Yes, it has been the most shocking thing ever now that my eyes are open. We desire now to be led by Godly leaders as the HolySpirit leads. We just want to walk in love now and stay away from works without love.

Yes, turned out to be a cult.. caused massive ruin in my family. The cult eventually shut down, then my mother married him. He thankfully died a year and half ago.. special place for deceivers like that. Nothing but destruction. Sad thing is, I think he started off really wanting to follow Jesus.

I really needed this confirmation. ❤. I left my church after calling out doctrine and behavior that was leading people astray. I was called a Pharisee so I parted ways with the church. I have been fighting myself with my decision and have wanted to go back to the church and apologize, but I don’t want to be a hypocrite. So I’m on my own now. I recently found a new church that is Bible based and I am realizing this video confirms that I’m in the right place.

33:30 - Self-appointment for Ministry happened in the OT, and in the NT. One common aspect that denotes the both is that individuals choose man's will over God's will. OT self-appointment was based on earthly heritage, and other attributes, whilst in Jesus time, it was a based around political groups in Jerusalem (pharisees & sanhedrin). Today, we can see self appointment occurring at our churches and by church organisations. Appointment for ministry should be spiritually guided by the Holy Spirit and not done hastily.
    1 Timothy 5,22 (AMP)
Do not hurry to lay hands on anyone [ordaining and approving someone for ministry or an office in the church, or in reinstating expelled offenders], and thereby share in the sins of others; keep yourself free from sin.

Thank you for sharing not only the what but the how. As a believer I am sad that other believers see the need to attack and label ministers and ministries. Information is not always redemptive. But prayer from a humble place is always redemptive. There is no such gifting as a self appointed church critic.

There is a difference between thoughts and intents of the heart (Heb. 4:12). We can have the correct intension but our thoughts betray us because it is contrary to the word of God (Gal. 5:17). Many preachers, prophets, teachers, laymen start off with the right intension but soon are led astray by their own lust of power, greed, fame, recognition and pride (which Satan exploits). They may never of had pure motives, difficult to say, their fruit will bear witness however it may take time to recognize the fruit as being good or bad.
One of my favorite books by John Bevere is "Thus Saith The Lord". It doesn't get as much accolades as his other books, probably because of the subject matter, but nonetheless a great book. I really appreciate John Bevere's ministry I have learned so much from him.

This one made me cry. When God called me to ministry, it was so hard because I'm a traditional Christian and I'm not comfortable with women in ministry. It's also so very frighting. I'm so afraid of messing up or doing something wrong. I don't want to fail the Lord. However, it's become very obvious why I'm a woman called to do what he needs me to do. I need to be a mother in ministry.

Within the weekly assembly and congregational meetings, only men who have one wife and who rule their households well are authorized to rule in God's churches as leaders.
Women can prophecy at the gate of weekly assembly, speak and prophecy in meetings in the home, and evangelize. Older women are also commanded to teach younger women.
      Godly headship.
      (1 Corinthians 11, v. 3)

Dear LilRavenWolf, you will hear mostly from conservative protestants and Catholics that women aren't allowed to run a ministry etc. They butcher the interpretation of many verses and call every woman who opposes their views feminists. Funny enough many men of God got also a revelation that women can lead ministries. Do they call them feminists too? I usually laugh when men think God is impressed with 'gender' to do His work on earth😊. As if your sex makes you more spirit led than others.
I studied this topic and still do a lot and would recommend you two books: Bob Edwards Apostle's Warning and Jay Eldon Epp 'Junia the first woman apostle'. Bob Edwards also has a workshop course on his website 'awakedeborah' with a book, going much deeper on the verses dealing with man vs woman and 'head of' and authority and women teaching men. Also Marg Mowczko, specialised in early Jewish and Christian studies, has a great blog on these matters. She is born again and led by the Holy Spirit. Also her comment thread is interesting to read as one can find pearls in there by other spirit filled christians as well.
I can write a lot about it but go study yourself and be encouraged.

