Actually, Keith was there for all of "Magic Bus"...he was playing claves...the little polished wood blocks you bang together to get a certain percussion sound. It's a trademark of the single. Speaking of Keith being absent at the beginning, when the Who would perform their great song "Behind Blue Eyes", they used to literally send Keith offstage during the delicate vocals that start that song. They said he'd get bored and either start clowning around and making one of them laugh and muck up the vocals, or occasionally would try to sing along and muck up the vocals. And they learned this early...the first time I saw the Who in 1973, on Thanksgiving, Keith stood up ON his drum kit, introduced the song, and then shuffled off stage. He returned at just the right moment to join the song for the faster section and the outro. I'm blessed to have gotten to see Keith perform 3 times. He was my drumming idol.
You're so so lucky to have seen The Who in concert with Keith and 3x yet
Unfortunately I was only 9 when Keith passed away so I missed any chance to see The original 4
Between Keith and John alone I'd be in heaven
😅 about keeping Keith backstage for the quiet part of "Beyond Blue Eyes"
Keith is my favorite drummer and whenever I watch live footage my eyes are on him the whole time
🎵✌️🎶🤘
I bought this album on a whim. I wasn't a Who fan. A friend recommended it and I saw it and picked it up. Took it home and played it. I was blown away and that day I became a major fan of THE WHO. Just as I am today.
🎶🤘🎵💜
It's the Bo Didley Rhythm, or 3/2 clave borrowed from Latin music. Written by Townsend in 1965 but not recorded until 1968. The Isle of Wight performance is a great example of the Who during their finest period with Excellent audio and video. If you were lucky to see the Who around this time, it would be one of the highlights of your life.
MAXIMUM RHYTHM AND BLUES at its finest!!! Search "The Who - Magic Bus - Live At Leeds HQ" to hear this with era correct concert footage of the song..
And that folks is the power of rock and roll !!!!!
I ENJOY YOUR COMMENTS..I'VE BEEN A WHO FAN SINCE 1972....THE OX'S BASS LIVE WAS THUNDEROUS..HE REINVENTED THE BASS AND MADE IT LOOK TOO EASY...
Not sure why more people aren't listening to songs from this album. My Generation, Young Man Blues, Amazing Journey/Sparks are all EPIC.
Oh I'm listening and this was before my time
The Who are timeless
I have discovered several reaction channels by young people getting blown away by the music we grew up on. Some get 300-500k views/subscribers. They are discovering great music and loving it. They all say "I never knew" and "why don't they make stuff like that anymore "😮
@@6916dog As a Generation Xer I was thrilled when my son and daughter both Gen Z started listening on their own to Pink Floyd Deep Purple Santana and my son is heavily into early funk Parliament Earth Wind and Fire etc and my daughter is turning me on to Italian Heavy Metal
Believe me they still listen to "their" music 😉 however as my uncle ( went to Woodstock) and older cousins turned me on the great 60s and 70s Rock it really does rub off
Sorry to keep blabbing but I just LOVE when younger people react to the Classics of Rock
I subscribe to quite a few of them
🎶🤘✌️🎵
Greatest Rock Band Ever
My favorite Rock Band too
🎶✌️🎵
You should definitely check out My Generation from this album. More powerful stuff. ✌️
That is different for sure. I wasn't expecting it that way.
One of my favorite live albums ever. When you get a chance listen to anything from the Stones on get your ya yas out live another classic live album
Keith with John on bass made the Who a formidable three piece band.
Fact! 🎵✌️🎶
I was at Leeds Uni and was there when this was recorded. One of the best live concerts ever
Miss Blondie, I always liked the studio version of this (on the radio), but this live version just blows it out of the water!! Great choice. Thanks Harri and Miss Blondie 🌺✌️
It was the best period of Who Live . That said even Moons last concerts was great
The original “Live at Leeds” as issued was a heavily edited version of the show. The full concert included a performance of most of “Tommy”, only relatively recently available as an extended double disc. The whole show is amazing. It’s also worth listening to “Live at Hull”, virtually the same show recorded just a few days before but not released at the time as the bass never got recorded. That has since been dubbed in.
Rock at its very best.
Wow! That was really different than the studio version. Truly fantastic! Thanks for sharing. 👍👍👏👏👏
Oh yeah! Love The Who live!!!
I live and breath Led Zeppelin, but Live at Leeds is one of the best live albums out there.
So few react to live who, it breaks my heart. HHmmmm, maybe people actually do and they don't live to tell the tale!
When Harri said "I haven't heard my boy Keith Moon yet", I thought: no worries, Keith is warming up in the bullpen!
😂😂
I was thinking the same thing
It's amazing how different the studio version of Magic Bus is from this thunderous live version of the song! The studio version was a nice pop single. The live version will blow your ears out if you listen to it too loud! BTW, the live version of "My Generation" on the Live At Leeds album probably my favorite live performance from any band ever. Every time the live version of My Generation starts to slow down, in a few seconds the band ratchets it up to the next level of awesomeness until eventually we get the infamous Who "wall of sound" during the Sparks portion of the song.
OH BOY!! a great oldie!!!! ❤💋
Written by Pete Townshend in 1965 , but wasn't recorded till 1968, on " Magic Bus:The Who on Tour".
This is a gem of a heavy psychedelic tune, riding a Bo Diddley beat with a signature clave rhythm, Roger's vocals are so amazing and Keith on the drums, at super speed and Pete just explosive on the guitar. Just Magic.🎶🎶🎸🎸🥁🥁
Martin Scorsese made it a high point on the soundtrack of Ray Liotta's coked up driving scene in " Goodfellas". Great reaction Harri. Thanks Harri and Miss Blondie. ❤👏👏 Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦
I was waiting for your background information and as always I learn more behind of the scenes info
I've watched Goodfellas about 20 times shame on me for not knowing this and I'm a HUGE Who fan
I'm going to watch that scene now
Sending love and music to you my Rock Chick Groovy Far-out friend

