You pronounced the band's name wrong, man. It's pronounced Leh nerd Skin nerd. It's on the album cover!
Yeah, I can imagine hearing them again on the radio; 😊
Geeeee44zzzzaaaaaaa you fucking don dappa whippa snappa. Free the bird bro. These reactions crack me up. This is my reaction every time I listen to this rock stuff from the 70's. Shame these guys had the plane crash soon after this. There memories live on through others in the band that survived and continued... you gotta so Sweet home Alabama. I'm a free bird now. Bless up bro
Can you guys imagine hearing Free Bird for the first time again? Jezus….
I had the same reaction as the guy in this video...
Right?! Amazing! ✌🏻🤘🏼
order noted to make for the genie in the lamp
I just sat there jaw dropped the first time I heard it
It's kinda like hearing DragonForce for the first time, it's shocking and I love it
When he says "this is a chill one" I was like prepare yourself bro🤯
😂😂😂. yeah, me too ("chill"??! i dont think soooo)
@@johnfirth6541 He said the same thing about Stairway to Heaven.
It leaves me breathless every time.
Masterpiece.
Ikr? Smooth? Yeah, for now. But you better buckle up.
I love watching Free Bird reactions because the listener is never prepared for where it’s about to go. And when it goes, it fucking GOOOOOES.
Edit: 7:28 Nate's face says it all
It's pronounced Leonard Skynyrd
@@richardrovario1126 I like how they say it tho 😂😂😂😂
You are so right
SAAAAAAMMMEE
It’s so fun knowing it’s coming 👏👏👏
My wife says this song doesn't know when to end. I say I wish it never has to.
Ditto!
I Agree!
The first half of the song is definitely guilty of that
Your wife is right ~ half of this song would have made it even better
@@karengarrison3666 -the second half wouldn't be the "free bird" part if the first part wasn't played.
RIP Gary Rossington 1951-2023, The last founding members of Lynyrd Skynyrd. Fly high FREEBIRD brother🕊
He will be missed 😢
❤😘😔😪😪😪
I was lucky enough to see the band back in 1992 and 2001. They put on an amazing show.
@@IrishCrow I was lucky enough to see them in '74 (or unlucky if you consider the riot at the end. The Birmingham police, turned off the equipment in the middle of Freebird, and announced the concert was over due to "noise complaints" needless to say, a real live riot happened) and I had tickets for the concert they were traveling to when the plane crashed
I still have those tickets
@Bluebelle51 thats a crazy story man!
"Lye-nard skye-nard" got me lol
That's how I pronounced it for years until I actually heard the name on the radio lol
@@CookieMonster0108it says it on the album cover 🤣
British dont know how to speak they own language
this isn't a song. this is a journey
PREACH
The face ONLY made when a soul hears the tempo change of Freebird for the 1st time.

Allen Collins on guitar. Easily one of the most underrated guitarists of all time
are you Italian?
Gary Rossington on slide guitar
@@Bigsmoke-so9vo hahah nah Puerto Rican mi amigooooo
@@luigicastro6971 your name sounds Italian 😂 very nice profile picture
All the guitar players in Lynyrd Skynyrd were phenomenal but I think Allen Collins was the cream of the crop.
I’m 16, my dad got me into this kinda music. It’s such a nice thing to see other people react to masterpieces such as this. Keep it up man!
Just a suggestion Rush the band is pretty good
You got a good dad brother
Im 17 and my dad was the same shame these kinda songs are getting forgotten about.
Im 10 my dad told about all those rock bands
same😁
60 years old and it still gives me goose bumps all over, and such a head banging sound like no other song written. 🇺🇸
I'm 63 and I do the same thing....
73 and goose-bumpley :)
It's worse knowing almost half the band died in a plane crash. RIP. GOD BE WITH THEIR FAMILIES
@@DaddyKratosOfTheShire such a damn shame man 😢 absolute amazing talent and probably people, taken from their familys and us fans too soon, I always think what people like these, Freddie Mercury, dime bag and more would have put out if not taken so soon
I was scrolling, I heard this song for hours, then I heard another song from a popular band today and it couldn’t even compare to this beauty of a piece
Starts low, mournful, beautiful, and the tempo picks up to host the best damn rockin guitar jam in rock history.
All original members dead now RIP boys. Ya done well.
