In this video, I will be showing you a step by step process on how to use watercolors to paint your portraits and characters. However, this painting tutorial can also be applied to any painting, whether it's landscapes, objects or abstract. This is beginner friendly, so I give an introduction to watercolors, which form of watercolor is best to use (pan or tubes), how to mix colours (especially for skin) and great watercolor techniques, tips and tricks that you can apply to any your artworks. It's really nice to see how such a stylized technique plays out, you have a lot of very unorthodox or "untraditional" ways of going about watercolour, and I think it's important to show that you can really expand and change the methods into different unique outcomes like that
I loved your long video. Long is what I need as a beginner using watercolor. For 10 years I’ve been painting portraits in oil on canvas. Watercolor is much more of a challenge ! I can work and rework a nose for example in oil, but not so much with watercolor. There are many surprises using watercolor as to what the paint will do all on its’ own !

Thank you so much! Ive been trying so hard to learn how to paint portraits with correct shading and a nice skin tone. The way you break it down I'm able to follow and execute. Mine still doesn't look as good as yours (I know that will take tons of practice!) but it isn't a streaky, blobby mess like my earlier attempts. This tutorial is head and shoulders above any other portrait tutorial I've seen.
