On this channel we like to do a lot of dogfighting most videos are some sort of dogfight between 2 different aircraft as we explore their different capabilities. From time to time I like to dabble in Virtual Reality, I think VR is a great new technology and I love to show that stuff off for the channel from time to time.
If you enjoy war thunder or Microsoft flight simulator 2020 or even dogfighting in Battlefield 2042, consider getting yourself into Digital Combat Simulator by Eagle Dynamics, the Combat side of Aviation with the BVR and Dogfights really provides a different and interesting perspective on aviation. You can fly all kinds of combat aircraft including the F-16, F-15, F-14, JF-17, Su-27, Mig-29, Mirage and the F-18 Hornet along with many other aircraft and helicopters like the Ka-50 and Mi-8.

p-51 CAS or p-47 CAS if DCS has it
No the great video keep it up GS
Could do more missions like this using “American” aircraft only?
Someone messed up with th CARRIER, it's only supposed to have 4 wires not 5.
Can u do Gazzel vs all 5 gen jets plz
14:13 GS needs to practice his carrier landings. I saw that one-wire!
Must be why Jester is always so quick to bail.
one wire with no speed brake or DLC 😅 its OK, GS gets a pass for being a badass
How does it work though, he got the first wire so position was good, maybe he could't get the other ones because there was some bouncing ?
@@LoScorpioneRosso1 one wire means you almost smacked into the back of the ship. A proper glide slope will land you on the three wire the others are just there for a safety margin. Two wire is a little low, one wire is way low.
@@Raistlin161why do you number first instead of word first? “One Wire” rather than “Wire One”.
3:06 All those phoenixes look like a mass of tomahawks being launched. Absolutely massive show of force
Would have loved to see it on tac view
Imagine being a Navy crewman on board a cruiser, or destroyer, watching Tomcats get launched off the deck, coming back to make the most nerve wracking landing possible day in and day out... with all of the attention spent on how cool the planes are, and how awesome it must have been to pilot one back in the day, you almost forget sometimes that there are people back on those ships putting their lives in the hands of capable and competent pilots every day. Imagine going out there with the weight of that on the back of your mind. You launch off the deck leaving all of your friends behind taking for granted that it's just another sortie, and you'll come back in just a little while.
Thousands of soldiers, sailors, airmen, marines from lowly privates to top brass... from people that handle food to munitions...
You are their shield. You are their sword.
Your videos are more cinematic than many action movies I've seen. With a little story and voice acting, you can make your own movie. Imagine flying your Tomcat straight into an incoming wall of missiles as your missile alert is screaming at you from its sensory overload. That must be sweat inducing to be in that situation.
I'm surprised Jester didn't punch out prematurely yet again.
I’m a simple man, i see GS makes a F-14 video, I watch and I click like
Same 👍
I click with extra urgency if it is a fleet defense video on top of an f-14 gs video
Same
Amen
Frrr❤
That Phoenix volley into the Fencers was amazing! What a sight
Not an enjoyable one for the taxpayer
@@CaptainBiggles. More enjoyable than having a carrier knocked out of action.
I’m so glad you understand how the Phoenix actually works. I’ve heard other youtube channels bash it because they don’t understand that it climbs to 80,000 feet and then descends onto the target.
What were they bashing?
People who think all missiles go straight ahead, never heard of top attack.@@Aeroman08
LSO: "Too low. You caught the 1 wire." Growling Sidewinder: "Yeah, but what about those Flankers?!"
Awesome to see my old squadron represented VF-1!!!!
That livery brings back memories. As a kid my dad built a few model airplanes. He was also an aviation geek (me too/hence your channel). He built a model of the F14 Tomcat and it had this exact livery!
Looks like the Macross missile swarm. Never seen that outside of anime. Fantastic
Macross/Robotech is must watch.
I was thinking the same thing, very Robotech-like!
Ever seen Independence Day? Couple good missile swarms in it!
Absolute David Weber Missile Massacre.
This is what I imagined the Phoenix missile was designed to do. Extended range with a top down kill method in a large barrage.
It’s upstaged by modern missiles like the meteor, but for its day it provided a really useful capability.
This is what I pictured all those naval air-to-air scenes in Red Storm Rising looking like
This really needed a segment to watch the tac view and get a full after-action report of the losses.
This video is SO much better with Danger Zone playing in the background.
I thought you would say "...Switching to guns!" and keep the carnage going 😆
Beautiful rendition. I was onboard the USS Enterprise (CVN-65) in 2006 which was my and the F-14 Tomcat's last deployment with VF-31.
Loved seeing the Iowa-class battleships in the formation.
But were there TWO Iowas in the group? Where exactly were the going to bombard the s**t out of?
The one visible at the end is in WWII configuration too. SK-1 radar, the aft crane, floatplanes on the catapults. (No fire control director radars?)
nerd mode off
@@scolfaqsLooked like three
@@scolfaqs If there is any justice in the world, they are on their way to Iceland. Under the guidance of an Air force LT and a bunch of Brit and US Marines.