This was one of my Mom's favorite songs. She wanted it played at her funeral. And we did play it at her service and I haven't been able to listen to it since then. Her birthday is coming up in 11 days and I just came across this video. Can't believe how you made me love a song again after 12 years of not being able to handle the pain of hearing it. Thank you. And thank you to your friend who mispronounced the name of the band for you but got you to the song because the music is what counts.
Best guitar solo in history, and I doubt it will ever be beaten. Absolutely mind blowing the first time you hear it.
Blue sky the Allman Brothers will give it a run for its money
@@salahuddinnashid4054 That's good but it's not even Duane's best. Layla and Loan Me A Dime is better in my opinion.
A gift!
Hands down the best ever
Nope, best guitar solo goes to David Gilmour's Comfortably Numb
Allen Collins shredding, he wrote this riff/solo when he was 16 years old. The Guitar Army 🎸 🎸 🎸
Green Grass and High Tides?
My favorite guitarist of all time. He’s a wicked, good rhythm guitarist he came up with some of the most bad ass riffs in the history of rock ‘n’ roll.
Was t this his audition to get into the band?
I’ve heard this song a million times and I make the exact same faces you do still. I recommend listening to the solo full blast in your car on the interstate.
🤘🤘 Kick on the cruise control because it is physically impossible to keep from stomping the gas to the beat!
Got my first two speeding tickets to that song. Not surprised at all. Third one was to money for nothing, another dangerous sonh
I was at 100 mph flat for like 15 miles straight on a Saturn vue lol 😂 it shaked like if I was time traveling lol 😂
LMAO - Me about 135 mph in a 69 Cutlass 442 on US 1 heading back from St Augustine - No Shakes Road Like a Limousine -Speedo only went to 130 it was straight Down 135-140 This was back when cars ran on Gasoline soon to be leaving us
I definitely got at least one speeding ticket in Georgia or Florida listening to this with the windows rolled down. Sadly it was definitely towards the end of the song and not at the beginning... Rate of speed varied greatly in seven minutes.
I saw this live 5 times. My life is fulfilled.
nothing like it, Bill Bill! Good times...
I was at the last concert before the plane crash. Grew up in Miami, saw them numerous times. Amazing group!! ❤
Any of them were you tripping balls?
Ah I’m jealous !! Niceee
Allen Collins isn't a house hold name, but his guitar solo in freebird sure is!!! Perhaps the best rock solo of all time! And to think he wrote this song at 17yrs old......
Not the whole song
I’m pretty sure Gary wrote the slide part when he was in highschool
Allen with his Gibson Explorer tearing it up!
“This is a chilled one”
There will never be another song like Free Bird
Nope
There is through the fire and flames but it's over kill and doesn't have the same feels as this song, free bird wins again 😂
its fun to experience someone being introduced to something you hold dear for the first time, really cool, positivity being spread and all for free
Been listen to Skynyrd for over 40 years and it's still gives me chills. I guess I'm not the only one.
Your not alone dude..
@stevewise2932 Absolutely Right! I was graduating from high school, and there was a ballot to put for the main song to be played for Graduation Day, so a majority wanted this song. However, instead, they played Billy Joel, who I can't stand and can't remember his AWFUL SONG 😂😂😂
This is exactly how I feel every time I hear this song.
After 50 years listening to it still moves me big time
Yes!!!
I saw them do this live in '94 I think it was, and it was still one of the best shows I've ever seen in my life.
Makes me want a Time Machine
I'm soo god damn jealous of you 😂
If they were that good in the 90s imagine how good they were in the 70s when the original band was alive
You really must see a live recording of them doing this song. Three amazing rhythm/lead guitarists.
Vocals: Ronnie VanZant
Piano: Billy Powell
Bass: Leon Wilkerson
Drums: Artimus Pile
Guitar: Gary Rossington
Guitar: Allen Collins
Guitar: Steve Gaines
The whole band is fantastic! I love these guys.
I recommend the Oakland live video.
I know for a fact that Ricky Medlock is the lead guitar doing the solo now (& has been for over a decade). I've been backstage watching this, my ex is a good friend of his. You should see all the guitars he has!!!
I just watched it live for the first time and was annoyed there were so many guitarists! I thought maybe it was because the original guy with long grey hair was too old?? lol 😆 I wanted it to sound like this recording. But now that I saw your comment I'm curious if this recording has the same number of guitarists and I just hear it as one? 🤔
@foxchasejrt1 definitely summer 1977 just before the crash, oakland coliseum, day on the green, same time as Peter frampton was riding high!!