Such a great memory, your picks make me feel so young again.😅
Classic Who, just an outstanding pick my groovy friend. Love and Peace. ✌️👍🎶🎶🎸🎸🥁🥁🇨🇦❤️🇺🇲🎶🎶

😂
Perfect
🎶🤘🎵✌️
There is actually a live version of this song! I'm sure someone will lay down the link. It's amazing to see this band from that concert on video, they are just out of this world amazing. Arguably one of their best live performances caught on film. Check it.
I tried and I tried to find the live version, the closest I got was Live at Isle Of Wight with live at Leeds dubbed in
The timings were off
I would love to see live footage of Leeds
It's like under lock and key
🎵🤘🎶✌️
Yes i believer you're correct. The one I saw was a bit off but still amazing...th-cam.com/video/TmfQQC1bsf4/w-d-xo.htmlsi=-4kLkl_6F6A59R8G

Thanks harri
Good man respect to you
Such a fantastic song I love this one by The Who. Thank you, Miss B, and Harri.
Glad you enjoyed this Cynthia
Live At Leeds is my favorite Magic Bus performance unfortunately they didn't have a Live, Live performance at Leeds
💜🎶✌️🎵🇺🇲🇨🇦
This was a fantastic live performance submission from the legendary band The Who. Quite different than the studio version, and I suggest listening to both if you have not already done so. A+ submission Miss B. Harri your review and commentary were very good. Bravo!
This rocked my world.
I was 15 years old when this came out. From that day till now, this is my alltime favorit album.
Had to buy the vinyl three times, because they wear out, you know 😅
Even got a little present from it, tinitus, from playing it much too loud on my headphones.
In the comments i see people asking you to react to MY GENERATION from this album, so here's another one asking you, please do.
Thanks verry much for this one, Harri.
Oh,and Miss Blondie, i love you. 😁👍👊❤️
Thrilled to know another huge Who fan. I'll request My Generation next month in your honor Peter (if Harris hasn't already reacted to it)
Oh and love you back ;)
At the time this was released it was the most talked about live album. One of the firstI. It started the avalanche of live rock albums to follow.
Other songs on here are also worth a listen.
There is a live video version from this tour of Magic Bus live at The Isle of Wight. While it's not quite as bombastic as the Leeds version, it is pretty great. Pete's guitar goes on the fritz at the end, so you get to see Pete have a tantrum and end up smashing the guitar. And at the very end of the Isle of Wight version, you get to see/hear the comedic transactions between Pete and Keith as they introduce the start of Tommy.
I've watched it.
The only footage I could find was Magic Bus Isle Of Wight with live at Leeds background
I did request from Harri
Young Man Blues at Isle Of Wight a few months ago
It's a brilliant live performance
🎶✌️🤘🎵
Love Harri 🎉❤
Thank you for your wonderful reaction Harri
When you said, "where is Keith" I was 😅😅.....he's coming on The Magic Bus.
Unfortunately there is no live footage for Magic Bus at leeds
There is Live from Isle Of Wight with Leeds pumped in but it doesn't match up so I went with this version
The Who is one band that their live is just as good or even better then the studio
They were firing on all engines
Glad you enjoyed it
Love And Music Always
🤘💜🤘🎵✌️
When in the Navy in the 80s I gave a friend a ride from Virginia to New York so he , not me , could see these guys ! funny the memories a song can bring up
I find most of my memories have music attached
It's wonderful when a song brings back great memories
🎵✌️🎶
A little early version of "I Don't Know Myself" at the end. That ending riff should've been its own song.
They`d already played for two hours when they finished with this monster.
They really were something else
🎶🤘🎵✌️
Thanks you guys. Practically my favorite Who song off of my favorite Who album.
It's practically my favorite Who song off my favorite Who Live album too, Uncle Phil