That massive smoke trail from the Phoneix at your back was sick!
ejecting over the ocean must be such a bad day, knowing a bunch of sharks lurking around
That was epic!!! Only downside is that you guys did such an amazing job defending so we didnt get to behold the CWIS😢
This is a great video. 🤩 Back in the early 80's I served on a Aircraft Carrier US Constellation (CVA-64) and loved watching the Tomcats flying around.
I know someone who flew in the VF1 Wolf pack. He was my idol as a kid. One hell of a guy. Love to seeing this paint scheme.
And that 1 wire at the end to make the Airboss mad at you. Nice!
Very Tom Clancy “Dance of the Vampires.” Corrected. Great stuff GS!
This video made my day! Love your videos, especially Tomcat videos. I’d been asking for this type of scenario, thank you so much. Very cool to see it play out. The image of the smoke trails coming off of all the phoenix missles was incredible. Would hate to be on the receiving end of that. Also love the wolf pack colors.
Nice demonstration of exactly what the Tomcats and the phoenix missiles were meant to do.
honestly the wings swept back on the f-14 is one of the best looking aircraft
I appreciate that you gave us that carrier landing cinematic like you did. I'm not opposed to you including the whole landing process in future videos, especially when it involves a Tomcat and a Carrier. I learn a little each time I watch one of your videos, even if they're meant for entertainment.
Jester: a lot of reds down good job buddy.
also Jester: one wire REALLY?
Tomcats fire Phoenix missiles...
SU24s "Why is the sky playing Raining Blood all of the sudden?"
Hey GS, I've got a suggestion for a video: You fly whatever aircraft you want in a BVR fight against either a MiG-25 or MiG-31. Great video by the way, loved seeing all of those phoenixes being launched. Keep up the great work!
Also I really like that VF-1 skin for the Tomcat.
Dude, thank you so much for your channel. I wanted to get into flight sims for a long time but just thought I was too dumb to figure it out. Now I’m learning the f18 (my favorite plane) and I just picked up the f14 to teach my son how to fly. He’s 4 and obsessed with planes. Keep it up man, love the content
Ace mission video once again G/S. Just got an x56 hotas , pedals and delan clip to see if I can get a Tomcat off the ground safely. Gonna be a huge undertaking for me, but looking at all the tutorials. Wish me luck Dudes !
There's GOT to be a way we can still use all of those old, but very cool Phoenix missiles. I know they're using some for hypersonic testing, but I mean operationally. I know it's a huge weapon, but there has to be something the military could use them for.
I know the Pheonix is cool but theres not really any reason to take it over the AMRAAM even if it has a longer range
@@ejdg8386 If the AMRAAM has enough range, then why are the AIM-260 and AIM-174B under development? Somebody in the US Military doesn't think the AMRAAM has enough range, when the potential opposition is carrying PL-15/PL-21 and R-73Ms. Hard to win an air-to air missile engagement when the opponents out range you. Stealth may or may not help.
Bro out here shooting missiles and going "whoops better eject there team mate"
Imagine free bird playing as the massive swarm of missiles fly towards their targets and start hitting
Another nice video from GS, you can really see the chaos and confusion in this massive aerial sea battle, this is what will be the modern sea battle engagement will look like. Each side will hurl their missiles at maximum range then the mix aerial close engagements where it's hard to identify blue from reds, and if a pilot will not be careful he might take down a fellow blue force.
Great job and the view was dope bro and I'm glad that you showed us the landing on the carrier. I always like the carrier landing.
thanks
Thanks man I appreciate you.
Yo GS, thanks for the video. Thats a ton of hurt a wing of Tomcats brought to those bombers. Have an pleasant day. Cheers.
5:00 I have seen things, you people wouldn't believe, Fencers on fire off the shoulder of Orion bright as magnesium... I rode in the backseat of a F14 and watched Phoenix missile trails glitter in the sky. All those moments... they'll be gone
Watching those Phoenix missiles fly was haunting
I need to know what happened to that Phoenix missile that went off active the first time
Met a man at the VA today who serves food. He served aboard the U.S.S. Enterprise
Is there a noticeable difference in flight characteristics after launching missiles? Does the aircraft feel more responsive after shedding the weight? The F-22 with bags didn’t seem that phased in the last video. Love the content, you have fantastic cinematic skills.
I think it makes some difference but not as huge as tanks or bombs due to the magnitude of weight. F-22 has insane thrust/weight and handling so even strapped with tanks, it’s still very good kinematically.
In reality yes. In DCS? No idea...
