Pastor Doug: We're going to try line number one now. Doc, are you on the air?
Doc: Yes I am Pastor Doug.
Pastor Doug: Hi, thank you and your call tonight?
Doc: It has to do with the food laws. This time of the year, there's a lot of get-togethers and a lot of stuff laid out on the table. Tonight I even saw something I've never seen before, a double egg with a crispy piece of bacon sticking out of it. I haven't read Leviticus and there was a pork and shellfish and knowing something about biology that all these animals are scavengers and if it was toxic back then, it stands a reason to me that it's toxic now and when I try to bring this Leviticus up they say that had to do with the Jews and that Paul changed all that. I don't think Paul changed the biology of these animals, so I don't know what to say to these individuals scripture-wise.
Pastor Doug: Let me give you a couple of thoughts, Doc. First of all, the distinction between clean animals and unclean animals goes back before the Jews. You remember that when God told Noah to take the animals on the ark, everybody sings a song that they came two by two but if you read it in the Bible it says the unclean animals came by two, the clean animals came by sevens.
Doc: Yes, I've read that.
Pastor Doug: Now, was Noah Jewish? Because everybody in the world is related to Noah today, right? The whole world is repopulated by Noah and his family. God even told Noah there's a distinction-- What's that?
Doc: The three sons and the daughter-in-laws.
Pastor Doug: That's right, and so everybody is related to Noah. If God made a distinction between clean and unclean for Noah, then you will, you would think that it still applies today. There's another verse you can read in Acts Chapter 10 where when Peter has his vision and this sheet full of unclean animals comes down from heaven and God says, "Arise, kill and eat," Peter says, "Not so Lord, I've never eaten anything common or unclean."
This is three and a half years later after Christ has died, Peter still says we've never eaten anything unclean and he never does take anything from the sheet. Later God shows him the vision is because he should not call the Gentiles unclean and Peter says God has shown me not to call any man, commoner, unclean. The vision had nothing to do with food and yet Peter says, "I've never eaten anything unclean."
You can read in Isaiah chapter-- I think it's chapter 66. It says, "For with fire and with my sword, I will plea with all flesh and the slain of the Lord will be many in that day." It says, " Those that sanctify themselves and purify themselves behind a tree, eating the abomination, the mouse and the swine are going to be consumed by the Lord when He comes." Here it's saying that it's comparing eating pigs with eating rats or mice.
They're scavengers in spite of what some people say that you can just prayer over it now, in the New Testament whatever you pray over is clean that's really not a very strong argument because no parent would accept that from their child. Their child cannot eat ice cream Sunday for breakfast and say but I'm just going to pray over it. We all know that you can't mock God, you're going to sow what you reap and whatever you eat, there's consequences for what you eat.
The verses where Paul talks about praying over your food, it has nothing to do with pork, pork is never mentioned in those verses. Paul is talking about things sacrificed to idols, we don't have to worry about that. If you eat food in a Chinese restaurant, they got a Buddha statue in the restaurant doesn't mean your food is going to suddenly be spirit possessed. That's what Paul is talking about, they had those concerns back then.

God knows what is good for us that is why He told us what to eat and what not to eat.
Did he or the hebrews copy the tabus from Egyptians?
When a person get sick they go to a doctor to get checked up. If the doctor prescribed that a person a medication and some orders regarding nutrition diet to follow it is so quick for that person to obey and do what ever it takes to get well. Whatever the doctor said especially if it will help them to live longer they do it without debate or arguments. The person is willing to spend money to the gym for exercise or to buy pricey medicines or find specialist just to live longer. Why if its the bible (God's word) says something about health, people started attacking the religion or who shares it? Remember, read your bible and it will give you the effective advice on how to live healthy, live longer and live happilly without paying high price. If you can follow nutritionist, doctors, dietician etc.... Why can't you follow God word in the bible about health and nutritions? Why you need to argue?

