I have the Artisan Pro panel and the masking panel. Both of these are very powerful tools and when you can get your head around how to use them they are very useful. If I have one gripe with them it's that quite a few of the tutorials are difficult to follow. I am not in any way trying to undermine Joel's excellent panels and work as he clearly has spent a great deal of time developing them but it would be nice to have additional tutorials about the panels and how they work in more basic form. I actually think having you on board to do that will help with people's understanding of them and I look forward to seeing what you come out with in the future.

Hi Matthew. I will speak with Joel about this, as I will need his permission and expertise to create some more in depth tutorials on the panel.

I agree - like others have said ... it would definitely be nice to see a series of short, concise tutorials on B&W Artisan Pro and Quick Mask Pro. These need not undermine Joel's in-depth tutorials, and could serve as an introductory, lighter and more accessible content. Your videos to date have been very helpful in this context, and it can only help B&W Artisan Pro in the long run !.

@@benharveyphotography Thanks Ben. Its not a reflection of Joel at all asking for some more basic tutorials. I would see it as more like reaching out to a wider audience if the content were somewhat easier to understand. Ultimately that cannot hurt his program or sales and if anything will likely increase them.

    Ben,
I always enjoy your videos. Joel is a master and true artist. His workflow takes a real dedication and discipline to learn. I have been a part of Joels webinars this past year and have learned a lot from them. They can be overwhelming at first with the amount of information they contain. I find your videos on Joels panel to be an additional benefit because it provides another photographers viewpoint and teaching style. I would encourage you to continue to provide short videos targeted on certain functions and aspects of Joels panel. Wishing you all the best in the coming New Year

Hi John, I recognise your name from the webinars - and it is good to put a face to a name when everyone says hello at the beginning. I will speak with Joel to see if further tutorials will be of benefit as I need his agreement first and secondly I need his teachings as he knows the panels better than anyone I wouldn’t want to pass on incorrect information. Best wishes for 2021.

Ben, I remember seeing your Glasgow video and it was 'wow what is this witchcraft I see". That sparked the interest of what is now my favourite genre. I have purchased many of Joel's tutorials and had the privilege of attending several of his webinars which have been a revelation. Not purchased the LE Photography and the FA Color Workflow tutorials but based on your comments, I will add them to the list of purchases.
Think I have made some advances this year in my fine art photography but still got a long way to go but that is both the challenge and the enjoyment. Also appreciated our discussions and your advice this year and likewise cannot wait to get back to London, as I never did it justice a few months ago. Look forward to seeing more your work in 2021 and will catch up with you soon

Thanks Jim, I am glad to have been a part of your journey into this genre of photography. If everything is back to normal next year then maybe we will meet in London.
I started to scroll through Joel’s website and realised that I hadn’t seen many of his videos, and his knowledge will just save so much time and effort as he has been doing this for so long. I think he has a video tutorial on everything now, just split up into different videos. I am looking forward to getting some new images to edit in London next year!

Hi Scotty and Ben, apologies for "hacking" into this comment. I read your comment with great interest. I follow Ben and Joel for a couple of months now as I'm embarking on this BW Fine Art photography journey. And yes, I agree, what Ben and Joel are doing is close to magic and it shows a lot of experience, skills and talent. So far my images are pretty ok, based on responses from familiy and friends. But it's time to take it to another level. I finished my first steps in PS, followed an official online course for this, I'm taking an advanced course for Lr. But there is still a lot of manual processing like making and creating selections. Of course that's just a small part, there's also the gradient, dodging and burning, etc. Could you please explain what made you to decide moving forward purchasing some of the material and especially the software ? I hesitate to buy Artisan or QMP. I've seen the videos from both Ben and Joel, don't see the point in buying QMP and Artisan, it's one way or the other, I guess. And there's also Lumenzia, NIK. Could use some advice.

@@TheMojo140 Maurice, there is limited free content online, Ben being one, Jay Cohen another. Joel's products (those I have purchased) go into the process in great detail and gave me a better understanding to the principles. One aspect I sought to improve upon was the use of selections in conjunction with luminosity masking as this was a key element of processing I needed to improve upon. Artisan Pro X is a fantastic tool and Joel's webinars were extremely informative. Next Level Fine Art Photography was also another light bulb moment after I watched it. In the end you need to decide what you specific needs are. Joel's website has a good product guide overview and will assist you in determining your particular needs.

Hi Maurice - no problems joining in with the conversation. If I were to choose between the two I would definitely say the Artisan Pro Panel, as it also includes luminosity masks, and I would recommend learning some basic manual selection methods such as the Pen tool before moving onto more advanced selections. But start with images that don’t have trees and complex structures on the border between the buildings and the sky for example.

    Hi Ben,
Your video on the Glasgow trip somehow sparked my interest in this genre. For someone who has zero knowledge in Joel's software and minimal knowledge in PS select, mask, channels etc, what would be the next recommended topic to learn/explore? Appreciate if you could provide more info and links to tutorials. Thank you in advance.
    Cheers.

Hello. I would recommend watching my Glasgow video first, so that you see the creating of the actual photos, then watch my fine art editing tutorial. I would like to think that anyone can follow my tutorials whatever level you are as they are clear and explain everything (hopefully).
