Spectacular, Joel! This panel exceeds all of my expectations. I purchased it as soon as it came out. I'll probably watch this video a few more times; there is a lot to absorb. I have not run across anything out there that is remotely close to this. Just excellent - congratulations!

Thank you - happy you liked it! What was lacking in this market segment was a real B&W photographer and expert who also develops editing software to make this kind of editing more accessible, instead of software developers with some superficial knowledge of B&W photography creating editing software. That's why you won't find anything similar to this:) More videos coming up to show what this panel can do.

@@JoelTjintjelaar That certainly makes sense. Looking forward to more videos. Thanks so much!

Joel, I'm absolutely mesmerized by this video and the image you've created. Just a question to make sure I understand: you still needed to create the selection, even the "wires" of the bridge, right ? As I can imagine there's no cutting corners in that process. But the panel takes off the second part (grading, contrast, etc) to an absolute minimum, kudos !

Thanks Maurice. Actually, right now with the latest versions of the panel it isn't necessary anymore to create selections of the wires. You just use the Special FX and add the light. It's demonstrated in one of the most recent trailers. The one on B&W Artisan Pro X 2021. And I also demonstrated it in one of the webinars that's also on TH-cam.

Excellent Joel. I noticed you’re no longer using low, neutral and high key versions to create your gradients with the panel. This should prove to save a good amount of time. I can’t help but wonder which method would produce the better result.

Sean, I've stopped using 3 different versions a few years ago. I think the best way is to have 3 different raw files exposed for neutral, high and low key and then apply a neutral conversion on all of them, instead of having 1 raw file, converted in 3 different ways. But it's only useful in very high dynamic range situation, like shooting while the sun is shining brightly. But since I'm only shooting in very low contrast situations (no direct sun) it's not necessary anymore. I can do with 1 raw file and have just one conversion, always neutral.

This video is from 2019 and so is the depicted version of the panel. If you recently purchased the panel, then it has a changed layout (and also new features) as it evolved and improved over the years. There's a document on the Artisan knowledge hub page that maps the old layout to the new layout. But what you see in the panel version in this video is also available in the new panel.
