- So today is the first challenge day of the Tour de Fleece. It took me a while to decide exactly what I wanted to try for this day. This particular fiber is going to present a couple challenges for me. From the color scheme I am going for to the way I am trying to spin it. I hope you all will follow along with me to see the results and how it turns out. I would be so grateful! Thank you all for watching this far and your continued support! I just bought my first CVM fleece from a farm in the States (Far Crick). It is beautiful. I have to scour it first before combing or carding. Was great to you working on one

I absolutely love the Color gradient. One thing to remember to is that CVM puffs up when washed. All the fine wools do.
Yes! I am excited to see if it makes a nice gradient and if it is close to worsted or heavy worsted. That is half the fun, seeing what the final yarn does after the wash lol. Thank you so much for your comment!
Watching your videos always makes me want to spin wool! I love hearing your expertise, and seeing how the different processes work. I haven’t yet combed a fleece, but hopefully someday I will.

I loved the gradient colours of your Fleece. What a transformation from those short locks right down to your Spinning. Your yarn looks awesome and amazing.
I struggle to do a short forward draw. I have no problem doing a long backward. I down get a fine yarn though. I was going to use a Challenge Day to try and do the short one, but over did my Spinning on Saturday must have done a good couple of hours instead of the 30mins. So I haven't done any Spinning since then. Hopefully I'll be back Spinning on Wednesday.

Hey! Happy spinning if you get back to it today, I have been keeping at it pretty well I am a bit behind today but hoping to get caught up later this evening. Give it a try for sure! I have loved trying, well I will call it a "medium draw" LOL🤣 I haven't mastered the LONG draw though. I will have to practice on a drop spindle first. You had said you were spinning rolags right? If you don't mind me asking, what color are they and are you going for a particular size on your finished yarn or just letting the fiber tell you what it wants so to speak? I would love to get a better image of what my fiber friends are working on! It is so fun to see others' projects and works in progress. Sending big hugs and lots of love as always! -Rayne 🐑🧶🧡
@@RayneFiberArts Hi Rayne, yeah I managed to get some Spinning done today, definitely made sure I didn't over do it. The Rolags are a peach colour with some silk in. They're some that I have left from Christmas. I just let the fibre be what it wants to be, although its a bit thick and thin in places, but its more consistent than some of my other yarns. I'm glad that you're getting better with the backward draw. I'm getting better with the short forward.
TDF will have taught us both something.!!
