    I contend that Holly is the most evil. Hear me out:
    - She decides to be born during Walt’s biggest sale up to that point
    - She was present and complicit with Skylar’s impersonation of a government official
    - Holly was complacent with Walt secretly gloating to her about his money, knowing she’d get some part of those earnings
    - She spites Walt by demanding her mother when he had worked so hard to kidnap her
    - Holly breaks and enters into a fire truck

Good man, hates crime, was firm but caring towards his criminal son, was genuinely honest in business and personal life, is not vengeful or spiteful, and everyone who meets him has nothing but great things to say about the guy. • @jessejive117

      daniel persson Well I agree Hanks the hero of the show but you were absolutely wrong that morality is subjective. You may have your beliefs about morality but it’s not subjective because then you couldn’t be wrong. You can think raping children is OK but you are wrong. There can be ethics and it cannot be clear what someone should have done in the situation even with hindsight but that doesn’t make morality personal or subjective. And I don’t hold people to as high of a standard that a raise in the middle east where they killed gay people and have slavery and kill Christians and Jews in women’s don’t have equal rights. As a man I would probably be a totally different person if I was raised in the Middle East, it doesn’t change the fact the way they are raised is morally inferior. The only people that think morality is subjective or atheist which tend to be very far to the left and the most judge mental hateful people because they disagree with others morality or people on the left ironically. I’m not calling you an atheist or a left-wing or a hateful person by the way lol And I agree it’s up for discussion of who the most moral character is and who the hero and who the villain of the show is. I honestly don’t think Walt is as nearly as evil as people make him out to be

    • @SamsarasArt
      @SamsarasArt 3 ปีที่แล้ว +37

      Hard to say. Chuck definitely knows the law inside and out in insane detail and uses that knowledge to use that law to his advantage. He may not break any laws (that I know of) but he's an incredibly sneaky, vindictive, selfish person. He willingly let's Howard take the fall when he prevented his brother from being hired by HHM.
      An interesting perspective is while Jimmy does the wrong things for the right reasons, Chuck is the exact opposite. He does the right things for the wrong reasons and even though he doesn't break the law, his actions feel evil.

    • @sam.lipchutz
      @sam.lipchutz 3 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      @@SamsarasArt Exactly. He’s the perfect example of a lawful evil character. I always thought that lawful evil meant like salesman, politicians, police officers, and managers that never break the law but are still very evil and use their authority to control others or manipulate them into getting what they want. But in most fictional stories the villains break the law to at least some extent but I don’t think Chuck ever actually breaks it but actually uses it to get what he wants which is a perfect example of lawful evil in my opinion. However I think Jimmy isn’t necessarily good. He doesn’t always do things for the right reasons. He’s still very selfish allot of times.

    • @sam.lipchutz
      @sam.lipchutz 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Nero Wynn right, and there are many people in real life that will scam you like doctors, lawyers, dentists, pharmacists but in fiction I usually see characters that others consider lawful evil break the law many times but just in a sneaky way. To me lawful evil means you do evil things that aren’t illegal like the Wall Street stock brokers

    • @lonestarasshole584
      @lonestarasshole584 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Chuck is not evil, he's bitter, he's vindictive and he's selfish. But he is not evil. He hates Jimmy and Jimmy alone and his obsession with hating Jimmy is his downfall. However he does not try to harm anyone severely asides from Jimmy, even Kim. And even though he hates Jimmy, he is right about him. Yes, Jimmy could've changed if wasn't for Chuck, but it is unlikely. We start the show with Jimmy trying to impress Chuck, but even when he tries to be a "Good" person, he breaks the ethics code several times.
      Jimmy was never an ethical person, even when his intentions were the purest. Not many people can see Chuck's point because the show is set on Jimmy's Perspective. But the show is so good that you can find reason in both arguments.

    • @breadonpuppies7376

      I agree, I think Gomez is probably the best because he never did anything awful and just generally seemed like a good guy. People make the argument for the kids or Walter Jr, which are fair enough since they do nothing wrong, but I do think Gomey is above simply for being a good man who's also part of the DEA. I think an art of this show though is that people can definitely view characters differently, like honestly for me I'd put Jesse in gray area because you can tell, especially with Gale's death, Jesse did not wanna do it. Obviously he was helping out one of the biggest baddies in the show, but I am convinced it's because Walt was the only father figure Jesse has had. And another disagreement I have is that I think Jack is worse than Todd. I think this because Todd does awful things, worse than Jack technically, but Todd tries to show a good side even while being one of the worst in the show, and I think Jack plays a big role on how Todd acts. Obviously I'm not disagreeing with you, it's targeted at the video, and honestly again I agree on Gomey. :)

    I've always wondered if Fring would've made good on his threat to kill Walt's family. Ambiguity is a part of his character - the audience has to decide if he's a noble outlaw or another kingpin scumbag. Even though his underlings killed Tomas he had a knack for recruiting guys who seem cunning and disciplined but also screw up (like Victor walking into that crowd around Gale's body or Tyrus not noticing the bomb on Hector's wheelchair). Throughout the entirety of BrBa and BCS his gang have threatened civilians (apart from Tomas) but haven't actually killed them whereas the Salamancas had no problems wasting anyone nearby.
    Of course another interpretation of Fring's character is that he'd rather avoid bloodshed with civilians but will do it if necessary. Maybe the only real contrast with Fring and Hector pre-wheelchair is that he had something of a conscience about bystanders while Hector could care less. It also seems likely that any noble qualities he had were a feint for Mike.