Robt Clayton yeah my friends. Christians are free to eat whatever they want. to pick between poop 💩 and a banana. It’s ok, God sanctifies.
Robt Clayton and is it the law of Moses when Cain and Abel knew the Ten Commandments? Is it the law of Moses when Noah knew the distinctions between clean and unclean animals?
What I’m trying to say is this. There’s different types of laws. Ultimately, the ceremonial law that dealt with forgiveness of sins (the killing of the sheep 🐑 etc, are done away with. Those were a shadow of the Greater offering of our sins.
You see there’s
The moral Law (ten commandments). Having a day with God on Shabbat is equally as important as any other commandment. Who are we to pick and choose which day? Do we just celebrate our birthday when it’s not the day. No! God set aside the day (seventh) to serve as commemoration of his ultimate power of Creator. It’s his signature. The seventh day. Because on the sixth day he concluded all his work.
The forth commandment; it’s in order 4th. Look at that! Even before “Thou shall not kill”. “Thou shall honor thy father and mother”. It’s the forth in order. Must be important!
God loves us and all he wants is our good. What evil, what negative effect will there be in keeping the forth commandment? Non! Worldly wise, yes. Loosing a job, loosing money. Not being able to take car to mechanic to the shop etc. But our Lord is good and He will help us.
The ceremonial Law.
The ceremonial law regulated the rituals of the sanctuary and described the different offerings and individual responsibilities of the citizens on this matter. Holidays are listed and how to observe them is defined.
The sanctuary ritual could only be fulfilled while there was a sanctuary. Many of the ceremonial precepts could no longer be observed after the destruction of the temple. In addition, after the coming of the Messiah, many of the types had met their antitypes and were no longer valid.
civil law: this law explained the duty of a citizen before the government and other citizens;
Law of judgments.
They list the penalties for infractions.
Health laws.
Laws relating to clean and unclean meats, personal hygiene, alcohol, stimulants. Also through the Old Testament and modern discoveries, balance is encouraged in all Nutrition, exercise, spirituality, sunlight, temperance, fresh air, rest.

We should question the foods that did not exist back then that we are eating now also. God surely cares about what goes into our body.
I just was about to find the study Guide online.. It was a blessing. Happy Sabbath.
Today, Christians continue to discuss what laws should be followed. Some Christians see Paul's two letters as proof that Christians no longer need to obey the Ten Commandments. These Christians say that the Sabbath no longer needs to be sanctified. But these people misunderstand what Paul wrote. Paul taught that we are saved only by faith. Obeying the law does not save us. But to say that the law does not save us is not the same as teaching that the Ten Commandments must be expelled. There was never doubt in Paul's mind that Christians must obey the Ten Commandments. Christians who think that Paul was ending the Ten Commandments are completely wrong.
Paul Paul and Paul you are right Paul is the originator of Christianity that is why is so highly taught but Jesus Nah. Paul distorted Jesus' teachings added his Mithraism ideas of atonement and salvation since Tarsus his city was the capital of Persian Mitrharism since his childhood and here you have Christianity. Christians who think Christianity is about Jesus are completely wrong. Besides that, the 10 commandments are covenant made with Israel and Yahweh, not Jesus.

When to stop eating unclean animals?
When you already had terminal diseases related to eating unhealthy foods.
When to stop smoking?
When you already got all the cancers of the world.
When to stop drinking alcohol?
When your liver already shut down.
And many more forms of defilement of the body.
Just think when to stop????
Better not to start.
I know to some that they thought this does not concern their eternal salvation..and belittling this notion..
but this is reality and we have a real life.
God will not judge us for what we believe..but He will judge us on what we do to what we believe..even if we do have a lot of differences.

Jesus said in Matt 11" you will not be defiled by what goes in the mouth but what comes out of the mouth you will be defiled" but we are to eat the clean animals etc and fruit and vegetables as it says in the old testament and be careful not make our diets an idle
Jesus explained that defilement comes not from without, but from within. Purity and impurity pertain to the soul. It is the evil deed, the evil word, the evil thought, the transgression of the law of God, not the neglect of external, man-made ceremonies, that defiles a man.
The substitution of the precepts of men for the commandments of God has not ceased. Even among Christians are found institutions and usages that have no better foundation than the traditions of the fathers. Such institutions, resting upon mere human authority, have supplanted those of divine appointment. Men cling to their traditions, and revere their customs, and cherish hatred against those who seek to show them their error. (Gen 1:29-30); after the flood, God allowed Noah to eat all animals, but told him not to consume their blood

Acts 10
13 And there came a voice to him, Rise, Peter; kill, and eat.
14 But Peter said, Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten any thing that is common or unclean.
15 And the voice spake unto him again the second time, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common.
You do realize that one can't take verses out of context i hope. The chapter doesn't begin in verse 13 and certainly doesn't end in verse 15.
PLEASE CONSIDER then read for yourself in your own bible:
And he said unto them, Ye know how that it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew to keep company, or come unto one of another nation; but God hath shewed me that I should not call any man common or unclean.

