  • This is the twenty-first main series original composition on this channel.
This time, I composed a chill yet slightly melancholic low-tempo track with the sounds of conventional instruments, such as the piano, guitar, bass and drums. I also made extensive use of modal mixture just like in the previous one. Chromatic mediants, Phrygian mode, tritones, you name it, you will find them in this piece.
This was made using SMP v1.4.2 and CyanSMP64's Super Mario 64 soundfont (with no changes to the .sf2 file whatsoever). The key is initially C minor, but the tuning changes to Eb and then to F# after modulations throughout the track. The BPM remains 110 throughout. I hope you enjoy.
Lastly, there is one more musical particularity you may notice upon listening to this piece, but it's up to you, the listener, to find out what it is. Feel free to share it in the comments if you do.

Oh boy you know I'm gonna love it when those chromatic mediants start hitting Mama fucking mia
This is amazing in general :)

I PROMISE I didn't read the description before I typed that and I use those all the time in my writing and my ears are fine tuned to detecting them XD
slide transformations, the chord relation from 12tones (when chords won't share) vid, doubly chromatic mediants and tritone cadences too :)

@@jamespeterson1630 Spot on. I do remember using i-biii chromatic mediants in this composition for example. And that's also where the melodic tritones come from, as the b3 of b3 is b5.

How can you say this composition is "chill" when it's fire ? 🔥
With all the modulations and chromatic weirdness, it sounds so strangely pleasing
But I can't, for the life of me, figure out what that "musical particularity" is. If I were to choose, it'd be around the choice of instruments cause that's one hell of a cultural diversity mix

Many thanks for checking out yet another original piece on this channel! You're probably the most consistent commenter on there, and I love to see what you have to say every time.
I also like your guess for what the particularity is, however there was something different implied there... here's a hint: pay attention to the chords.

@@RemixerDarken Thank you 😭 well you're the most consistent artist I follow
      AND OH MY GOD
THEY'RE ALL UNDERAGE CHORDS (sorry, bad joke)
Man, being able to make such a good music only from minor chords is some kind of powermove from another dimension
The fact that it isn't precisely noticeable says a lot, kudos