@@r2020E
actually a Phoenix has similar weight of a thousand libre bomb Mk-83 or about 3 Amraams and just the warhead is almost half an AIM-120
I remember a Fighter Pilot Podcast episode where they were talking with a Tomcat pilot about flying the plane. He went through a load out description and they asked if the F-14 flew noticably different with a handful of AIM-54s and Sparrows/Sidewinders and he commented, "Not really. The plane really didn't care." 🙂
I love it when you run these scenarios rather just a simple 1-on-1
Hell yea bro nice vid always looking forward to these
Look at all the "Aardvark-ski"!!! 😂😂
I'm sure Jester was happy about the 1 wire 😂😂
Love the fleet defense videos! Thank you😊
I can honestly say this the best video of yours yet...all those Phoenix missiles reminds me of the opening scene from independence day when they encounter the alien ship.
Except the tomcat would definitely kill that ship unlike the f-18s
Love that you included the trap on the carrier at the end, beautiful ❤
GS uploads F-14 video, I click.
Excellent piloting of the Almighty F-14A Tomcat man!!! Absolutely phenomenal vid💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
Absolutely unbelievable production quality, thank you so much
Love the video! The Tomcat is such a masculine and aesthetically pleasing fighter especially when haulin' butt with wings folded
I remember in war between Iran and Iraq one F14 shot down SU25 with the Phoenix and I saw that with my own eyes the Phoenix malts that SU25 in the air. Great job by you GS again thanks
I see Iowa class Battleship with an F-14
My face during the first 6 minutes: 🤯 That was incredible!
Looked like a lot of fun! This scenario would have been great for one of your 3D after action models
F-14 is a two tailed titan. Retired too soon. With modern upgrades, could still be a beast.
Fantastic video. Love the Big Cat! Good job counting your splashes, GS!
Oke, let's switch side for next video. A Carrier Fleet Hunter sortie looks fun. 🙌🙌🙌
i really enjoy these larger fights, please make more of them!
3:50 (vine) "look at all those chickens"
Yesterday, I saw a HypOps (yt channel) video between US Carriers and the Chinese Military. It's really worth the time, especially after this video here.
Best paintjob. Ever. Love the vids mate. Keep them coming :)
not sure how well itd fit your format, but you could take different screencaps from your videos and turn them into hi-res wallpapers? what brought it to my mind is when you looked over the f-14s left shoulder and showed all the smoke trails going up into the sky. you could monetize it thru your patreon if you wanted to, or upload them on your community tab.
just a thought. all those missiles hitting the fencers looked fucking sweet btw!
Looks like you stopped the whole strike with no hits on the fleet. Well done indeed!
So early the AIM-54s are still in flight
If only the aim54 was any good
That huge amount of Phoenix just launched and heading up.. looks like volley of fire arrows and its awesome
Brightly painted F-14's sitting carrior decks is so freaking cool.
Great Mission and Great Piloting! You are great at SA which totally helps your kills and not being killed...
Very enjoyable video...love that Tomcat!
The Phoenix missile is basically a 3/4-sized, air-launched Patriot missile. It was doing the job of the Kinzhal missile, 50 years before there was a Kinzhal missile.
The Kinzhal is Mach10 at 80000ft and only goes terminal above the target. I would say impossible or near impossible to shoot as it drops like a bomb launched directly above.
2142 OST??? That's some mad respect from us old timers my friend.
All that good work defending the fleet to have Jester probably complain about the 1 wire.
Fantastic video, lots of diverse action!
That early 70s wolf-pack livery is my favorite. Such a classic look.
It’s quite simple, GS posts a new video, I watch.
The production value is so good these days that I prefer these to some high-dollar movies.
👌🏻
I appreciate you greatly, thank you.
This is the most Epic video I've seen on your channel.
3 levels of defense.
1. Air Wing
2. Battle /Strike Group (CG, DDG, BB, FFG).
3. Carrier weapons systems (Sea Sparrow, Ram & CIWS)
Thanks!
thank you very much
Ok this is my new favorite Tomcat video
Niiiice Tomcat!!! maybe is the next full model...but now i'm in love with the F16...
The Battlefield outro was iceing on the cake/video
Thats a good day at the office for Doctor Tom!
Yay! The Wolf Pack from the Enterprise!
Awesome video GS, keep up the good work 👍
One Tico and one Perry to escort four capital ships? Must have been photo op day.
Imagine doing all that sweet pilot shit only to come back to the boat and catch a 1 wire in front of everyone….. 😢
Lold
"Just a walk in the park Krazanski!"
This was awesome! Try playing this same mission from the other side!
Beautiful visuals!!! I loved this :)
Never mess the the F-14 and its AIM-54 Phoenix missile.
I would love to see a bombcat mission
I really enjoyed this video! I can never have too much tomcat lol
But everything about this video was great!
Big support from Serbia brother!
Thank you brother much love.
Su-24 Fencer = poor man's F-111 Aardvark.
F-111=Rich man's F-4
that outro 🔥
Brilliant video and action as always but we definitely need to get you practicing your case recoveries and remembering to turn spoilers off 😋
Could we get some more WW2 stuff? The combination of the updated graphics and damage model makes those gun kills look amazing.
Fleet defence par excellence courtesy of GS and the F-14, what an awesome aircraft.
