      might we drag you back in? There's PLENTY of great budget boards out now and you can easily get great builds sub $200. The nice thing is, whatever board you're looking to build, like a polycarb or acrylic case or maybe aluminum with a weight...there's plenty of great budget options now. I love my kbd67lite and the entire build cost me around $200!

      I know how you feel man, I have spent over $1200 last year alone on boards, switches, deskmats, and cables its a lot to be honest but I think if you find one board a year that you like it should be a fun hobby to continue to participate in. I like this board and I think ill also get my a Nuphy75 after i sell off some of my other boards

    • @dylaanowen
      @dylaanowen 2 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      @@ultimomos5918 I guess 200 is not expensive but I would call it cheap. And part of the hobby is using and motifiying lots of boards not just 1. I have a $200 board but changing out parts or getting a second board is quite the investment.

    • @ultimomos5918
      @ultimomos5918 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@dylaanowen yea its really up to you how into it you wanna get. My first board was about $120 all together and it's what I learned on, the KBD is my first like TRUE custom. Some people do go bonkers though and drop tons of money right off the bat.
      Personally I've turned it into a little bit of a side business venture. I build and sell custom cables and also offer build services for others and use those to fund any upgrades or parts i want for my own boards. Still though, If you're ever interested in getting back into it there's a ton of really great, budget friendly options available now! Just thought I'd mention it :)

      @flyingfishwebdesign ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@luisalbertmorlasanchez3020 I type a LOT on this keyboard for work daily and have actually yet to run out of battery! My laptop uses USB-C power (same as the keyboard) and I very occasionally will plug the power cable into the keyboard to top the battery up, but only about once a week or so. Mostly though I have it wireless and I have never even seen it get low on power.
      I usually have the RGB lights on the mode where they light up after a keypress (rather than everything flashing all of the time), but I imagine with heavier RGB use it would run out faster. I came from using a keyboard with regular AA batteries and they seemed to run out constantly, so I've been super impressed with this battery and how easy it is to keep it charged with the cable even as I work.

  • @SolaireFlair

    I used to precut holes in the PE foam, but I realized that the foam is so weak you can just plunge a switch right through it and it doesn't damage the switch or PCB at all, so now I just lay a sheet in there and push switches straight through the foam. Works like a charm and saves hours of cutting out holes

    Thank you. Did this on my current Air 75 keyboard. Made the sound wonderful! I used a 1mm PE foam which fits just fine in between, did the holes using a 4mm leather puncher which came out nice. I might remove the tape though. I need a softer sounding one instead of the sound bouncing right back out. I might try adding a layer or two of PE foam at the bottom of the case.
    At first, I had a hard time removing switch casing apart. Used an angled tweezers that I saw from another video. lubed the switch housing and the springs. Took me quite a while!
    Loving the sound though. Thanks again!

    Nice mod. However, in my case, I do realize that, some of the sound problem of my keyboard can only be heard when I put my ears close to the keyboard, even though these bad sounds (like pining sounds) can be easily picked up by even my iPhone. In my normal typing position, I cannot hear any pining or bad sounds with distance and ambient noise. Prolly I can convince my mother to buy this in my college if face to face is back to normal.
      For now, I have a budget keyboard and have been practicing for 2 months now. My WPM, for now, is 72^_^

    Instead of tape, I think I will try a kilmat at the bottom to give the bottom a firmer surface (vs plastic sound) probably cut a size fit colored paper to lay at the bottom to give it a clean look.
    Definitely the lubing and PE foam contribute to the great deep sound, and the kilmat should solidify this sound further.

    • @vlee9275
      @vlee9275 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Did you try the kilmat yet? I'm curious about the results.

      @@vlee9275 unfortunately I didn't buy this keyboard. Ended up getting the akko pc75b plus in black with jelly purple switch. I figured I would enjoy typing more on traditional switch with normal travel distance compared to this shallower depth version, but this is very compact and looks nice too.

    안녕하세요! 항상 영상 잘 보고 있습니다.
    혹시 pe foam 두께랑 마스킹테이프 두께 알 수 있을까요??
    그리고 더 두꺼운걸 해도 될 여지가 있는지, 하면 좋을지도 알려주시면 감사하겠습니다!!!

      PE폼은 측정해보니 0.5mm 나왔습니다. 마스킹테이프는 그냥 다이소에서 얇은거 아무거나 산거라 두께는 잘 모르겠습니다 ㅠㅠ
      마스킹테이프는 PE폼에 비해 별로 효과가 미미해서 나중에 제거할 생각입니다.
      1mm까지는 될 것 같은데 LP스위치가 들어가면서 내부 공간이 더 좁다보니 두꺼우면 스위치 체결이 좀 어렵지 않을까 싶기도 합니다.
      직접 테스트를 해본게 아니다보니.. 확실하게 하실려면 가급적 얇은게 좋을 듯 합니다.

    This is such a cool hobby. Man there's so much fun stuff to do... Free time is so awesome... I don't get how people can be born wealthy and not all be Leonardo DaVincis. It's almost like the natural drive to create is built into poor people who have to grow up improvising and fixing everything themselves.

    루브보다 마스킹 테이프 체감이 훨씬 크네요. 소리가 단단해졋다는게 확느껴집니다.

    Instead of tape you should have used PE foam on the backside too and it would have looked better and I'm pretty sure it would remove even more case resonance.

    That is one good-looking keyboard. I went to their website, hoping to find a full-sized keyboard. Unfortunately, they dont seem to have any.
    Can you recommend a similar keyboard that is full-sized?
    I deal with numbers quite often. I prefer a dedicated number pad in the right than the number row at the top as I can type numbers without looking at my keyboard.

    Will there be a difference if a use silicone instead of PE foam?
    What about a thin silicone layer on the bottom of the case?
