Keith Moon on drums. Legend.
Keith Moon!!! Best drummer of all time!!!
Keith keeps his eyes constantly on Pete. Interaction is phenomenal.
Pete guided keith with signals.
Because Entwistle is usually playing solo bass. Pete is the rhythmic one.
"I don't know who that drummer is..."
Oh my mate, you have a deep deep dive ahead of you =]
I'm sure he'll enjoy the journey, The Who have to be the greatest live band!
Keith Moon is the legend on the kit. No hi hats either !
i was there
Glad the youngster appreciates this!!! Makes me happy:)
The only band with 4 frontmen....
cream with 3 front men
Hey man. That's probably the greatest live performance of any rock group in history.
That's what I said somewhere. Definitely!
Typical night for The Who 1968-1976
This group blew Led Zep off the stage at Columbia `69. Robert Plant said this was the greatest live band he ever saw.
Yep, Zeppelin couldn't even come close to The Who live.
I was there also. Not in the same league.
John Entwistle and Chris Squire often fought for the title of the best bass player. John won out, being voted bassist of the millennium. I cherish them both but John will always be the best, to me. A true pioneer of his instrument.
I've been playing bass since the mid 60's and they're my two biggest influences!!
Lead bass and lead drums. The Who is the best band live.
This was over 50-plus years ago - rock & roll performances like this don't exist anymore. Pete Townshend co-founder, leader, and guitarist for The Who, started the arm-swinging power chord moves; Keith Moon is a drumming Icon, John Entwistle a Rock Bass innovator; and Daltrey Singing - they all played Lead. Amazing band. Legends.
The Who was a curious blend of pop / glam / metal / punk. Before those terms were being used! They were known for the improv performances.
I was lucky enough to see them in 70s great days great people great memories 🎸🎶👍
Now you're talkin'. Yes, THE greatest R&R band ever.
Greatest Rock Band Ever
First time I've ever seen you bro. You just popped up here on TH-cam for me with "Young Man Blues" live so I'm going to subscribe and I'm going to hope and pray that you play more of The Who. Known by so many as the greatest band ever
Bassist John Entwistle was, in my opinion, the Master instrumentalist in the band.
The bassist started as a trumpist and used to play for more together with Townshend as a child . I think it shows
He played French Horn
Very cool. You are one of the few young metal guys actually going back to something that pre-dates Black Sabbath or Deep Purple. That drummer is Keith Moon, the anti-christ to every jazz drummer back then. Bill Bruford of Yes had "I Hate Moon" written across his sneakers. Unfortunately for Bill, The Who were a major influence on Peter Banks and Chris Squire! The thing about The Who is they were essentially led by the drummer, with guitar player Pete Townshend playing off of him. It was John Entwistle, the bass player, who was the actual time keeper. If Moon and Townsend went a bit off the rails they'd use Entwistle to get back on track. Great f*cking band, and a bit under-appreciated these days IMO.
Keith Moon was the greatest rock drummer ever. Live, in his prime, there was nothing like him. Holds true to this day. In fact, as a live act, no one ever came close to The Who.
Still the greatest live band I've seen.
Epic.
If you liked that one My Generation from their Live at Leeds album is a must. NO band played with as much raw power and energy back then.
Pretty well the perfect band in the early 70s
I saw them 3 times within a few months of this show, They were cataclysmic each time. Love your reaction to one of the great rock bands at their best.
Legend has it that Keith Moon lived next door to Steve McQueen in Malibu. Keith liked to practice into the wee hours and and Steve McQueen couldn't sleep, banged on Keith's door and almost beat the snot out of him. 😅
I just subscribed. I'm not sure why. It was probably because I am a serious Who fan. And also I like your vibe. I'll be watching and maybe a few suggestions and a few critiques. 😎
What? Someone never heard of Keith Moon?
"I don't know who that drummer is..." LOL! Well sir, welcome to the world of Moon The Loon.
There is a saying: "Your favorite drummer's favorite drummer is Neil Peart". Neil Peart's favorite drummer was Keith Moon. Also, when asked what his "desert island album" would be, Geddy Lee said "Who's Next" by The Who.
Moon the loon
The first punk band.
At your leisure, (not a reaction), you'd enjoy the entire festival.
“that” drummer. oh the humanity 🙄. at least he won’t be forgotten.
The Who invented Metal, end of story 🇬🇧✌️
The Ox, or John Entwistle, the bassist simply stood and played providing the foundation and sound harmonics that Moon and especially Townshend powered off of. Pete was especially on this day rifting on top of incredible bass lines. Daltrey, Moon always the frenetic drummer performer and Townshend then went off! Such energy! Such power! They were a foundational rock band for so much that came later, whether it be metal, punk or grunge.
That is "The" legendary Keith Moon on drums my good man. 🙂
You don't know who the F**king Hell Keith Moon is... OMG
John Entwistle Greatest Bass guitarist ever.
Written by Mose Allison in 1957.
Did The Who ever do a studio version of this?
Not that I can find
Yes, there is a studio version of YMB on their Odds and Sods album.
There’s two studio versions but, any live version is much better.
The kids are alright
Great song
If you like this one listen to the version fo "Live at Leeds", it´s even better, I think.
they didn't start there set until 2 am. played till almost 5am.
If you liked that, check out the best live album ever, The Who Live at Leeds, recorded in the same era.
All the times you see that windmill guitar player it’s the same guy- Pete Townshend
They began this set at 2' clock in the morning...there were charged like an electric powerplant at 2 o'clock!! Do you imagine?!😵💫😵😜
Who could do the same nowadays? Simply NOBODY
They had the sound of a runaway jet powered freight train
With no brakes. Hold on for dear life
no pete invented this arm thing and breaking stuff first punk band before punk times friendly rival from hendrix these bad boys from london were on stage since early 60
You must be Canadian!
yup! lol
Nic, "The Kids Are Alright" is a doc about The Who. You'd enjoy seeing them early on the Smothers Brothers TV show, (it opens the doc).

The version iive at the London Coliseum was even better ,warch the old stereo version of the doco The Kids are alright .not the 5.1 on the DVD
"...whatever the drummer's name is?"?!?!??!??
I don’t know if Pete Townsend was the first to do the wind mill guitar strum, but he did make it a trade mark of his playing..... as well as smashing up his guitar.
Keith Moon on drums also made a personal trade mark of destroying his drum kit and hotel rooms....... keeping the band poor despite their professional success. lol
Pete Townshend king of feedback
Keith " the loon " Moon

And Daltrey's voice!! FFS
He didn't know the GENIUS voted best drummer of all time (with Bonzo)... Okay, bye...
I know right, like WHO even is this guy
The war keine Band - sie waren ein Orchester.
I know this comment is late coming, but I want to say that when you watch this video understand that The Who had toned it down by that time in their career.
I don’t know who this guy is but he’s clueless! The Who invented heavy metal and punk rock! I feel sorry for him whoever he is. Do your research dude😡
"I don't know who that drummer is'???? Are you for real?