That has been the message that I received with respect to criticism of the scary movies that have been coming out with Christian themes. It's like yes we have faith and we have recovering of God if we're strong in our walk, however why jump into a burning building if you don't have to? Thank you for giving me confirmation that I'm hearing God, and that as a new Christian I'm going about it the right way. I am so glad to have found this podcast. Hi John, thank you for your willingness to approach this topic, I pray that the Lord will continue to use you and your family, but I also pray for His protection over you all. A few days ago the Holy Spirit led me to feel a glimpse of His heartbreak because of how many Christians live Christianity without God. Just like in the garden of Eden, God will have us always be put in front of a choice the tree of Life (relationship with Him) or the tree of Knowledge(worldly centered wisdom, self help). Sadly many Christians are being deceived and are regularly feeding themselves from the Tree of Self Help and call it God's will, in this way pursuing what they think is a good thing and serves God, instead of seeking God for guidance. Please prayerfully consider and ask God if this might be something that you can discuss at some point

I used to hate it when God spoke to me like that because I wanted him to be my simp daddy but I am so grateful now. The most recent incident is a few weeks ago I met this guy that moved into one of the rooms he's literally my next door neighbour at this flat. I was crushing HARD and his personality was just drawing me in and I was like he is everything I dream of 🙂‍↕️ Lies 🙄🤦🏾‍♂️ Then one day I heard him having the same chatty loud convos with another girl and I was HURT 😂 I cried for days 😂 And I was mad at God 😅 Don't ask me why 🤦🏾‍♂️
By the way before I came here I was hearing I will find my husband here so I thought it gotta be him, and so in my mind he was already stepping out from our marriage 😂😂😂
Anyway after a few days of just being a whole mess and I was starting to get my life together I had a dream I was in a bus, I demanded the driver to stop so I could get off and he told me no but your stop is ahead we're not there yet, next thing I was walking in this dusty road with HUGE pot holes filled with muddy water so much you can't see the depth of it but in my dream head I knew if I stepped in I'd drown cause they so deep, I was holding on to a rope as I try to navigate the potholes and I woke up. I just knew what God was saying and I was like when will I ever learn to just trust God right off the bat 🤦🏾‍♂️
After that dream I start seeing things after things about him, how much of a drunk he is, he was actually having a fling with this girl (she has a bf we see him all the time), then I saw him walking out his "real" gf and him and this girl that lives here don't talk anymore or sneak into each other's rooms anymore etc
All I'm saying is I don't know how I ever lived without these convictions and warning from God. (I didn't live, God had to tell me Talitha koum when he came to save me because that's how dead I was. Cool salvation story for another day)
They are EVERYTHING!!! God bless ❤

False teaching also fails in its inability to produce unity (1 Timothy 6:4-5). The word battles of false teachers result in chaos and confusion. “Envy” is the inward discontent with the advantages or popularity enjoyed by others. It results in “strife,” which often manifests itself in the “abusive language” of slander and insult. The net result of false teaching is “constant friction.” False teachers constantly rub each other the wrong way. That helps spread their spiritual disease, much as sheep might rub together and infect each other. False teaching can never produce unity. Only the truth unifies.

Have you read Matthew 24, Mark 13, and Luke 21? Or are the scriptures you've read from a man with his explanation? Ask the Holy Spirit to teach you, then please read Matthew 24:29-31, this is Jesus telling us what to expect and the sequence of events. After is what Jesus tells us. Mark 13:24-27, Luke 21:25-27.

To Mr.Bevere: Respect. I've never really liked it either. I've always thought many churches are merely businesses and that working for God should be out of love. On the other hand, you need to survive also. Good for you.

