When I paint I think about how painting always ends up taking so much longer and more challenging than I anticipated... and I love and hate it at the same time lol. It's uncomfortable to sit and work through a piece for hours and multiple sessions, then again there's really nothing else I'd rather be doing for that long that makes me so proud of myself regardless of the end result. ❤
This!! You described the experience perfectly! No matter how many paintings I do I can never seem to grasp just how long or frustrating the next is going to be. But yes always worth it for that feeling at the end 🫶
I also daydream when I make art, I don’t talk much. I talk when Im at my other job cutting trees in the forrest and when I eat lunch. Nice video, nice to see England too
I am reminded of John Singer Sargent's work. Your are very, very talented. I was never able to come to grips with color...so I do ink sketches, mostly faces. You are an inspiration, thanks - Dave
Fantastic painting! I don't usually like still life and interior design paintings but this one is so soft and cozy 😊 When I paint everything shuts off. There's a good portion of the time spent with absolutely no thought just music playing in the background which feeds the painting. When I start thinking I know it's time to stop drawing cause I'm out of focus 😄
Thank you so much, really glad you enjoyed it☺️ Oh that’s a skill I’d like to have, must feel amazing to have a completely quiet mind. Do you practice meditation or anything? Or does it just come naturally?
@@izzywebberart It comes naturally and I'm glad it does! I suffer from anxiety and panic attacks and I have tried meditation for this particular reason but believe it or not I was never successful in utilizing its therapeutic powers. If nothing else it made me feel even more uncomfortable, so I stopped trying to practice it.
I paint loose watercolour and usually spend the hour in a state of constant anxiety, being dragged along by drying paint and feeling one step from disaster. My main thought is why do I punish myself like this daily and how much does therapy cost?
Such a cosy vlog! I love watching your vlogs. They are relaxing and inspiring. When I paint I usually think about different stuff like work etc. Sometimes it's mindless but not often. I tend to listen to music too. Have a good day!:)
I also daydream and I think it's absolutely fine as long as the daydreaming doesn't stop you from actually doing things... That's when it becomes maladaptive daydreaming and it's a problem. Loved the video and the painting!
Oh I can definitely feel myself get lost sometimes but I seem to be able to carry on doing things at the same time… I’ll keep an eye on it! Thank you ☺️
Great painting - well done. When painting - I am focused on the painting I am working on, not really having any other thoughts in my head. Perhaps it is because I have been painting for many years and if thoughts suddenly appear, the thoughts are of a creative nature, when I am in this creative "moment" (painting) of Life. It is like you are removed from everyday thoughts...only using your creative part of your brain. A great "place" to be.
Ah that must be nice to be able to fully focus like that, I find that at the front of my mind is the painting and all the technical decisions but there’s always many other thoughts in the background. Although I would agree that it’s a happy and creative place to be, no space for practical thoughts!
@@izzywebberart I think you demand too much from your thoughts if they also have to be practical...other than with the task in hand (painting). 😄😉 I know what you mean, though.
I totally make up stories when I'm creating art stuff, the sillier the better, and I sometimes try to incorporate the silly idea into the picture, like I recently did a picture combining a luncheon date, an art date, and a bit of absinthe, and all the while I wove a silly story into the pic. I also think of stories looking at others' art, like your last painting here, which reminds me of the set from which Alistair Cooke used to introduce Masterpiece Theatre on TV, with a certain all-knowing professorial presence, only his was a high-backed chair, in a corner surrounded by books and globes. Everything in your painting looks like a dream gateway to something else, like your hinted-at out-of-doors through your window, the reflections on your inner painting, and the world-scape depicted in your inner painting. It's probably something in your light and dark interplay which makes such a static subject matter seem alive with possibilities. Can you give us a peak into your inner monologue when you painted this?
That sounds like such a fun piece! I’m glad you can relate!! Love that you said “dream gateway” I feel like I get to live in a beautiful visual world inside my head and I always hope for it to translate into my paintings. Slowly getting there. Oh I don’t know if I can explain, I think I’d have to write it down straight after. I tend to go off on tangents and follow multiple storylines at once, starting with something quite realistic and personal and ending in absurdity by the time I finish painting😅
Very nice painting and channel, subscribed:) about the Jackson's wooden panels you are using, do you need to seal them or just gesso the side you want to paint on? Thanks.
If I am not listening to something......music, podcast, etc.......then I talk to myself about what I am painting. Kind of telling myself what step to do next.
Oh thank you! My mum actually cuts my hair and we just sort of make it up as we go along 😅 just lots of choppy layers with a curtain fringe! I guess it’s most like a wolf cut… but grown out!
Izzy, te recomiendo poner tu voz al video cuando lo hayas grabado, ya que el final viendote pintar y hablar al mismo tiempo se percibia cierta incomoda y se trasmitia eso a los que te vemos.Felicidades por la obra, es preciosa.

I can relate, I’m only talkative when I need to be. Cool job! Glad you enjoyed the video, thank you 😊

Wow what a huge compliment, thank you! Good luck with your art🙌

I’m sorry to hear that, I know just how debilitating that can be. But lovely that you’ve found relief in painting! Wishing you well 🫶
The reflection on the glass surface of the painting in the painting (lol) is so cute
Thank you! It was a fun little bit to paint

Great video and painting. I normally listen to classical music when painting, helps me to concentrate
Thank you! I love that, classical music is the perfect vibe for painting
You are so chill... 😊

Lovely work! 👏👏
Thank you😊
Beautiful work!
Thank you!
Such a gorgeous video, I love it ☺☺☺
Thank you so much!
Ruang studio yang cukup nyaman tenang, sangat mendukung untuk berkarya.
Salam art from Indonesian 🇲🇨🤝
Very nice painting and channel, subscribed:) about the Jackson's wooden panels you are using, do you need to seal them or just gesso the side you want to paint on? Thanks.
Thank you so much:) they just need a few coats of gesso on the side you want to paint on, and I tend to do one coat on the back just to be safe
Is this a wooden panel that you cover with gesso? or that's something more complicated?
Yes just pre-cut wooden panels that I get from Jackson’s
Hi, what is the name of the piano piece you used in this video? The one before the restaurant.
The one that starts @6.06 is called ‘As I Dream’ and the one after is ‘In a French Bar in Stockholm’ (wasn’t sure which one you meant!)
@@izzywebberart Thank you!

Oh that’s smart I might try it to see if it helps with all the decision making 🤯
It is kind of like I am explaining it to someone else.......I call it talking to my brush....lol.
Apologies for the off-topic comment aha, but I absolutely love your haircut - what do you ask for?
Oh thank you! My mum actually cuts my hair and we just sort of make it up as we go along 😅 just lots of choppy layers with a curtain fringe! I guess it’s most like a wolf cut… but grown out!
Thanks for sharing. I think you speak nicely, add more of this content in your videos, it will boost your viewership.
Thanks for the encouragement! I will try to, slowly getting more confident😅
