    Great video. We have a place in north Kauai. Spend time Kauai and mainland. Have used Automatic flies and Mark White lures in both places, they work everywhere. Shane showed a great video putting a wire with a swivel through the bubble. Thanks

    Great vid I want to start whipping on the east coast as in NE for Albies but have a question on retrieve.... I saw one vid where the guy used the bubble as a popper, chugging it on the surface with the same set up. What area of the water column do you work your flies?

    Is whipping more successful than dunking in HI? What’s the ideal rod choice for whipping? Light action?

    • @HiFishGear
      @HiFishGear  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Dunking seems to be more successful for most people, it’s really how persistent you are when you whip. Ideal whipping rod is 7-9’ rated 3/4 to 1oz.

    Appreciate the tutorial. Would think to throw out floating poppers would be same?

    • @HiFishGear
      @HiFishGear  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Usually when throwing poppers it'll be mainline to leader to the popper with no additional weight required.

    Which Hammer Bomb do you use with this TICA pole and 20# leader? Also, what lb test is your braid? Mahalo 🤙

    Hi Bill, Thank you for the video. Do you tie your hammer bomb to the main line or do you use a split ring. Thank you.

    I always get dangles using this rig with hammah bombs. What am I doing wrong?

      Flip the bail before the HammerBombs hits the water, that might help

    What pound test do you use for like an omilu?

    Rapala knot is more for action, not really casting. The smaller the knot, the less it gets tangled but the smaller you go decreases the action, not entirely but it does. The bigger the knot the higher the chance of the fly, fumbling on it's self and tangling. Not bad video, especially for beginners, could use some improving but it does justice. Liking the vids, keep up the good work.

      what knot would you recommend?

    • @kytonmanakukalili5460
      @kytonmanakukalili5460 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MM-di7ux I just use uni knots with my flies never failed me so far and also no fumbling on it's self. Tried this knot a couple times and everytime I spent more time fixing my line then actually casting and catching. It's called rapala knot for rapala lures that's the only time I would use this knot is for hard plastics like poppers, sticks, cranks and so on. Hope that helped.

      Honestly it was a baitfish that was used in a bigger rod, but no takers.

    What # test for leader line?

    • @HiFishGear
      @HiFishGear  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Minimum 15# Test, I usually use 20# just because I don't want to lose a fly.
