    Loved this video. What I do want to say, and I don't know if Richard reads these comments is... I know many people don't pray because they don't know what to say! And I was thinking, I'm going to work in a minute and it would be nice to have a prayer that was composed and read by Richard so I could just meditate on the words or maybe speak the words along with it. There could be one for work, confronting a fear, gratitude, protection etc. Ready made for our busy life styles!

    At 13:00 in the video, I really appreciate how he addresses and refutes 'Atonement theory', stating that it is a later development and that the Franciscans never believed in it.

      Right???? I always had a problem with Jesus had to be murdered to fix our sins???? Doesn’t even make sense. Richard is totally another Merton. We are so blessed to have him

    We think in 3 dimensions moving through a 4th we call time. God is outside of our realm which is difficult to understand as it is unknown to us. A spiritual realm, whatever that may be

    Most of us do not understand what I minds our brains do with the information laid upon us from birth. We do not know our self. We THINK we know but we really do not know our self, our deep self. There is so much more to us than we KNOW. What we gather owns, controls us.

    I don’t understand the statement Richard makes about the 2nd coming of Christ is you and me?.. I really like Richard’s teachings and it’s helping me cope with life. Can you explain what he means here? 🙏

    • @walkitoff117
      @walkitoff117  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      When Fr. Richard says, "the second coming of Christ is you and me," he is expressing the idea that Christ's return is not necessarily a future event where Jesus physically reappears but rather something that manifests within and through each person. He often speaks about the concept of "Christ" as the universal presence of God in all creation, and that Christ's presence can be awakened or "born again" in each of us when we live out the values of love, compassion, forgiveness, and selflessness.
      In this view, the "second coming" is not a distant, dramatic moment in history but an ongoing, internal transformation. When individuals live in alignment with the teachings of Christ, especially those that emphasize divine love and the interconnectedness of all people, they become a vessel for the presence of Christ in the world. Thus, the second coming happens when humanity collectively embodies Christ’s spirit and continues his work in the world through love and justice. Hope this helps. Shalom

      @@walkitoff117thanks that makes it more clear.. having believed the 2nd coming is a physical event for most of my Christian life this is a fairly new concept. I believe this but I can’t help thinking there will be also some sort of physical event also. I really pray there is a physical event new heaven new earth etc. thanks for responding

    'There is no Hell.' Richard Rohr. Check out the sayings of Jesus..

    • @walkitoff117
      @walkitoff117  2 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      Jesus never mentions “hell”. He did make references to Gehenna, but for His listeners, Gehenna most definitely would not have conjured any images of what many in the west consider “hell”. His teaching regarding Gehenna have been twisted by the minds of men who have no understanding of God’s grace, love, mercy, forgiveness and justice. Shalom.

      @walkitoff117  2 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      @@dickturpin435 yes, “hell” has been used in various translations to replace hades, sheol, tartarus and Gehenna. The verse you referenced has replaced the original word, hades, with the word hell. Hades is a word meaning grave. So I read that verse to say that ultimately death or the grave will not win, but rather life is the winner. The world will be saved because Jesus is the savior of the world. Shalom.

    If Christ is not Jesus' second name, , why is Jesus Christ mentioned within many of these presentations..

    • @walkitoff117
      @walkitoff117  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Christ comes from the Greek word Christos which means “anointed one” or “chosen one”. So, Jesus was the chosen one OR Jesus the Christ….. most just say Jesus Christ, but Christ isn’t His second name, it’s more like a title or designation that Jesus IS the chosen one.
      Richards larger point is that Christ has existed for all eternity, Jesus has not. Jesus is the Christ become flesh, but further, that ALL things, material, were created through Christ and therefore ALL things material possess Christ "DNA" OR that Christ is in all things....so everything is sacred....there is no sacred and non-sacred.

      King Charles III... king is not his first name, and III is not his last name. You will often hear Jesus referred to as 'Jesus the Christ' or Jesus the annointed, Jesus the king, etc. Few if any had last names in the 1st century. People were referred to by 'Joe' of this place, or 'Joe' son of... or 'Joe' king, prince, farmer etc.
