- This is the process of how I usually paint.
I have no Idea what I want to draw from the beginning, all I want is to draw a female Taoist (道士), so there's a lot of try and error in the video, but this is a nice method to get the best result for your drawing~😁

@@toulouse4209 the first statement is on one layer and is the most important one.
The rest is confort. He's clearly able to do it on one layer (digital alla prima if you will)
It's not a joke. It's a sign you master shapes/color theory/design/light, all at once. It requires a certain amount of knowledge and experience to recognize the subtlety of mastery. Maybe you will understand what i am saying in the future. There is no shame in asking 👍

@@Gallant_Goose Shading is not really painting, it's an "edge work", and can be noxious in some cases if used like a value transition (it often leads to muddy colors if used improperly). But if you add one color that perfectly matches the transition between two values without forgetting both ambiant light and local color... that my friend is mastery.
That's one of the difference between a true master who puts the right value/color in every stroke, and an apprentice who tries and tries and tries again until he gets the color he wants (often a messy and time consuming process). Best example i know to illustrate this is Richard Schmid.
Of course layers help, i am not saying otherwise. It's just that i've been teaching art for 10 years now and can recognize true mastery right away (i'm not a master though, just a teacher that know his stuffs).
@@ApprendreDessiner there are masters that like organizing and separating in layers. Some poeple like using just one or two layers and that's fine too. It's a matter of preferred workflow.
