    The wheels on Doug’s bronco were factory from 1992-1993, 1994-1996 had factory Alcoa wheels. His center caps were factory for those wheels but they are technically not the correct wheels for his specific example

      The rims on dougs are factory ford but not from that year they where from the earlier 9th gens ford with the lariat and colt trucks.

      Jay Allen if you google 1993 dealer brochure for the bronco they are a factory option.
      The later trucks had the polished forged rims by Alcoa, instead of calling people dense in your other posts maybe look into what they are saying, you might just learn something...
      92-93 had the rivets. Ford “special” edition bronco Nite had them standard equipment.

    Many older factory Broncos had the rear tire carrier prior to the 5 generation trucks (91-96). It was actually an option. Also, those were bone stock Ford locking hubs on the front. They used them for years prior to going to the unreliable auto locking hubs.

    I also thought Doug's review was hypercritical. I bought a little less than year-old 96 Eddie Bauer with a 5.8 Windsor that I will never part with (I have buying offers almost every day I take it out!) till it passes to my Grandson when I'm gone. As a shade tree mechanic, it has been relatively easy to repair with plenty of available parts. It looks great and runs like new. I learned at the time in the Army from an oil analysis engineer the following method to extend the engine life. Add Slick 50 (or QMI) to a synthetic oil change, change it at 3,000 miles and thereafter use only synthetic oil at recommended intervals. At approximately 185,000 miles later the engine doesn't burn a drop of oil between changes and looks and smells clean as the day I bought it. Just an observation, but I see alot of these Broncos rolling around town, but hardly ever, sightings of its equivalent Chevy Blazer or Dodger Ram. Hmmmmm

      My '96 blew the head gasket around 262k, new motor has been treated like a baby (not like the other one wasn't, but this one is as if I am constantly watching a baby monitor). My friend joked that I will be buried in mine and he is correct.

    Don't forget if you remove that little cable under the drivers seat it will go all the way back like the passenger. Well worth the 2 min - thank me later for those that don't know.

    All Ford Broncos were four wheel drive. With no exception. F-Series trucks that shared the same cab might have been two wheel drive or four wheel drive, but no Bronco left the factory only ever able to power the rear wheels. Hopefully that does not change with the new model.

    The Early body style (1966 to 1976) numbered about 200,000 and it was its own chassis and very cool so they are really expensive and collectible. While the Full-Size Bronco in this video (1978 to 1996) numbered about 1,000,000 and used the corresponding F-150 chassis. Parts are cheap and easy to come by. They are great fun and easy to live with as a daily driver, except for MPGs. They can be modified to meet just about every daily-driver or off-road need, so they will continue to be desirable. Just buy a used Full-Size Bronco and throw in an after-market entertainment system and a backup camera and you've got a capable 4x4 that's inexpensive and does everything a modern SUV does.

      To be fair the 1st gen Bronco 1966-1977 used parts from the F100 Mustang Falcon Galaxy etc many interchangeable parts.

    The spare tire was actually an option for all years of the Bronco. My Bronco is a 88 year model and it has a factory spare tire carrier.

      spare tires where standard on all full size broncos. The standard application was inside the cargo area. (which limited your tire size to ONLY P235. Then part of a package or alone was the outside spare tire carrier. If you deleted the outside carrier that automatically put the tire inside.

    First of all, your wrong right off the bat, 1992-'96 was were the last 4 model years of a generation that actually lasted for 16 model years! 1980-1996! 1988 was the start of what they call 'mid generation refreshes'.

    Dougs review was ignorant and stupid. There was a reason the Bronco was so popular. it was top dog at the time. I love my 96 and like you said it is easy to work on.

