- Can I beat a Pokemon Hardcore Nuzlocke challenge in Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl using only Fairy types?
Nuzlocke rules:
Fainted Pokemon must be permanently boxed
Only the first encounter on any given route may be caught (dupes clause)
Hardcore Nuzlocke Rules:
No items in battle (only held)
No overleveling past the next gym leader
Set Mode
Extra Rules:
Only 1 encounter in the Underground per gym badge
Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl Rules:
1 Underground encounter per gym badge
Viewer Rules:
Nickname all Pokemon

Btw, you learn your mom's name on the original D/P too, and you can compete against her in any Master Contest. She's pretty tough with a Kangaskhan. Sometimes Fantina and Jasmine also appear at Master Contests with Drifblim and Steelix.

Yeah it’s quite scarce in terms of who I can get with this run, I think I could have won this without the crit happening if I’m being honest, also had I had Clefable probably could have gone smoother but that’s my mistake lol

I didn't know azurill was rare. I ran into like 3 in my one and only safari session. Didnt catch any of them because they kept fleeing. Caught a marill tho.
Yeah it’s crazy rare, providing the odds are the same as the originals it’s only 1% compared to Marils 15 which I would have preferred as 40000 steps for friendship with no speed up is torture especially when I had to do it 3 times 😂

As a massive yugioh fan, I appreciate the references, especially the ygotas ones 👍 there’s also a yugioh gx abriged series, I don’t know how popular it is so you might’ve heard of it but it’s really funny I’d 100% reccomend it
I haven’t actually heard of the GX abridged, seen all of the original one though so I’ll be sure to check it out!
I fell in LOVE with fairy types in my first play through of renegade platinum where milotic and ninetails both have dual fairy. Ofc not canon, and obv it makes both soo much stronger but its such a cool typing
I do like fairy types a good chunk, really made a good addition to the game just wish they made more of them
Ninetales does have Fairy dual canon

Princesses are actually the solid names for the Fairy name

Good luck that's all I got to say if you manage to get to her Garchomp you'll be like me I made it to Garchomp with a full team and got swept it wasn't easy whole team to take out fairies

It’s really unfortunate but in BDSP the friendship mechanic has been merged with the Pokémon Amie/Refresh affection mechanic. They are now the same thing, which means essentially just being friends with your Pokémon gives you anime protagonist plot armor. If you want a run of these games to actually be challenging I recommend buying bitter medicine herbs from Eterna City to keep your friendship levels down and never walking with your Pokémon.
Yeah I need to figure out ways of avoiding it but just normal walking raises it so I’m not sure it’s going to be avoidable in these games, shame really as I love the walking with Pokémon mechanic
Gonna be trying that in a Nuzlocke I'm gonna try later today.
Also ironically despite them mixing the friendship with affection.. eevee cannot become Sylveon, literally the only mon that was a new evo to pokemon already in the DP dex...
At least you knocked out four of her Pokemon before going down. I wonder if Clefable would have helped at all?
Yeah it’s unfortunate and to be honest Clefable probably would have been a decent help it’s got alright stats and some good moves but I didn’t even do any calcs or thought with it due to losing it beforehand

It basically walled my next run because of the defence increase; had to resort to different TM’s to get it done
@Morty same I legit had to play into its hand and paralyze it with my Luxray (never was intending to use it but man I don’t regret it) and then volt switch into my Mesprit (it is my first play through so I allowed it cause I was getting tired of losing) and set up to plus six with calm mind and full restore until I could two shot it and then sweep her team cause she threw by using swords dance on garchomp but I popped off with my friends for it cause I legit lost sleep for that fight so I took whatever I could get. Sorry for the rant lol

hidden tech for nuzlockes in bdsp for friendship evolutions is to ride in a small circle, it makes your step count way higher and evolutions faster

In my opinion Cynthia is so easy to beat now.....if you had a full team of course....but yeah fairy types do really made this game easy to play...
Honestly had it not been for the crit on the turn Togkiss came out I think it was free, would have one shot everything and had enough health to take the punches according to the calcs

Cynthia in the remake is way harder than the Gen 4 Games.
The entire elite four it to be honest, it’s a nice refreshing change of pace in my opinion and the friendship can’t be turned off so makes for some surprising moments

Very true but it’s rare in the underground and none of my Pokémon could learn thief to get it that way so although I tried a bit at the time it didn’t seem worth doing yet

How is it even possible to not overlevel? I skipped the most trainers but i still overleveled.
I overlevelled for Candice with 2 Pokémon, gotta put some in the box to prevent them overlevelling and use the least xp ones to fight through, if I hadn’t got Togepi late I’d likely have struggled

I did have this but removed it as people were getting confused about it all and I can’t get it across well in a video so decided best to scrap it

I’m not actually sure how to get Mawile in the game so that’s why I didn’t get that and regarding the clefairy I tried the underground and their method but never got lucky so gave up, would have probably done it had I used it in the elite four but since it died I didn’t have to bother
