha. I'm hoping they'll win though, if they can make a cover that great without any professional help, imagine if they had a contract
Rebecca Chan He is! He has a beautiful voice, & does quite well. He doesn’t sing solo all that often, based on what I’ve seen in their videos. I wonder if that’s part of the reason Chris Rupp went on his own? I’ve yet to see/hear him sing anything solo. It had to be hard on them to always hear stuff about Tim, Austin, & Adam, but not Chris or Rob!
@@Aprlmoore I noticed that both Rob & Chance are singing more solo parts now. They both are doing fantastic jobs, & I wouldn’t expect any less from Home Free! Adds to their variety, & I love watching the whole group!
+LJ B Right at the beginning (about 1:44) when Rob started off he was slightly sharp on "take" of "she'd trade colorado if he'd take her with him", but he quickly worked it out and took it home.
Your right it was off just a little sharp. Most people that's not working with music all the time would mostly likely miss it because he did work it back in without much trouble. Still was crazy good.
Besides a bit nervousness in his voice the first couple of seconds, I only noticed that he sang faster than he should at the chorus. Other than that they all did great.
chris i hope you know your the backbone in the band. you have the hardest part, no love for you but remember your voice is the cornerstone the rest can lean on.
S Graves It must be, but after relistening to it in 720p HD, I'm still having difficulty hearing it...maybe I just don't have that good of an ear or maybe Rob's voice is drowning out the harmonies just enough that I can't pick it out.
S Graves I agree, especially your comments about Shawn. Austin is a very talented singer and I thought that, too, about Shawn's comment. The only member that didn't receive any kind of individual love was Chris, probably since he sang harmony the entire time. I really like his voice, but it got overshadowed by Tim and Austin, and his beat box brother, Adam.
On "closes the door" and "wonders if her love" Rob was slightly sharp, probably about a quarter of a semitone. After years of playing various instruments, especially guitar and bass, I have well trained ears. The vibrato is most likely what threw everyone off.
MC Productions If in fact he was a quarter of a semitone sharp, which is 1/8 step between the next note, how could they hear that. That's some pretty good ear training!
Mike B the judges (other than maybe jewel), have decades of experience under their belt. And, I have near perfect pitch...I know people who actually do have perfect pitch, and they agreed with me
My theory is that the judges had to say they'd done something wrong so that they didn't just have to say, "yeah, we don't need a finale; you guys are the obvious winners."
Not out of tune, more out of tempo. Rob's voice was a bit shaky the first few seconds, but that disappeared quickly. However when he got to the chorus he started singing a bit faster than he should, but still in tune.
@@ginijudd2079 The show is also produced and pitch correction could be applied to some degree to increase audience retention from people watching at home

His voice was shaking during the first two lines. Just nerves. But then he calmed into it. Nothing bad, just his first time singing lead on the show.
They were pitch perfect every time I listened to this.
It was the "take her with him", but to me Rob has the clearest voice from the whole group, since this performance I haven't heard him being out of the pitch

This is a flawless performance from Home Free! I love their harmony
I have never been a fan of country music but this band is absolutely moving. I enjoy them immensely. They are so genuine.
Ok, so this is about the hundreth time I've watched this and I STILL got chills up my arms....

This is the song that won me over with this group. I look forward to each music they release.
The "Oh my God" by Tim at the barber shop just cracked me up.
THANK YOU-That was absolutely hilarious
It was hilarious. I love their sense of humour.
Seriously guys. This song brings a shiver to my spine! I can't get enough of your songs!
Wow I was mesmerised by this performance. I love the whole arrangement and just wow. This is amazing. I love home free

True but it was still very amusing

I love this better than the original version. I hope these guys make a studio version of this song too.
Check out now that Adam Chance is the baritone. It’s amazing.

The guys have mentioned in past interviews that not all of the judges comments made it on the air. So maybe one of them did, we just didn't see it.
True, but even though F#1 to Eb4 is quite a bit of range, which is what he displayed on the show, that's only around half of his range.
Thanks for this - I was surprised too not hearing any comment on this - Tim´s voice is so beautiful in the high part.
