One tip I have to share is: to provide an even finish with speed paints on flat surfaces is to use a different brush technique to put the paint on. Use the side of the brush instead of the tip and apply the paint with a top to bottom motion. So you drag the puddles all the way down.

Your comment about NMM being a 2d technique on a 3D model perfectly sums up my option on why I don;t like this techique even on miniatures. It only looks good from one angle.

How do you keep the Speedpaints from getting blotchy on big smooth surfaces? I was thinking of trying to stiple with a big drybrush to see if settles properly
Actually, I do not care if they are a bit blotchy, since those are textures and I like textures. Also I layer on top anyways. Thinning down a bit with Speedpaint medium and applying in 2 thin coats help with a nicer finish. Stippling I have yet to try. Cheers! 🥂
Great video! Curious about the palette you prepped for speed paints at the beginning. Is that an army painter foam from their wet palette put over some paint thinner?

what glazing medium do you recommend for fat glazes?
I prefer Vallejo Thinner Medium and Cuttlefish Merlins Magic Medium. 😊
@@DonSuratosthanks for the reply. Sadly I cant get cuttlefish stuff in my region. But I guess vallejo will be fine. I could not wait and tried to glaze with a mix of speedpaint medium and the results were okay-ish...but I still dont get how you produce such good transitions. Gotta practice a lot more I guess. :D
Also, I heard you shouldn't use wet pallettes with Speedpaints bc the water will screw up the paint. Not true?
No. 😊 The speedpaints are fine on a wet palette. However, you will stain the foam pads with speedpaints. So, a plastic mixing dish is recommended. 😊
What kind of white primer does it use
I just use “Bosny” industrial grade primer. Most accessible here. 😊
