Two more great paintjobs on your Heroquest minis! 👍👍👍👍😎😎😎😎 I sense a stripped mini in my near future. After trying a black undercoat with white drybrush, it was not to my satisfaction for trying the Army Speedpaints. I used Simply Green to strip the metal mini, a dual wielding fighter with similar garb to these figures. Then primed in white like you originally used to do. It's nowhere as good as these two turned out, but I was trying out the Speedpaints for the first time. So was experimenting with the paints, and my usual problem of deciding a colour scheme (I'm terrible at that, even with Google)! So after using it as a test subject, I might try stripping the mini, and trying Agrax Earthshade which I have, or ordering some Nuln Oil to shade the white primer like these two and others you used this on. Either that, or pick another similar mini, I have many unpainted in my pile of potential! Thanks for spurring me on to finally trying the Speedpaints out, I got the Starter set WEEKS ago! Keep up the great work! 😃😃😃😃
That is great to hear. It is just a matter of getting used to the way the speedpaints flow and the way they cover. They are very forgiving as they produce such a thin coat that mistakes or colour changes can be made by simply applying another white coat over the colour you don't like. Of course stripping the miniature is always the best result but not always necessary. Regarding the initial wash feel free to use the agrax earthshade, it will work just as well, you may need a slightly heavier drybrush with the white though as agrax likes to stain the whole miniature. With regards to colours either follow a picture (as best you can) or just stick to the colours you already have and make them work. If you are just painting single models and not concerned about uniformity feel free to mix up new colours with your speedpaints on the pallet. Let me know how you get on.
