I was thinking exactly the same thing! I always love a recorded studio version of any song over a recorded live version yet Free Bird’s excellent studios version had the unfortunate fade out…..but holy crap….this exists! I am thinking that this is just how they ended in the studio however for some reason the production opted a fade out originally…what a find!

I bought this album originally in the 70s and that version on the LP (The regular released version) fades before that final ending of the last minute or two. This must be from a later special edition collection album of previously unreleased versions. Because this extended mix was never available to any of us publicly back in those days and it certainly wasn't on the LP or what the album stations would play. It's really funny most people do not know that Lynyrd Skynyrd was the first Southern Rock band that used three lead quality guitarist 1. Gary Rossington, 2. Allen Collins, an in the last year before the plane crash 3. Steve Gaines. Gary Rossington is that slid lead at the beginning and Allen Collins was the lead soloist with Steve Gaines doing the middle lead to the solo at the end. And we can't leave out the bassist Leon Wilkinson and Drummer Artimus Pyle with Bill Powell on keyboard. Ronnie VanZant built that band and he was the force behind it all. If there is anything you want to know about Skynyrd feel free to ask because I know this group inside and out top to bottom. I'm 65 years old so I was raised on Southern Rock such as LS and a host of others.

Allen Collins, the lead guitarist, was a teenager when he wrote the music for what became Freebird.

This sounds was recorded in 3614 when the Swampers were recording some of the most iconic songs ever. Free Bird 🐦 is the singuitur song for Lenard Scinard.

Tasha is quite funny and was spot on intuitively with some of her comments on both the guitarist and his flow and energy as well as the subtext of the song. Fun commentary. Good luck, y'all.

This band is in its own category of music, Southern Rock would be the closest to an accurate description.
They were powerful before the plane crash killed three band members including the lead singer Ronnie VanZant. The other members of the band were seriously injured.
Ten years later they reformed with his brother Johnny Van Zant.
    They still are amazing.
The way you guys were into the song and the sound is the absolute correct response to a phenomenon of a song.

Great Song. Was the high-lite of concert I saw in Waikiki in 77. Lighters all over the place for this one!
Also, Radio DJ's loved songs like this. They got a break that lasted long enough for whatever...

The Oakland Coliseum 1977 video of this song is a freakin eye opener and must see if you enjoy their music. My jaw drops every time at their phenomenal stage presence and showmanship on top of all that top tier musical talent. Please watch it. A reaction to that would be awesome.

The opening line of If I Leave Here Tomorrow was a line by guitar player Allen Collins girlfriend and she asked him that question one day when they weren't getting along.

I’ve watched a number of reactions to this song and one thing that gives me a chuckle is that they all talk about how good the guitar solo is at the end.
What’s funny is it’s not a solo. It’s a 3 man jam. Probably the best 3 man guitar jam ever. That’s how good the musicians in this band are because at times it does sound like one monster guitar solo. These three guitarists were so good they could make it sound like one. Go back and listen to it again and you’ll see what I mean.

Tuesday's Gone with the Wind is probably one of their best even though it's a ballad. Just didn't get the air time like Freebird. Remember, back in the day, it was all about air time until you bought the album. Can't lie, surprised that you guys enjoyed it. Back in those days, music was about real composition, not like today.

This is the USA theme song . As a Native American, I'd proudly wave a southern flag . Even though they were from Florida this song is the ultimate. Russia, UK, Philippines, don't matter , this song is the epitome of the red white and fucking blue. Even black folks can recognize the best guitar solo they've ever heard. This song unites races . Just listen to that solo
