- When James May bought a new Tesla Model S, the internet had some good things, but mostly lots of bad things to say about his new vehicle choice. While on his lunch break from filming, he decided to take a look at the comments section of his Tesla reveal video to see what the audience had come up with.

As a German, one thing the Brits will always be better at than us is Humor and Banter.
There is a Reason why back in the Day when Monty Python was new, it was #1 in Comedy TV Ratings (for several years) and far ahead of any German "Comedian".
Now in the 2020s our Top TV Channels still air Monty Python, Black Adder etc. around Christmas Holidays and still have the best Ratings because of it.

@Goldy Twatus I feel like the original intent of the statement was to convey an actual point not to be a funny meme. The actual point as explained in the video being that nobody was asking for something and then one person or group of people then deliver or make said thing nobody was asking for. Then just like any game of telephone the message got repeated through so many people that the original meaning of it gets lost.

I want to see a James May electric car challenge across the US.
It would be fun to watch but, spoiler alert, already been done. I did 2 trips NC to CA in my 2016 model S. Driven it about 45k miles never ran out of juice once. After you have one for a bit you realize its not an issue.

A nice indicator noise. Yes please. My grandmother's old buick had a spectacular indicator noise. I'd love to have that same noise in all my vehicles!
Had a tesla parking next to my car a week ago, so had more than enough time to check the stories about the build quality.
Turned out none of the panels lined up, varying gaps everywhere, Chrome trim between front and rear door had a 1 cm misalignment between them, a right laugh for what they charge people.
My kids think James would be the ultimately best voice for Thomas the Tank Engine's "Mr. Conductor."
This is the first video of this channel I have found and it seems I have some fresh backlog of content to look forward to, truly wonderful

You're not allowed to dislike or criticize anything about Tesla or the fanbois will find you. My favorite thing is them claiming that the plaid isn't supposed to be driven fast so the brakes that don't slow it down well from high speeds are perfectly fine.

Without a doubt the most logical man I have ever known. If the BBC don't have a hold on the concept, I truly wish James would do more tear downs in the shed on The Reassembler. That series was therapeutic it was so relaxed, and great because for once unlike my own attempts, every iconic machine was put together again by the end.
People always rush to using hydrogen forgetting that Hydrogen cars are significantly more complex and unlike EV's and petrol cars have little to no infrastructure. Also hydrogen fuel cells are simple in theory but arent so simple when making a car.
@randomguy8196 a lot of EV batteries have components recycled. The future of EV's is in capacitors. Current estimates are 2-3 minute charges for several hundred miles of range.. Perks of an EV with the refueling/recharging speed of an ICE vehicle

Mind you maybe if we weren't obsessed with social justice "infrastructure" maybe we could have used several hundred million out of the "COVID" Trillions for hydrogen/nuclear infrastructure...guess we'll just carpet more farm land with more solar panel farms to feed those EVs.

Well I don’t agree with the tennis analogy anymore, exactly because of the petrol/diesel ban. I am not exercised in hating electric cars, I think electric bring a lot to the table. But while I personally can be quite confident in still having time to buy a new petrol car and then browsing the used car market for a decade, when Im 50, there will really be no more even remotely new petrol cars, which is quite honestly VERY diffferent from someone liking tennis...
I think James is very funny! His humor requires a little bit of intelligence to get which some people lack.

My issue with electric cars isn't the cars themselves. I don't really like one, and I'd never want to own one. However, the problem is the majority of people who do want them (including governments) do not want petrol and electric vehicles to coexist. They want to get rid of engines and petrol all together. This is not okay with me. That's the issue I have.
You want a Tesla or some other EV, that's fine. But don't force it on me.
One of my daughters served James a double espresso in a hotel in London today. The other daughter said "All caffeine, no bollocks" which I feel should be his new twitter biog.

In the 90's we argued about hydrogen as fuel. He was adamant it would never happen. And what did I know, I wasn't an engineer. So sad.

I'v always loved James because he sees cars for what they are, just a mode of transport that if they have a modicum of quality, a fairly smooth ride, engine, transmission and a few fun bits, makes them worthy of your time and money. Just a regular car for regular folks not trying to justify their existence with SPEEEED and POWAHHH! Although, for a little while under the right conditions, they can be a lot of fun.

I didn't really want the Model Y. Wife did. And she had some valid points and so we came to an agreement that she would get the Model Y and I would be getting the new Range Rover trading in my present rover. After some months the Y arrived. She went nuts. I wasn't crazy about it at all. Looks sort of weird. No buttons or gauges etc. Two months later and I had ordered the Model S. Have had the S for several months now and see no gas vehicles in my future. I still have the Range Rover which I love. However at almost $100.00 per fill up and only $ 4.57 to charge up each of the teslas at home. I don't see the point in driving the rover. $5.00 per gallon here. The rover is for off road and trailering and the Teslas have become the daily driver.

@randomguy8196 The batteries are valuable so there is commercial incentive to reuse or recycle them. The EU have regulations on minimum recycling efficiency on batteries. Other countries are less stringent on this. But, battery recycling technology isn't difficult to deploy. India has them. Some of the best companies can reach over 90% efficiency.
My Father-in-Law has a 1965 Mini Moke and that indicator stalk with the flashing green light it has is still fascinating.
Would love to see a video of the trio talking about programs and films they've wanted to make but couldn't!
