You know come to think about it I’m very glad that I do Jeet Kune Do. While I’ve grown to be more of a fan of mma and combat sports like boxing being that I grew up in traditional arts, I learned that traditional martial arts and mma are both very important and JKD really gives you the best of both worlds. Must say though for movie purposes traditional arts has another edge being that they go one step further with the effects, creatures and even weapons.

Something about traditional martial arts that has something going for it especially the philosophies gained from it. I’m a firm believer that Cobra Kai’s philosophies mean well but it’s a whole another thing when you can find the deeper meanings behind every lessons of the way of the fist and put them into action. To me, Miyagi-Do and Cobra Kai are really like a sword and a shield basically a Katana which was a samurai sword that acted as both. Btw have you read Ralph Macchio’s new book? I read it and it was awesome. Even went a little out of my way to borrow it since I went on vacation and being that I was outta town I wasn’t gonna get it transited to my home library in time.

I have not read his book, but if you say it’s worth it, I should check it out! But I’m with you man, there is something about traditional martial arts. You know I’m a massive boxing guy and I love MMA but those are different. Those are more sport than art. You get a whole other flavor out of studying traditional martial arts.
