There are lots of rock fans and critics that call Live at Leeds the greatest live album ever. All 4 of the band were just playing at such a high level.
That's the Bo Diddly beat you're hearing. It's the backbone of LOTS of songs since the 50s.
Check out the song "Bo Diddley" by Bo Diddley.
It was live in Feb 1970 the best live fu*kin` band on the planet.
Maximum R&B! From my favourite album (including studio releases), Live at Leeds. Oh man, what an LP.
The Who Live at Leeds spent a lot of time on my turntable way back when. "Young Man Blues" kicks off that record with howling ferocity. "Magic Bus" closes it out with a raucous take on the Bo Diddley beat. Sometimes called "shave and a haircut two cents", the Bo Diddley beat is a perennial rock and roll favorite going back to the song "Bo Diddley" by Bo Diddley. You can also find variations on it in "Not Fade Away" by Buddy Holly, "Willie and the Hand Jive" by Johnny Otis, Bruce Springsteen "She's the One", and David Bowie "Panic in Detroit", among others.
Greatest Rock Band Ever
I believe this was recorded with the intention of releasing an album. They also recorded their show the next day, at Hull. Thanks
Back in the day when playing harmonica in a blues style was a thing❤
By far my favorite version of this song. I can't help but turn this up!
From the greatest live album of all time. IMHO.
So Good, so loud, my favorite British band
That was the worlds loudest concert for more than a decade
This was one of the great sources of joy in my youth!
It's actually from around 1970. Might have been cleaned up in the 90s, but this is an old album.
Everyone borrows from BoDiddley
React to Bo Diddley and see if that rings a bell!
Great to see you Brad!
it's kinda the Bo Diddly beat. He's the only guy who has a beat named after him.
In my opinion.. this version of the song is the best.. Live at Leeds.. I was weaned on this stuff.. lol
9:57 It was originally recorded in 1970. Maybe the digital release you listened to was in 1995.
It sounds like the '95 mix, with the enhanced echo on Townshend's guitar at the beginning. The download only release from 2012 or so is the best sounding version I've heard.
This is a top five live album for me.
Live at it's best
WHO do YOU love?!
About the only thing that was the same as the studio version were the into and the lyrics.
It's just a Bo Diddley beat.
Always fucking pauses in the middle of best moments, the absolute lack of musical hearing is a part of guy's charm
🔥🔥😎
How’s your family?
Magic Bus = LSD. Know your 60s drug slang.
this was in 1969... this was just them doing them
February 14, 1970.
remastered in 1995
And again in 2001 and 2012.
I think Weller’s version is better.
Get to the hospital immediately that bang on the head could be serious.
@@brianshockledge3241I think it may be too late for him.