    1:14 the Auto hub locks engaged based on wheel slip. Vacuum hubs didn't see the light of day till the 10th gen f series.
    1:32 You missed that some Broncos came with quad shocks up front and some didn't. Adding quad shocks was part of a handling package for better off roading to keep the front wheels on the ground. And you can bet money it was worth having the extra shocks.
    3:41 Broncos could be ordered either way all years. internal tire or external tire. I personally like having a external spare for more cargo room.
    4:44 Personally I like not having carpet on the tailgate because loading and unloading snags the carpet. However adding the carpet did lower highway noise. Not all Bcos came with a rear headliner. That made a major difference on the amount of wind noise in the cab. I like looking in pull-a-part places just for the rear headliner for the Bronco. great upgrade.
    6:09 The power difference between the 302 and the 351 is quite noticeable. The 302 is only 15% less hp and torque then the 351 but by the time the rubber meets the road the power loss feels much worse. However the 302 is more rev happy. i.e. the 302 can do 2500 to 5500 longer and further with less engine vibration with more driver confidence.
    7:36 Divorced t-case and twin stick is completely different but I understand why you used those terms.
    - Divorced t-case is when the t-case isn't bolted to the back of the transmission. A twin stick t-case has a low and hi range selector for the front and real half. making it so you could put the front in hi and the rear in low range. just some FYI info.
    I still think you should keep the Bronco. But I also want to see more autoX videos and selling the Bco would put more funds in to the autoX fun. I'd buy it but I currently have 3 Broncos. Don't need another.

      1:14 Yes, auto-locking is what I was referring to. I assumed that they were vacuum-operated like the newer ones.
      1:32 My Bronco has the dual shocks up front! I totally forgot about that being optional.
      3:41 I didn't realize that the external carrier was optional for so long.
      4:44 Mine has the rear headliner, too!
      6:09 I've driven both and could never tell a difference. Obviously the 5.8 has more potential due to the larger capacity and torque, but the 5.0 is plenty adequate for most.
      7:36 Doh, I forgot about actual twin-stick t-cases! I was referring to manual trans/manual t-case Bronco's literally having 2 sticks in the floor hump. A buddy had one growing up and we always referred to it as a twin-stick versus my family's auto trans/manual t-case single stick like the one I own now.
      I really do like the Bronco, I wouldn't have bought it if I didn't, but I have too much going on demanding my time and I really don't use it enough to justify keeping it, and it's not big enough to tow.

    9th gen f-series trucks wouldn't have had vacuum actuated hubs yet, they came with manual hubs like you show or auto hubs which were mechanically actuated. When you put it in 4x4, the transfer case would engage the front driveshaft/differential/axles and when the hub receives power via the axle when it's in 4x4, it will lock in, when you take it out of 4x4 the hub receives power through the wheel and unlocks. If you jack up one of the front wheels on a truck with auto hubs it's a little easier to see, by turning the driveshaft or axle by hand you can hear/see the hub engage and the wheel will start spinning and if you then spin the wheel by hand it will disengage. Been through the hubs (manual & auto) many a time on 9th gen trucks, auto hubs did have their set of issues, but if you understand how they operate and make sure they're engaged when you're in 4x4 and disengaged when you're not, they work just fine. I believe Ford recommends moving the truck in the opposite drive direction 9inches when switching between 4wd and 2wd to ensure they've. Overall well done, like you said, there's not a whole lot to them!

    I enjoy Doug's reviews as well, but I don't like his dougscore system, particularly in the way that it lumps all vehicles together in regards to their performance, he scored the Bronco super low in terms of performance, but also compared directly to million dollar plus hyper cars performance. Doug needs a little more nuance in his scoring system, one for exotics, one for affordable performance, one for non performance cars and a truck/suv category.

    Not all Broncos has auto hubs, there were still a few even in 96 that had manuals which is also a common swap because you can’t really buy replacement parts for the automatic hubs.
    Neither did they all have manual transfer cases, nor was that the reason they had the bump in the middle.
    However all models (except full bench seat trucks) got the shitty plastic console in the middle.
    I’ve had 3 Broncos now and some family has had about the same or more. Repeatedly we have seen the 5.8 turn out better fuel mileage then the 5.0 and for having similar power the 5.8 sure pulls a hell of a lot harder the 5.0
    It’s such a noticeable difference that we won’t buy the 5.8

    My 96 bronco had the same wheels as the one he reviews and they’re factory wheels. The spare tire mount on the outside of the truck was an optional feature that mine came with too. Oh and don’t worry about 180k miles, mine has 230k and runs amazing with the 5 speed in it. Love the vid by the way!