Why do I get the feeling that you’ve never heard Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen. It’s an absolute must.
Queen in general.
I love watching first-time Free Bird vids, smiling and thinking, "Just WAIT..." all the way through. Skynyrd baby!
Breaks my heart you haven't heard it until now.
Makes my year to see someone discover this masterpiece
"This is a chilled one" oh my sweet child 🤣
I would recommend "Dick Dale - Misirlou" as well
Yeah I caught that as well lol
These are our hometown boys from Jacksonville Florida. Having been born in Jacksonville and knowing my oldest brother went to school at Terry Parker High School with the Van Zant’s we knew these guys long before they hit it. True Southern Rockers
You knew the family throughout high school! That’s amazing man
That's awesome. I had no idea they were from Jacksonville. I'm actually moving there in June. Is there a tribute or place dedicated to them I should visit once I'm there.
Righteous! I went to Wolfson, w/F. Durst for two yrs before being sent to a military boarding school! I still have a house in Ponte Vedra
The Original Southern Rockers
That's awesome. Artimus Pyle, the drummer, is a cousin of mine.
My dad passed in 2009 and this was his favorite song
you just experienced southern greatness ..this song should be called i just hit it an quit it cuz im a rockstar and you cant control me..but freebird is good too..
Nathan, I love how you enjoy music many of us have love for decades. I laugh with joy as I watch you sink into the vibes. Well done!
It's a beautiful thing to witness someone fall in love for the 1st time with music we've been jammin to for years!! Kinda gives it new life & huge props at the same time!!❤❤❤
still the only song ive ever heard where the guitars actually sing
Hotel California too
the chain by fleetwood mac
This song is so much a part of my family. My nephew passed away and my sister (his mom) put a memorial video for his funeral and it pretty much sums up his life and our family.
This song plays with so many damn emotions but it’s amazing
Yeah, it’s a jam, sad cause remembering old times, good times,my dad been gone 6 years
We would listen to jams and have a great time,,and I’m 57 and choking up, miss you pops
One of the best southern rock bands ever... and it's pronounced *Len-rd sken-rd*
RIP: Ronnie Van Zant, Steve & Cassie Gaines U R Missed 💔🤘🔥 "Lynyrd Skynyrd- Simple Man" is a must. enjoyed your reaction, thanks.
More like lynn-rd skin-rd
@@Psycholosopher "The Doobie Brothers - Black Water (From Rockin' Down the Highway: The Wildlife Concert)" when I listen to this song, I sometimes get them confused with CCR, because it reminds me of their song "The Midnight Special" what do think? These are two of my favorite bands
@@mamaflush9945 I like credence and doobie brothers. My three fav bands are Journey, AC/DC, and Queen. I’ll have to check out the midnight special never heard of it. Also I wasn’t around at the time of these bands I’m only 21 my father got me hooked on classic rock so plenty I haven’t heard of.
@@Psycholosopher oh wow... would like to be you again, getting to know all of this great music again would be something 🔥📻🎶🤗
I’m a 61 yr old drummer and imagine me in my teens playing, Lloyds stereo cranked to the max and jamming with the boys on my kit….over and over again. Really, I had the best neighbors and family. Never complained. The 60s and more so the 70s, the greatest decade of music I feel, we’ll ever know.
Am in tears man( of joy) ....best reaction to free bird ive ever seen . powerful sounds .
“I didn’t know where it was goin n boom! N it was just wooh!”
Very accurate assessment.
I just love Nathans reactions, so pure, new and free. I think it's so funny the way he pronounced Lynyrd Skynyrd yet there is a pronunciation guide right on the album cover, just above his head!!!! I don't blame him though...hey! I'm almost 70 so I know all these bands and song names and sometimes even I'm stumped!! Actually there are quite a few newer bands that I'm not familiar with, but I'm willing to listen and learn cuz music is part of each person's soul.
What a glorious song, beautiful in so many ways Freebird is a classic anthem that never gets old...like ME!!!
Skynyrd has some great tracks 🤗
they originated in Jacksonville Florida USA.
the guitarist is Allen Collins, who kills this solo. but they have had multiple guitarists throughout the years
I saw Lynyrd Skynyrd live in the “Warehouse March 30, 1975”
New Orleans,La.