This looks great
I'm going to watch it
Thank you for suggesting it
🎵✌️🤘🎶
Love the delay of the first few guitar licks
Great song! Really like their early stuff from the 60's-70's. They are considered one of the most influential rock bands of the 20th century & have sold over 100 million records worldwide. They have so many great songs such as "I Can't Explain", "The Kids Are Alright", "My Generation", "Substitute", "I Can See For Miles", "Behind Blue Eyes", "Boris The Spider", "Pictures Of Lily", "Pinball Wizard" etc.
Id highly recommend the studio version so you can see what they were working from here. Great live version tho.
The studio version is indeed a different vibe however this live version has that raw grit
Either one I just love The Who
🎶✌️🎵
Miss Blondie know things. 'Live at Leeds' is one of the best live recordings. "Young Man Blues" and "Summertime Blues" are also first class, and the other three songs on the album are excellent.
While we are at live things, the first side ('A' side on the first LP) of double LP 'Absolutely Live' by the Doors is a must, somebody should make reaction on the whole side ("Who Do You Love" plus the medley of four songs) in one reaction, because this side functions just perfectly all-together. This side is the best live performance of rock. Of course, the whole album is marvelous, each and every song on it.
Talking about live recordings, "Roll It Over" version on Eric Clapton's Rainbow Concert is one of my favorites. Along with Clapton you can hear Pete Townshend, Ron Wood, Steve Winwood, along with excellent rhythm section (Ric Grech, Jim Capaldi).
Why thank you Mario
Coming from you it's a huge compliment as you Really Really know about all the Greats
🎵🤘🎶✌️💜
@@missblondie2393 Oh thanks. Just like you. Whoever suggests 'Magic Bus' from 'Live at Leeds', he/she knows the things. I lived through it, I am 62, and I never got passed this punk phase. I didn't like it, I knew where to it will lead us this simplicity and stupidity. It was all just a fashion trend, didn't have a lot with music. So, till this day I am listening exclusively to classic rock. I even don't listen to post-punk music of classic rock performers, the classic rock vibe was killed by punk, so I only listened to the pre-punk ('76 and before, there are really rare good post '76 records) classic rock for whole my life. Why not, why lowering my standards by following fashion trends, :) .
@@MarioPetrinovich I understand exactly what you mean I'm just a bit younger (54 🤫) and I was caught smack in the middle of it all....however I stayed true to Classic Rock.
Imagine being a teen throughout the 80s and not into all that heavy heavy synth sound
I must say I adore Lita Ford who stayed true
What a shredder and voice
I think next month I'm going to show her some love

Here's a preview let me know what you think even if you don't like it Lita is Hot and great energy

@@missblondie2393 Uh, that was excellent. Your taste matches mine, :) . In the old days it would be Suzi Quatro, :) . Sometimes I really regret my decision to don't listen anything post punk. Remember Joan Jett and 'I Love Rock'nRoll'. Kirk Hammett from Metallica plays solos the old, classic, way, and numerous other examples of good music. On the other hand, old classic bands became washed off, pale, most of them abandoned the old way, tried to adjust. And I had to see all this, people dropping off their hippy clothes and started to dress like Latino lovers, people in their forties trying to behave like they are teenagers, they all looked and behaved like old whores, with too much makeup trying to hide their age. Disgusting. I appreciated more the bands that just disbanded when punk came. Very few of them remained true to their vibe after the punk, like Grateful Dead. And then came 'Double Fantasy' by John Lennon. Among all this craziness and foolishness this 40 years old guy made music for 40 years old people, completely staying out of this mess. John Lennon really was a character. This album isn't one of his best, but it clearly shows how great this guy was. He wasn't a follower, that's for sure, he was the leader, :) .
BTW, too bad this channel blocked your last post (it cannot be seen, although I can see it). I hate when TH-cam channels do this. Maybe this channel automatically blocks posts with links in them.
The Beatles "magical mystery tour " utilized a magic bus.
The Top 5 Best Bands ever. Kieth Moon was the Best Drummer. Live at Leeds. Rock On⏳🎸
I agree Keith is my favorite drummer
Glad you enjoyed the song

Around 1,600 pounds I actually Googled it

Studio version appeared to my ears as acoustic. Which I appreciate a lot. Though this ain't hay!
Ɓo Diddly
thunderous ?.. sorry but this is totally weak sounding mediocre live version of this tune..
they did so much better ones... the whole show was toned down on purpose