    I know I'm a year late but I wouldn't say Waltar was worse than Gus, Tuco, Hector or the Salamanca cousins. I know that Waltar does do a hell of a lot of horrible things but he does show some sense of goodness deep inside even towards the end such as how he was ready and willing to give all of his money, everything he's worked for, all away just to save Hank, or how he put himself at extreme risk at the end (and even gets himself killed) to save Jesse. He was also planning to turn himself in a couple of times near the end. He's definitely nearer the evil end of the spectrum, but I seriously think that the things I've listed alone would place him higher than Gus or almost anyone in the Salamanca family.

  • @dash4800

    I think Hector is the most evil. We mostly see him as a pathetic old man being tortured but like Gus said, he deserves it. Unlike Tuco, who is just crazy, Hector does all his evil with a perfectly sane mind. And unlike Gus, he does it just to be an evil prick. He has no order or standards to anything. And the only reason we don't see his as the grand villain is because he isn't clever enough to get to the top of the mountain. But clearly he would like to be. And if he were, he would be killing everyone on a whim. Either for a tiny slight or just to amuse himself.

    This ranking was released between the last two full seasons of Better Call Saul. The final season warrants a few new placements (I say five of them) due to new or expanded roles. Since no one else addressed this, I will.
    Cliff Main: Genuinely good, honest, loyal, and competent attorney with an even bigger compassionate heart. I would go as far as to rank him the silver medal.
    Marion: The dark horse heroine from Omaha, and a genuinely sweet lady. Bronze medal. Yes, that’s 2/3 of the podium showcased in the final season.
    Manuel Vargas: Totally pure and good person, albeit lacking the heroism of the top tier. I would rank him just after Walt Jr.
    Bill Oakley: Competent lawyer with a great heart, and one who is willing to help his old friend at the end. I would rank him just after Manuel Vargas.
    Jeff: Criminal without any apparent redeeming qualities, except that he didn’t appear to have murdered anyone. I would rank him between Wexler and Pinkman.

    To call Hank the most pure and good person in Breaking Bad is insane. Did you forget that he beat Jesse unconscious out of anger? In total violation of his duty as a cop. Hank shows over and over that he's willing to violate the law to get what he wants whilst using his influence as a police officer to protect those close to him who break the law like Marie and Walt. He's a total piece of shit to everyone who isn't a cop or a relative. Harassing and insulting Wendy, posing for photos next to corpses with a big smile on his face, referring to burnt Mexican border hoppers as extra crispies, starting a fight in the bar etc etc...

    So, I think you have Jesse's parents pretty much backwards.
    On the one hand, it's perfectly logical as a parent to cut off your druggie son, because that's really the only way to help them. Allow them to hit rock bottom, and admit there's a problem. Then help them through it.
    On the other hand, they're clearly overbearing parents incapable of turning out a functional child. They're likely at least partially if not mostly responsible for Jesse being such a perennial screw-up. Jake is obviously a replacement goldfish given his age, and he's probably going to end up mildly screwed up too.

He always tried to make amends with Jimmy and was always a bigger man in uncomfortable situations. The man even put himself in financial debt in order to save the firm and everyone who works there. His biggest mistake was really just being the fall guy for Chuck instead of tell the truth.

      Hank, the straight shooter, deviates from morality with his lack of empathy by not caring about Jesse's life.(Among other things, like bailing out his selfish Klepto wife and wanting to destroy Walt for no other reason than hurt pride. He actually says as much in the garage scene.)

Why wouldn’t he bail his wife, he knows his wife is in the wrong but that’s no reason to turn his back on her. It's fine to have your own opinion Rene.
      However, you've kinda only read the surface level of my points. There is a much deeper implication to being a straight shooter good guy type, that deviates so sharply from the lawful path. A person who thinks from a moral stand point is more likely to try and help those who have screwed up in life. The only criminal he tried helping was his wife, which I would argue was only out of the shame he felt when his fellow cops found out. He tried his best to hide or cover up her actions. That's not in line with a guy who lives by the law. Again, that's his pride.
      Anyways.. I'm tired. I'll leave it at that.