It was the Nuthin’ Fancy Tour
I was 17 years old at the time…
I am truly blessed.
This what we used to call a JAM.
It's great to hear you feeling Lynard Skynard--posibly the most underrated American band!!
Please never stop making these
Freebird was our class song when we graduated HS and Simple Man was the song I danced to with my Mom at my wedding…absolutely love Skynyrd.
I feel happy when watching you react to these songs that I've grown up listening to once my dad got me into all this stuff.
i’m 19 but my parents always played this song, i wish i could remember my first time hearing it
Watch them do this live in Oakland,Ca….in a stadium….it’ll blow your mind…..all guitars going straight in with the piano….🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Jacksonville , Florida USA but really all over the South East Southern Rock genre of music , it was always on the radio since I was 4 years old , I'm 54 years old now .
SAW SKYNARD IN 77’…..7 GUITARS ALL JAMMIN TOGETHER AT ONCE!!!!
This band was one of the best "Southern Rock" bands in the U.S. and is in the Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame. They reached their height in the 70's but suffered great loss when the band's chartered plane crashed in 1977.... killing 3 founding members & injuring the whole band. They reformed in 1987 & still tour today.
BTW... their name is pronounced l Iike:
[Len-URD (like bird)] [Skin-URD]. Thanks for reviewing them! 👍
Wasn't iT Zepp's old plane ? Sad day for music....😢
Burned up many a dance floor to this in my years and heard it Live three times, always a freaking winner!!!!!
Another Lynrd Skynyrd is Simple Man, slower song but really good
Shinedowns cover of Simple Man is amazing too
Lynyrd Skynyrd is pronounced "Linnnerd Skinnard". The band chose their name from the teacher they had in Jacksonville, Florida bt the name of Leonard Skinner. These boys were life long friends from their youth. Amazing musicians that unfortunately experienced so much tragedy. But continue to live on through their music. 🤩👍
What makes this funnier is that the pronunciation is right under neath of the name on screen
I want him to listen to stairway to heaven by Led Zeppelin so bad
You have 3 guitarist’s. Allen Collins, Gary Rossington and Ed King!!! All exceptional!!!
I was 9 years old when I first heard this song. I'll never forget it
I wish I could here this for the first time again. It was face melting. I want to feel that again.
Simple Man is another song they absolutely crushed 👌🏼
Incredible song
My 2nd fav.
Lynyrd Skynyrd
The ballad of Curtis Lowe
The Songs about the lead singer’s role model, growing up a legendary black man
A must hear
You’re welcome, boss
@@otto5580 fantastic song also!
My favorite
I just caught the freestyle at the end and it totally crack me up. But it's completely appropriate for the feeling of the music definitely. That was great.
Oh my... did he just say this is chill!!! Strap in big fella, youz iz about to take a ride!!! 😎🤘
Im sure I heard Free Bird before I could form a sentence and several times a month for the past 50 years so my brain just cant wrap around what it would be like to hear all these classic rock songs for the first time after not growing up with them. No way would my life had been the same without classic rock, I feel lucky to have had it guiding me. Long live Rock N Roll! 🤘
My very 1st concert. I was 14. Veteran's Stadium, Philadelphia. It was beyond amazing. I still remember it like it was yesterday. ✌️❤️⭐️
BTW, I was yelling at you, IT'S NOT OVER YET!!! 😁
And they're from Alabama, USA. They have a very sad backstory. Half the band died in a plane crash. 💔
I looked up and saw Ronnie, in Heaven, Smiling. His Work is Goes On!
Ronnie Van Zant was one of my absolute favorite voices in all of Southern Rock. Legendary band, and they deserve their place on the leaderboard; truly one of the great pioneers of the genre.
I know perfection doesnt exist but that guitar solo was perfection to me
You crack me TFU. Keep up the great entertaining reactions.
You NEED to listen to Lenard Skynard - Simple Man. Probably one of their best songs, if not the best, in my opinion. It hits you deep in the soul.
Spelled Lynyrd Skynyrd
This is a chill one... It's smooth... Oh boy, he doesn't know...