      If your 96 came with the same rims at Doug's Bronco has they've been changed from the steel wheels those rims are not Factory premium Ford Wheels those are American Racing rims dealers put those on trucks to remove the Factory steel wheels that's all some dealers may have put those rims on trucks to get rid of the steel wheels

    Thanks Bro. I have a 1990 FSB and when I watched Doug's, I was thinking some of the same thoughts as you.
    Although, my '90 has a tire swing in the back. Which was like Doug's review, but it's not hard to operate.
    My previous '84 FSB was a 6 cylinder and it was a manual transmission....so I had both shifters as you mentioned.

    My friend and I both have broncos in great shape (we both mechanics). His is a 90 with a 5.0 and mine is a 91 with 5.8. Both in factory condition and similar mileage There is a very noticeable difference in power between the 5.0 and 5.8. He gives up almost 70 ft lb of torque compared to the 5.8. Now HP ill grant that one its about 15-20 advantage to the 5,8 but not near as a drastic difference in torque is. 92-96 isnt much different in factory ratings from the earlier generation..

    I am daily driving a 1991 xlt with a factory external tire carrier. It was an option for many years. Also those hubs are stock manual locking hubs. Also you said broncos that come in four wheel drive... Ford never made a full size bronco without 4x4

    I would also add that the 92 - 93 model 5.0 was the same engine available in most Ford cars. However starting in 94 Ford switched to the 5.0 HO engine for their trucks. It has more power and different firing order for the sparkplug. The easiest way to know if it's an HO is look at the air box lid. If it has a MAS air sensor it's an HO. also I would mention that they used a different transmission starting in 94. It was a 4r70w. They eliminated the E4od on light duty line. There are several other miner changes from 92 - 96 like interior color choises. the location of different warning lights on the gauge cluster. Or the new body line that was added to the bottom of the doors in 94. There were also several options based on the package that was purchased. Overall it's a very informative video.

    Spare tire carrier isn't a later addition. My dad's 79 had it and so does his 94. The transfer case isn't divorced. It's bolted to. No center console because you could have a manual transmission and the shifter would come out of the hump area.

      Mine definitely are, they are a 17x8. The 15's on the one Doug reviewed were made by American Racing back in the day but it sounds like they may have been factory or dealer optional. They are still available new from ARE.

      the fake rivets were ford wheels for the 87-93 broncos. 94 started the no rivets.

    I like Doug too, but his videos are always full of white lies to make the more interesting. I also have a Maserati Quattroporte, same year as he reviewed. And that thing is full of lies! Totally dishonest to the car, but this video was more accurate, however
    First off the wheels. Doug’s are not aftermarket wheels. Those are a stock Eddie Bauer/optional XLT wheel.
    The auto locking hubs are centrifugal force, not vacuum. The vacuum hubs came later in the Super Duty’s, and were actually more reliable than the centrifugal force auto lockers. Most people replace those with manual lockers because the replacement spring in them is as much as a new set of manual hubs, and they’re more durable.
    The bumper is also stock. Again, later upper trim level XLT option.
    The spare tire. That’s not a “later edition”. That’s a trim level/factory options. XL Broncos came with the interior spare tire. XLT had the option of having the tire on the interior, or on the rear tire rack. Eddie Bauer Broncos had them on the rack. Both my 1990 and 1996 Eddie Bauer’s have the rack. They’ve been doing the rack since the first generation of Broncos in 1966.

    Does anybody know how to tell a 92 bronco nite from a 91? I’ve seen plenty of people saying there was no 91 nite bronco. I’m not sure what to believe because a nite bronco is hard to research. I ask because I’ve got one myself but I’m not entirely sure the year. Plz lmk if you know anything about these nite Broncos

    did Doug mention that the 1996 is the only model with tit steering wheel with a plastic bushing not steel. In my 1996 it broke 3 times. Great vehicles. Nice video.

    The wheels on the bronco that Doug reviewed aren’t aftermarket. My 96 has the same exact wheels

      those wheels are factory ford for the 87-93 bronco. And of course F-150
