I know you might not see this since it's a bit of an older video, but I LOVE Animal Collective. This song is an absolute freak folk masterpiece in my opinion. In my opinion it's one of the best songs on the album and absolutely the best produced. The vocals sound amazing! This video came out around a month before I started listening to them, and since then I've heard all of their albums excluding ODDSAC (because it's not on any streaming service) and I've loved most of them, though some were a bit too experimental for me. You mentioned that you thought it would turn into a more art-rock / noise thing, and they did actually start out in that kind of scene for a couple albums, but it was less of a wall of sound and more like what tinnitus sounds like in musical form, and some of those songs actually hurt my ears. Couple years later they're making some of the best electronic pop you'll ever hear!
this made my day. Animal Collective is one of my favorites and there is a lot of crossover fans with KGALW. its interesting you said you were afraid it was going to just become noise. Animal Collective plays around a lot with repetition. they are pretty masterful about pushing repetition right up to the point of where you don't think you can tolerate it any longer and then switch it up on you. there early work i don't really care for because it is a little to noisy for me. Merriweather Post Pavilion is probably there most well known and is pretty accessible. more pop sounding but like pop that took way too much acid. i also recommend Time Skiffs. a newer album that follows in the same path as Merriweather with a more pop influence with more of a standard song structure but still psyched out. and a bit of a bonus, they have several albums to go through and like KGALW each member has there own solo projects to possibly look at. fun tidbit: Leaf House was inspired by the book House Of Leaves which is written by Mark Z. Danielewski. Danielewski's sister is the musician Poe who had a few hits in the late 90's/eary 00's. her album Haunted is also about the world of House Of Leaves.
It was actually not inspired by House of Leaves (which is a great book), I think Avey said in an interview when asked. Its about a cat that is left at home all day.
Didn’t expect to see anco on here. Legitimately one of the coolest bands in the last 20 years, and no one does pop music anything like them. Also a bunch of super wholesome dudes. Do yourself a favor and put one of their albums on start to finish. Sung tongs, feels, strawberry jam, and merriweather are all 10/10 imo. Sung tongs I very acoustic driven and sounds really nice, feels starts to get a bit more polished and I don’t think there’s acoustic guitars anymore, strawberry jam is loud high energy pop perfection and my favorite, and then merriweather was their biggest success. Merriweather won awards and stuff I believe, and was extremely well received. Definitely their most mature of the 4 I mentioned. If your REALLY want to dive into the sampling and looping, person pitch by panda bear(one of the members) is one of the best albums I’ve ever heard.
hey you should react to this song called, there are bats in your hair, it's by this band called gama bomb and they are pretty good band the type of music they do is thrrash metal and this band and there music is definety worth checking out.
Hope you check out some more animal collective. Some of my favorite tracks are In The Flowers, For Reverend Green and The Purple Bottle.
Purple bottle for the win
@@Blubberplays Absolutely. Great shout.

I absolutely adore Animal Collective ❤
Love seeing people get lost in Leaf House for the first time. Formative experience for me

if you haven't heard it yet Time Skiffs is absolutely killer.
@@neonchez Yeah I listened a few times and dug it. Most of my experience with those songs is live though. Also huge on most of aveys stuff
in my opinion this song is a tab of acid in music form. its weird, trippy, makes you laugh, yessir.

You should check out Danse Manatee
If King Gizzard's "God is Calling Me Back Home" hurts his ears, a lot of stuff on Danse would KILL him
Haha hell yeah I'm glad someone made you listen to the least metal song they ever put out
The funniest thing is, as much as I respect metal, when Animal Collective is going all out they're more complex than any metal song could ever be
I don't think the best way to listen to AnCo is by pausing it so much.
Old AnCo is great. Lately they've been a bit less good.
