After lots of soul searching I realized that I am always angry because I am not happy with my current life due to identity struggle. As years passed by I actually never did any research on these Illyrians, all I knew was how somehow we were related to them. The only story I have about Albania (I haven’t visited yet) is this: I was with a tour group and we crossed into Croatia from Montenegro. Another tour bus was stopped and everyone was off of the bus and border officials were pulling off the luggage, crawling under the bus, had dogs searching all over. We asked the tour guide if this was typical (since we only had a border officer come aboard, check us against our passports, and leave). He stated ‘only for Albanians, sadly some criminals gave them the reputation for smuggling and now they all pay the price.’

I have been to Albania 16 times, 11 in the south and 5 in the north [and up and down on the coast]. Beautiful country, friendly and welcoming people. Throughout the years, Albania's Governments have drastically improved it's infrastructure massively. If You are planning on visiting Albania - I recommend staying at people that rent-out apartments rather than hotels, it will save You money and usually - You will be further away from the mosquitoes. The only story I have about Albania (I haven’t visited yet) is this: I was with a tour group and we crossed into Croatia from Montenegro. Another tour bus was stopped and everyone was off of the bus and border officials were pulling off the luggage, crawling under the bus, had dogs searching all over. We asked the tour guide if this was typical (since we only had a border officer come aboard, check us against our passports, and leave). He stated ‘only for Albanians, sadly some criminals gave them the reputation for smuggling and now they all pay the price.’
This is true. Albanian migrants, especially in the UK are (or were) discriminated as "criminals", "drug dealers" etc. But the fact is that over 90% of Albanian migrants in the UK went there only for a better life.

I have been to Albania 16 times, 11 in the south and 5 in the north [and up and down on the coast]. Beautiful country, friendly and welcoming people. Throughout the years, Albania's Governments have drastically improved it's infrastructure massively. If You are planning on visiting Albania - I recommend staying at people that rent-out apartments rather than hotels, it will save You money and usually - You will be further away from the mosquitoes. Much love from Macedonia.
P.S: I have seen many of the larger Bunkers converted to houses.
