Damn, Sagamore Spirit is run by Kevin Planck who used to be the CEO of Under Armor before stepping down due to a long history of misogynistic behavior. Even around the Baltimore region, Sagamore rigged an economic development plan to give them a tax break in an industrial region (Port Covington) at the cost of several economically blighted regions of Baltimore who desperately needed those funds and development. Sagamore’s whiskey isn’t bad, but it’s overpriced heavily at 55-65$+ per 750ml bottle. It’s a shame to see they’ve endorsed this channel. I will no longer subscribe.
I’ve always prefers rye instead of bourbon in cocktails. I think it balances things better. Even a whiskey and coke, rye balanced the sweetness better. A vauex carre isn’t the same unless you use a rye, preferably high proof. Even sipping neat, when I get bourbons, they tend to lean rye.
Same here. The only cocktail I've made where I felt that the rye version was inferior to the bourbon was the Whiskey Sour. Don't get me wrong, my Whiskey Sour with rye wasn't bad...but with bourbon it was better.
Sagamore Spirit Rye is beautiful stuff. They turned my head to American Whisky in a serious way. Now I need to find a way to press fresh apple juice! Thanks guys.
Yep, the apple pressing part is the most challenging part in this video. Don't want to spend lots of money on a machine that I'll use once a year... or less.

Amazing recipes and video as always Leandro, correct me if I’m wrong, you did say at the beginning of the video that rye is very forgiving, so if I can’t find Sagamore, could I possibly use another brand for the specs?
So cool to see a distiller from my home state on here! Love Sagamore, always have a few bottles in my bar at home! They have some limited releases throughout the year, my favorite was a port wine finish a couple years ago, that sadly didn't last very long and I cannot find anymore. Gonna have to give the Quaker and the Apple Highball a try, they sound like good fall drinks

Loved the video, I will have to try some of these. Especially the Whisky Apple Highball if for no reason than patriotism since I am an Aussie. Just checking, you were aware that the stuff that came out of Pandora’s Box were not really something you would want to drink.
Wow kinda shocking to hear shady pines get mentioned in one of your videos. Good to finally know that’s where it originated too. Keep up the good work guys ❤
Another great video man! I gotta question for you-here lately, the cocktails I’ve been making at my house have come out rather unpleasantly bitter, with no bitter ingredients added (i.e. Margarita). Could this be due to the tins getting worn out from the dishwasher, the quality of ice, or too much citrus oil getting into the drink? The drinks are also devoid of much of the character they normally have had in the past as this is a new occurrence. Thank you!
Hmm this is hard to address as it could be any number of things. I doubt it’s the citrus unless you’re really pulverizing the pith but even then I couldn’t imagine it’d turn out the way you’re saying
@@TheEducatedBarfly no worries man I appreciate you responding! Also the tins I have are rather cheap so that’s what got me thinking that was the culprit!

I watch Greg's channel (HTD) quite a bit, the difference how the ice goes into the shaker stands out to me. It led me to think of a question while watching this episode. I wonder how much of the cocktail is actually left on the ice cubes in the shaker? Is it enough to get a flavor boost to a small glass of water?
