Hi GS… I really like your videos on DCS. Very cool. But, I’m not a computer-arm-chair-warrior that doesn’t have the actual effects of G-Forces, mechanical failures of intricate machines, myriad of different circumstances and high-archy orders… Aside from that, I do appreciate your knowledge and with your practice as it does work on the DCS platform. Not pissin on you in the least! Anyway, I’m an old-school summina-biotch and have always wondered what it would be like to have a dual between a P-38 Lightning and an F4U Corsair. Both have the be late models, 1945’ish. Fully armed, mano-y-mano face-off! I’ve searched the web and even YT, but haven’t found anything. Always been intrigued when watching “Baa Baa Black Sheep” when they were “introduced” to the P-38 and they had a lot of draw-backs about it. Yet, I believe the P-38 was freaking awesome! Just want to experience which one would be the better Figher/Bomber, no Nationality involved, just the aircraft. Seriously - Do it!

I was barely a year old when it came out, but I watched it lots on cable growing up and it was definitely one of those childhood fantasy movies of maybe one day!
Does DCS let the ground units paint silhouettes on them? Because that guy's staring a collection. He's got the Hornet and the Viper, next up, Eagle and Raptor. "Gotta catch 'em all!"
My Dude, I strongly believe, if the intention is to keep it 4gen, that this mission requires the use of an F-15E Strike Eagle!, that Bird should kick hard!!
Not sure how I didn't find this channel sooner, I love sims, but glad I did as it's convinced me to finally pick up some good gear and get serious about the hobby! Also to me you sound like Jake Gyllenhaal which makes your comments that much funnier lol.
To be fair GS, this looked like an impossible mission with just one F-16. You need a couple falcons or hornets. Or just bring in a missile truck and flatten the entire area.
Lol this is turning into the Kobayashi Maru mission from Star Trek (an impossible training simulation that you cannot beat and is only meant to be a test of character) Seems like the B-21s need to be tasked with taking out more ground targets OR you need at least one wingman in the air to help deal with the Mig 29s initially.
You decently did well again, GS. I think it'll be an easy win if there's a DCS feature where your countermeasures are reloaded or if you will use an F-15E in this mission, given its loadouts and speed for defense as well. Try the Gripen vs Su-57 Felon close-turning boss fight since you already did the bvr version of the video in the past. Good job anyways, you're still among the best DCS players!
50 years ago we were given the job of testing the offensive capability of the ZSU 23/4. If you fly directly over the top of the unit it it scrambles the radar.
Damn, I was hoping you'd get to the target this time and for a minute it looked like you would. Super difficult mission, so it's time to bring out the big guns, F-15E Strike Eagle FTW! Looking forward to that, so do it ASAP.
Just s guess but i think there is some sort of LOD issue thats effecting assets on the ground. Up high itll default to a reduced LOD regardless but it might not be swapping out the high quality assests outside the frustrum fast enough.
You ever see those F-16s with ram coatings? Apparently they applied ram coatings to some F-16s designated specifically for SEAD missions. I wonder how much that helped with breaking missile locks, and just how much it could reduce the RCS of the F-16?
The F-16s RCS reduction program is called Have Glass, started in the 80s, and is applied to more than just SEAD F-16s (though they are often the first to receive the latest enhancements). For example Have Glass 2 (Pacer Mud and Pacer Gem I/II) has been applied to over 1,700 F-16s. The latest version, Have Glass 5, results in a 1.2m² radar cross section, compared with about 5m² for an ‘untreated’ F-16, so it is a very substantial reduction. By comparison the F-15 is at 25m², the (untreated) F-16 and MiG-29 at 5m², the Super Hornet and Rafale at 1m², F-35A at 0.0015m², and F-22 0.0002m².

Love the video as always, just was wondering if you could do a dogfight with the f18 with its new AOA flight model I heard was done with the last update.
Hi GS, I love the content, it would be great if you can set up a platlist that included all the videos which have mission available for downloading. Thank you
Limited range is why I'm not a fan of the F16. As an Australian we always needed combat aircraft with long range, i thought our military learned that lesson during WW2 when we got the spitfire and found out it's very poor range made it pretty much useless in an area as vast as the south pacific. But we now have the F35 lighting and by all accounts our military are less then impressed with this aircraft and not just it's lack of range but for many other reasons as well.
By no accounts is any military "less than impressed" by the F-35. It is by far the best strike fighter available, bar none. If you go look up comparable fighter combat ranges it is not lacking either. An F-35 with drop tanks is way longer ranged than a 4th gen with drop tanks, while still stealthier, with a better sensor and ECM package, and with a lower fly away cost. Now, is it a 6th gen USAF NGAD midsize bomber behemoth with intercontinental legs, no, but neither is anything else, and the Pacific region is exactly why that aircraft is in development, so it's not like anyone has forgotten any lessons. Bottom line, other than the F-35 being a country's first stealth aircraft and them needing to adjust to the higher maintenance requirements, and the F-35 being so popular that there's a very very long wait list to receive enough units to replace the far inferior 4th generation fighters they currently fly, no nation's military has had anything less than glowing to say about its capabilities. A nation's politicians, native military industry, or click baiting news media, well, they all have their own vested interests that don't align with the truth so much as their own bottom line.
@@msytdc1577 Australia has cancelled its order for anymore F35's the airforce is less then impressed with this highly over rated, over cost and waaay under performing jet. No range, small pay load, cannot dog fight, it's stealth is not as stealthy as some would like you to believe and spends far more time on ground then in the air. At best it is a poor choice for a strike fighter and for that role the F15EX would be a far better choice, which by all accounts here in Australia we are starting to look at. The F111 was an absolute fantastic aircraft that we had before the F35 it ticked all the boxes for a strike aircraft. But in the end that jet became a maintenance nightmare as parts to keep the jets flying were becoming increasingly rare, as one airforce mechanic told me it had come down to choosing which replacement parts were less worn. It would seem that certain people in government down here had a vested interest fiancially in getting the F35 here in this country when even an absolute dunce would have seen just by its lack of range and pay load it was not a good choice what so ever for the RAAF.
Why do missiles run themselves into the ground trying to chase you? I know they head into the direction where you will be based on your current heading and speed, but this seems a very easy way to defeat a missile. Why not give it an altimeter so that it can use that information to adjust its own heading to be above ground level when it intercepts?
@@mich421 Yeah but in this case (4:22), the launch was quite close and GS drove the missiles into the ground. I don't think it's a matter of them losing energy. I wal also thinking, maybe an altimeter isn't very useful because the terrain doesn't need to be level. But then if the launch aircraft has a radar with SAR capability, it could maybe scan the terrain and download that information into the missile before launch, together with the aircraft altitude. Then the missile could use inertial navigation to track where it is in that context to avoid terrain. Although maybe it takes too long to get a SAR scan of the terrain, or the radar can't be used for SAR and tracking an air target simultaneously? Btw, I realise these are SAM sites so they would not be able to create a SAR map and everything, but if I'm not mistaken, the same applies thing to air-launched missiles: their heading will be such that they intercept you based on your current speed and heading. If you're heading towards the ground for some amount of time, these missiles might therefore drive themselves into the ground as well.
The Aim-260 is still in development and nothing is know about the missile. It wasnt even revealed to public and so nobody knows how it even looks like. Even if, the way how it works and its performance will be classified so there is no way for a accurate simulation of that missile ingame.