These guys are from Florida & Alabama . They were part of the southern rock bands that were big in the mid to late 70’s
You forgot about California (Ed King) too.. 😜
My second time watching you react and I’m going to binge today! You’re reactions are very entertaining. “Who’s the guitarist?” My answer,” Which one?” 😄
Most Fl Southern Rock Bands back in the day had three guitarist - another great one was the Outlaws the Fla Guitar Army
Listen to voodoo child by Jimi Hendrix (:
I second this
How to pronounce the name of the band is ON the album cover! I love it! Simple but awesome times to live through take my word for it.
“Oh this is a chill one, one you can relax to”
Me: oh buddy you just wait…
My favorite band literally everrrr ❤️ RIP Ronnie van Zant 😢 💔 🙏🏼
Really enjoying your content! Such nostalgia, watching you experience the music. Fantastic stuff. I recommend "Albatross" by Corrosion of Conformity. Sounds metal I know, but it's much more of a 90's wail kind of sound. Thanks for the vid.
My man hearing southern rock for the 1st time & gettin off!!! Love watching dude as the music transitions from laid back to the timeless jam it is!! He's feelin it, guys!!!❤❤❤
Lead guitarist was Steve Gaines and lead singer Ronnie van Zant died in a plane crash.
One of my favorite Lynyrd Skynyrd songs is Sweet Home Alabama. I grew up with 60’s-90’s music from my grandparents and it introduced me to an amazing world.
Great Grandparents Cherish Them
Love Sweet Home- you can’t help but gyrate to that music.
Check out the live version in Oakland CA 1976. Something to see played live !
1977, that is
I heard it for the first time watching that 70s show one night. My dad walked by and heard me say I wonder what that song is in the really like it. He loved being able to share something with me,that was ours, and we have so many good memories together,I know music will always bring my dad to me when I want to feel like being with him one day in the future (he is battling terminal cancer,I love him for the gift of music and am now sharing it with my son)
You nailed it, love you reaction, feeling the groove, you rock🤘🤘🤘
Kashmir by Led Zeppelin!!🙌
When this song gets a chokehold on you……
This song takes you on a journey.
My parents met in the 60’s and I was born in 89’. My earliest memory of this song is sitting in the back of my dad’s station wagon and when this song came on the radio…he…would…BLAST ITT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now as an adult every time I hear this song on a playlist I catch myself being transported, stop what I’m doing and vibing
🎶Looooooooord I can’t chaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaange🎶
Exactly what I'm telling you!!!
Fun seeing you.
Wish you'd been with us when it came out
One of the best band ever well done mate ❤️
(If you look at the album cover behind you, it tells you how to pronounce the name 😉).
They played this at the "Day on the green" concert in 1977, where I was in the front row... And I was *feeling it!* This concert was recorded on video and recording for all history and the video can be had from "Wolfgang's vault." Along with Skynnard, Santana, the Outlaws and Peter Frampton doing his Comes Live album played,, as well!! It lasted all day, the entire Oakland coliseum was filled with pot smoke and I had to pay the outrageous price of $8.50 to get in. It was 12 bucks at the gate and that was just not happening. 😆
Now, they're asking a hundred dollars a ticket for lawn seats to Foreigner... Sheesh.
I know, it’s crazy to think of how cheap the tickets were back, then by today’s standards. But at the time, it was hard to come up with enough scratch for a ticket.
@@fleetskipper1810 Yup. If I had to pay the $12 instead of $8.50, I couldn't have made it.
Early seventies they kicked ass This song lives on.
Steve Gaines, Allen Collins and Gary Rossington on guitar!!!!!
Damn, bro just tackled Free Bird... Props. It's a classic but it DOES kinda drag on. Certainly not everybody's cuppa.
Okay, it's not a classic like this, but would LOVE to see reaction to: DragonForce - Through the Fire and Flames. Heavy fast guitar and super high energy.
Arguably the best rock n roll guitar solo of all time. Now try Foreplay/ longtime by Boston!
Yep. Gooooooooooood suggestion
This is what you get when you have 3 awesome guitar players
Freebird outro always playing somewhere.☮️💜🤘🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸
That look at 5:30 like he rediscovered god😂
I want a cigarette after that song 😂
Well, that was a rollercoaster! Love LK. Love your reaction, made me cry with delight.
2:50 I was so excited for him to hear the solo
Ah yes, the TRUE American national anthem! Love your reactions my man!
Might I suggest Alice in Chains, Nutshell and Man in the box?