The chapter begins in verse 1 presenting us with a man named Cornelius, a man who feared Yahweh(God).
He recieves a vision and obeys the instructions.(v.3-5)
Sends 3 of his men to meet with Peter/Simon (v.7)
Peter has the vision of the unclean animals 3 times. 3 times he replies he had never eaten anything unclean. (V.11 - 16).
In these verses we see v15 that clearly is misinterpreted if you use OUT OF CONTEXT!.
V.15 states
"And the voice spake unto him again the second time, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common. "
KEEP READING PLEASE...
V. 17 states Peter was doubful of the vision and did not know what it meant while the men Cornelius sent arrive. Ring a bell? Peter saw the vision 3 times and 3 men arrived that were not Jews but gentiles...
Peter recieved gentiles then the following day he goes with them to meet with Cornelius. (V. 18 -26)
And he said unto them, Ye know how that it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew to keep company, or come unto one of another nation; but GOD HATH SHEWED ME THAT I SHOULD NOT CALL ANY MAN COMMON OR UNCLEAN .

"but GOD HATH SHEWED ME THAT I SHOULD NOT CALL ANY MAN COMMON OR UNCLEAN .
It is clear that Peter's vision had nothing to do with food but rather the 3 gentile men that were sent by Cornelius to get Peter.
The scriptures are not to be taken out of context, we have to be very careful and not take a few verses and twist them to our own understanding for this can bring harm and destruction to ones life
and others.

you are completely missing the main idea in this chapter. If the ALMIGHTY didn't give Peter that vision he would NEVER have gone to give Cornelius the message of the good news he was supposed to deliver. You see as I mentioned on my comment this has all to do about context! As I like to mention CONTEXT CONTEXT CONTEXT...
This xhapter begins on verse 1. You can not remove the entire story and just make the whole chapter about "common".
Had Peter not understood the vision he would not have taken the good news to the gentiles as he until that point had not done. But afterwards he did.
Again, I do agree on the common view you have son this but not the fact that you say this vision NEVER happened. You are taking away from the book and that is something to be very careful about as it is written not to take away. Be careful on what you teach my brother in Messiah for as the servant who knows will recieve many more beatings. Shalom!

Robt Clayton as you see, Jesus healed the sick. He cared for their health; Do you care for yours, or others health?
God loves you man. Food isn’t salvation, but sure He does emphasize in the Bible that He cares and loves us, and that includes our health. Deep down I hope you’re not getting the wrong idea, that we’re all about this (health message); this is just one topic. Look at all the videos of this channel.

And a side note is why did he bring seven pairs of the clean animals onto the ark. Food supplies for the journey they were about to embark on. Had to eat something it took a year for the ground to be able to support the weight of air breathing animals.

Food gets sanctified through prayer and Word of God. If still there is distinction of clean and unclean, then following passage makes no sense! 1 Timothy4:4 - For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving: 5For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.
Also, Isaiah 66 reference has nothing to do with saved born-again christians, as that is for unsaved gentiles, who know nothing about Word of God, so how can what they eat be sanctified?

@the ultimate redemption, with all due respect I would like to disagree with you, please get the concept of the verses just before the 4th verse of 1st Tim:4, it's talking about meats which God has sanctified with Thanksgiving in which those who stray away from the Gospel in the latter days will cause believers to regard them as unsatisfied and forbid them from eating the clean meat,, which is not the case,, God loves you so much, and I Pray that you will see the light in this,, May God bless you in Jesus' name🙂

@@shegadayos2813 Dear, just because prayer and God's word sanctifies food, doesn't mean we HAVE to eat all! I think this is mainly for evangelist who may have to eat something detesting when on evangelism, without thinking about defiling themselves. For us who has freedom (thank God), we can choose what to eat and of course pray and thank God before eating/drinking. As God says to eat whatever set (helpful for evangelists) - Luke 10.8, 1 Cor 10.27. And for such when God has cleansed food, no bother about health, as Lord Jesus takes care of same.

