if it had some dampening foam, the tape mod and new switches would sound way better. would be much quieter and less clacky, have a more subtle pop. woulda been gorgeous

I have a keychain v1 with glorious panda switches, it sounds amazing
I saw the hipyo tech vid on this and I got one cause it looked and sounded cool. But what I did was I did a few mods to it and then Replaced the switches and key caps and it now sounds super thocky. I’m going to make a video on it soon.

Depends on what you're looking for.
A super-quiet keyboard? Clicky?
Lots of thock?
Customization?
A lot of those things can be vastly improved with swapping out the switches and doing some basic/minor mods.
I'd say for the price it's a great start, though Keychrons are known to be a bit spring-ping-y.
Easy to upgrade down the road, they also have a barebones version without switches or keycaps for a bit cheaper if you're wanting to buy those elsewhere
I gotta have my number pad though. I could live without it though. But I really want to keep the full keyboard. And it could be fun to mod my first keyboard and never do it again. So I’ll go with another keyboard.

Generally speaking, blue painters tape (not masking tape) or electrical tape.
Don't do this on wireless KBs though, potential fire hazard

I still think that the rk84 is the best budget keeb. I got it for like $40 brand new and it comes with foam mod in it. it's also has 3 modes, hot swap 5 pin, and humongus battery like i already use it wirelessly for like 1.5 week since it came. yea, it has north facing led and need a work on the stabs but it's still a steal for the money

I got my first mechanical kb just yesterday
It was a gift so I don’t rlly know what it but I’ve looked and it has blue switches and changeable keycaps. It isn’t very upgradable though
Is there any way I can dampen or soften the ✨ CLACK ✨ because it can get a little bit distracting

best budget keyboard hmmm... $84 usd, plus upgrades with some good switches, and keycap set is already bringing it to the $120 ball park. BUUUUT the E-Yooso Z11 is hotswappable, you can mod it, and the keeb alone is like $20-40 max. with upgrades/mods like lubing the switches and stabilizers and getting new switches and keycaps, that brings it to around $80 most likely. just a rough estimate. But i will say, that keeb sounded amazingggggg!

Seems like I'm staying with my Rakk Ilis PBT that costs around 35$(converted from Phil. Peso). Mine is lubed and have a tape modded. Spacebar and backspace key sounded so bad tho.
Th66 very good. Knob for $90. I have gateron pro yellows pre lubed with space bar foam and pre lubed stabilisers. Give it a try please 🤠
I still think the pc75b is best budget. The shipping on keychron is insane lol. Plus that one has bt/2.4ghz dongle.

Hello I bought a Kechron K8 Pro keyboard and looking to upgrade the switches to gazzew boba gum for the slient keyboard build. It's my first built and wanted to get some input. The gazzew boba gum comes in a top housing of LED Slot and no LED slot which I have no idea what that means. It also comes with a weigth spring of 52g, 62, and 65g. I have no idea what any of these thing means, so any help or information would be appreciate . I have used a Corsair K70 RGB MK.2 SE keyboard for about 5 years which has a 1.2 mm distance of actuation and 45g of actuation force.
Why did you make it louder I’d want it quieter

I don't know if I'd call it the best budget keyboard... I guess in the US it's a pretty solid deal but everywhere else in the world it gets quite pricey. I ordered the ajazz ak816 with gateron pro yellows. Arguably better than the v1 and attainable.

Don't do it. Tape modding wireless KBs can be a major fire hazard