Thank you John and Arden for sharing the signs to spot false teachers. This has helped clarify some of my questions.
It's interesting that you mentioned not being a 'watchdog' on false teachers, as I see many preachers and pastors doing this online. It seems to be becoming a significant focus for some.
I have a question for you John and your wife Lisa: How have you responded when you've encountered teachers of the Word on social media who have publicly stated that they believe you to be false teachers?
    Regards, Amanda

I hope that you would keep and follow through one line of consistent ideas or line of thought. It’s like you’re on a line of reasoning but then your son interrupts you (or you interrupt yourself) and then switch thoughts or switch your line of reasoning. When you are on a path stay on that path until the end. it’s like you’re on this beautiful path of reasoning and suddenly it’s abandoned. I can’t get anything from this if you just abandoning the line of reasoning you are on. If you can’t take a line of reasoning to the very end, it’s not gonna have any meaning. This is a problem that I am having not just here, but in other arenas. However, you are the first preacher that I’ve listened to and really caught my attention, but then it suddenly dropped off and there’s nothing left for me to hang onto!

That’s your red flag there! Avoid John Bevere he’s crafty and deceptive. He started out as an associate pastor at Benny Hinn Ministries and he preaches at Bethel Church occasionally alongside Bill Johnson and Kris Valloton. He’s teaching this way possibly intentionally it’s a salesmen tactic @ MrRichardkj

He does not fear God and he is not sound. He used to be part of Benny Hinn Ministries. He used to guest preach at Gateway Church and promote Robert Morris. And he’s associated with Bethel Church and Apostle Bill Johnson the New Age Pastor. John speaks at Bethel on occasion too

May God have mercy and I thank Him for the various gifts in the body of Christ. I am a lay person when it involves the gospel but I am also God's child and therefore God speaks to me. I study, pray and read my bible with all fervency and God's anointing. I pray that He keeps me from idols and deception. I also pray that He provides what I need to serve Him acceptably. I pray that He keeps me from the love of money by giving me what I am capable of stewarding. It is good to receive blessings as long as they do not come between us and God. The love of money is the root of all evil. God is good, kind and merciful. He did not come to condemn the world but to save it. It seems sufficient to collect an offering as instructed in the bible. I use the word collection instead of resorting to a "prosperity teaching." I just think prosperity appeals to the flesh and to people who want to use the gospel for financial gain. Ultimately God is our final judge and He will tell us where to go.

I was in a church with a narcissistic pastor and the only thing she preached was about sin. 90% of the time she "prophesied" about sin, and she was a false teacher, preacher, prophet and everything else. We never heard her talk about the grace or love of God. and our lives were destroyed because of the fear, manipulation, intimidation and all the rest. Now she is in Hope Chapel, Ontario, California. She leads a Spanish church.

Manipulation is witchcraft, however preaching sin is a good thing. Jesus first words in his ministry were "Repent, the Kingdom of Heaven is here!"

The sweep of Calvinism is a bane on today’s churches.
We have to test all teaching against scripture.
    God loves all.
    He died for all.
He is not willing that any should perish.

I so appreciate these pod casts. This one in particular is such an important topic. I had the privilege of reading your book "Thus Saith The Lord" about 20 years ago. It really impacted me as a young man, because the Lord was revealing the same to me. He was showing me how so many in the charismatic realm are not just false prophets, they are literally receiving the devil himself as an angel of light. The majority of the charismatic/prophetic movement is not of God. It's so saddening. But this podcast is truth, prophets are there for our "upbuilding" (1 Cor 14:3), and so many stop there in understanding the purpose of a prophet. But in the very same chapter Paul continues to expound that they are there to "convict" (1 Cor 14:24-25). If people would just know the entire word of God, they'd not be deceived. If God is unchanging, then His prophets will be the same today as they were in the OT. And the #1 thing they were commissioned to do is to rebuke and chasten for sin.
We also have false prophets who chastise those who should not be, who struggling, and yet make out the rest of the sinful body as being so holy and right with God.
Many times though, we'll also see false doctrine on the other side, believing that our holiness saves us. Holiness is a fruit, not a seed. Faith is the seed, which, over time will produce more and more fruit. To judge/condemn those who are struggling with addictions or whatever is sooooo terrible it's mind blowing as well. Jesus came to heal those who are sick.