@@barbrahkennedy Dear Barbrah, please note that the entire verses pasted below 1 Tim4.1-5, talk about people forbidding meat which God has sanctified. Please note that there is nothing to sanctify about goat, sheep, chicken, fish- which are clean meats. But we need God's sanctification only for that which is NOT sanctified automatically? Right? Do you need permission from authorities to do as per law, or to do against/outside law? Obviously latter! So here it is very clear that people in latter days tell other people to abstain from meat (which are specifically sanctified- unclean meat, BUT sanctified through special prayer/thanksgiving). also, very next verse says that EVERY CREATURE of GOD is good, if received through Thanksgiving!
So, now can we doubt God's word, and say "every" doesn't mean "every", it ONLY refers to "clean" animals? God forbid!

3. Go your ways: behold, I send you forth as lambs among wolves.
4. Carry neither purse, nor scrip, nor shoes: and salute no man by the way.
5. And into whatsoever house ye enter, first say, Peace be to this house.
6. And if the son of peace be there, your peace shall rest upon it: if not, it shall turn to you again.
7. And in the same house remain, eating and drinking such things as they give: for the labourer is worthy of his hire. Go not from house to house.
8. And into whatsoever city ye enter, and they receive you, eat such things as are set before you:
The context my friend is very far from what you are talking about..
You think, where did Jesus sends out the seventy two during this time?
Isaiah 66 is not talking about the end times. Read it all the way through. Mark 7, written to the gentiles, makes it clear by adding "Thus declaring all foods clean". Remember if you uphold some of the law, you are required to uphold ALL of it perfectly

The exception was when God told Noah and his family that every creeping thing was for food. However, before that God declared that man's life span would be no longer than 120 years.
Having said that God used living creatures including unclean animals, insects, and sea creatures as food for mankind to shorten man's lifespan from about 800 years down to less than 120 years in just 3 generations.
Apparently the people living back then didn't even notice what happened.
Then when Moses appeared on the scene God instructed the children of Abraham about the health principles found in Leviticus.
God then taught people how to live longer and healthier.
Meanwhile stubborn as mankind is the human population thinks we were 'designed' by evolution to eat animals. But the truth is mankind was designed not by evolution, but by God to eat a plant diet of fruits, nuts, grains, and some vegetable fruits. Other vegetation was included after mankind chose to live separate from God.
Noah wasn't Jewish, and God allowed Noah to eat all the animals, so his family ate all including unclean animals.
So if we are all Noah’s children. How did black people come about
The question is how did white peoples come about? Adam was made from dirt.. what color is dirt?
The problem is the food laws for the flesh, and the laws of the spirit check it out in the bible, they are two different laws, you do remember the 10 commandment are for the spirit of man RIGHT? just trying to share the truth hope and pray it is a help to those seeking the truth...
@@EricSaavy Have you not read with understanding the words of Jesus to the scribes and the pharisees, in Matthew 15:1--20 read again verse 15:3 and remind your self whom sits in the seat of Moses, and why teach the tradition of the elders to transgress the commandment of God, and to try to make void the word of God and his commandment by your traditions then he called them ye=you hypocrites; for they were teaching the doctrines and commandment of men disobeying and trying to make void God's word of promise in the commandment he gave to the people of his chosen family to share with the world.

The only way to not get hoodwinked by a teacher is to read and study on your own and check the preachers teaching by looking to scripture.

All we need is the word, the Word and my fellowship is daily talking with other believers and helping those that arent.

@@shegadayos2813 scriptures says that were are to care for or bodies because it is thr temple of the Holy Spirit. So I would say yes to that question.

Moreover, "foods" refers to those "allowed" in Israel culture. In my culture, if I tell my wife to prepare the food and show her a bag of scorpions and a bag of grasshoppers, she readily understood that I mean the grasshoppers only and not the scorpions. Scorpions are not food to us. In our culture, we eat grasshoppers but not scorpions. In other cultures scorpions are food, in other cultures both scorpions and grasshoppers are not food.

BTW, though it is recommended that we should be vegetarians, it is ok to eat meat.

In the New Testament the Lord, Jesus says, (parapharasing) food goes into the mouth and then afterwards goes out of the body... It is what comes out of the mouth that defiles a person. And then declares all foods are clean, especially if it's offered with Thanksgiving.
