Confession, I need to get it off my chest. Nobody asked to see this in their recommendations so why not add a unwanted confession into the mix. I was in 6th grade when this was on adult swim, I was obsessed with L. I literally used to walk with a hunch back like him, eat sweets, talk in a stupid voice, I even sat in a chairs the way he did with my knees up. This went on for about a year. I was convinced it wasn’t a phase. The level of full body cringe I have thinking about me walking through the halls of my middle school that I just moved to at the beginning of the year like that is almost enough to make me spontaneously combust. People are angry Near solved the case and L died but seriously, Near had crazy skilled professionals around him who followed his every order no questions asked. Not to mention, he already had a lot of information thanks to Mello and L. While L had to start from scratch and for some reason, chose to work with biased people who basically sabotaged him most of the time.
Near also had to start from scratch. Remember, Watari deleted all the investigation information right before he died. The only thing Near knew was that the real L was dead. He spent four years doing his own investigation before he makes contact with Light and the Task Force.

Actually after L’s deduction he went in to arrest miss amane after that Light came forward and requested for a confinement after 50+ days which is almost two months then freed light from his confinement and worked with light to catch the 3rd Kira which was just a pond of the real Kira after so a 2-4 months later they finally caught him then some time later L suspected that the death note had a fake rule and he wanted to test it before he did light got misa start killing again the the shinigami take action and kill L and that’s how the greatest detective dies

This part was hilarious. Light just finished an evil monologue, and there's this transition into L's eyes, and I expected a similar speech. And he just goes "....Hair."
L knew light was Kira the entire time. He just didn’t have a way to expose light. His only mistake was letting light get so close to the task force and investigation but in doing so he was able to do two things. 1. Setting up a trap to some how expose light and 2. In the even of his defeat set light up as a certain to being Kira. Which is why L told the task force to assume light is the culprit of his defeat. Ever time L gave a percentage as to his probability of light being Kira he lied about. L said so himself that he lies most of the time about details.
During the time when Light’s memories were gone, he essentially told the task force what my theory was. He told them that I either thought he was faking losing his memories or that I thought he lost his powers and memories on purpose and that it would come back to him once he was cleared, than he would kill me, accept the position as the new L and have the power of L and the police at his finger tips. And those very same things happen, and yet the task force doesn’t find it the least bit strange that everything I predicted OPENLY came true, which essentially could have put Light under scrutiny and suspicion once again..

L is smarter than light, whatever reasons you say, both was creative and a genius but L is smarter, he was always steps ahead of light from the start until he die because L was Not the main character--the story was about an extremely highschool kid with a god-complex that was triggered by a supernatural notebook . And whatever advantages we say about L, having supernatural beings beside you is still no.1 so it was light who has the best advantage. This was shown when ryuk helped light by telling him someone was following him and the specific locations of the cameras, yes light knew that someone went inside his room and probably even put cams but he will not know the 'exact' locations thus he won't know where to put the location of the potato chip where the cam won't see and so he can not kill and will massively increase the suspicion on him being kira

I find it funny there are smart people in the comment section saying if they only went throught with Ls plan then they would figure out light is Kira. I don't understand how proving the 13 day rule was fake wold aprove/disprove Light is Kira or could used as evidence to convict Light.

L takes note that that rule is conveniently placed next to another one that acts in favor of Light, and both of them are on the back of the notebook while the rest are on the front. That other rule reads: "If you make this note unusable by tearing it up or burning it, all the humans who have touched the note until then will die." They can't test that one, but if they can test the 13 Day Rule, then they can reliably assume both are incorrect. And of course, they can assume one was written to clear the prime suspect, and the other was written to guarantee the safety of his murder weapon. L wants to test all this because Light is suspicious. **Light asked to be confined**, which happened to "clear" him thanks to the 13 Day Rule. Convenient! He also began acting differently a week or so into his confinement, which L takes note as "him acting like a different person". Higuchi died while Light was holding the notebook as well, and the rules on the back happen to come to Light's defense. He was being followed by Raye when Raye and the rest of the FBI died, he was in Shinjuku when the Second Kira said they found Kira in Shinjuku, etc. Light can be reasonably pinned the instant that they confirm the rule was fake. Misa as well.

Disproving the 2 rules could have been a Major breakthrough for the case and not just return Light to the List of Likely suspect's but could be used implicate him with that said it would still would be not enough to convict him. The Problems is that L doesn't really need to convince the other detectives he ultimately he need convince the courts that's why even if they suspect Light its pointless to arrest him if they know the charges wont stick. I honestly don't know anything about Japanese Law but if anyway similar to US law which is the one I'm most familiar with it would not stand a chance as all the evidence is circumstantial in nature. The case would be High profile if defendant would get Life or possibly death penalty the courts would be reluctant to go trial unless the evidence is absolutely overwhelming proves that light had done it. The case is so high profile would make news lines around the world even if it weren't televised any Slip up or bad rulings would be heavily scrutinised. For example even if L had died and the case Trial and detectives were called as witnesses by state and recalled the exact same scene in the video the Defence would shred their testimonies when cross examined saying that L admitted he only suspects Light on bases he has no other Likely Suspects. given the nature of the death not and high bar you need to pass convict someone of murder only real way to convict him is with some sort admission of Guild or a Confession if not catching Light red handed which at this stage is possible to prove it is but certain that can kill someone using the death note. sorry for the wall text.

During the time when Light’s memories were gone, he essentially told the task force what my theory was. He told them that I either thought he was faking losing his memories or that I thought he lost his powers and memories on purpose and that it would come back to him once he was cleared, than he would kill me, accept the position as the new L and have the power of L and the police at his finger tips. And those very same things happen, and yet the task force doesn’t find it the least bit strange that everything I predicted OPENLY came true, which essentially could have put Light under scrutiny and suspicion once again..
Very true. He said it to every and L even suspected it, but it happened. When Higuichi was killed, that should have put suspicion on Light and so should have L's death.

L is smarter than light, whatever reasons you say, both was creative and a genius but L is smarter, he was always steps ahead of light from the start until he die because L was Not the main character--the story was about an extremely highschool kid with a god-complex that was triggered by a supernatural notebook . And whatever advantages we say about L, having supernatural beings beside you is still no.1 so it was light who has the best advantage. This was shown when ryuk helped light by telling him someone was following him and the specific locations of the cameras, yes light knew that someone went inside his room and probably even put cams but he will not know the 'exact' locations thus he won't know where to put the location of the potato chip where the cam won't see and so he can not kill and will massively increase the suspicion on him being kira

With all honesty, L best boy and Light Y is pretty much unlikable with his false accusations and by the end of the series he laughs in a warehouse(kinda like the 1 Inori is 1st found in).
Light was unlikeable a long time ago. He was hated after he killed the FBI agent.
I find it funny there are smart people in the comment section saying if they only went throught with Ls plan then they would figure out light is Kira. I don't understand how proving the 13 day rule was fake wold aprove/disprove Light is Kira or could used as evidence to convict Light.

L takes note that that rule is conveniently placed next to another one that acts in favor of Light, and both of them are on the back of the notebook while the rest are on the front. That other rule reads:
"If you make this note unusable by tearing it up or burning it, all the humans who have touched the note until then will die."
They can't test that one, but if they can test the 13 Day Rule, then they can reliably assume both are incorrect. And of course, they can assume one was written to clear the prime suspect, and the other was written to guarantee the safety of his murder weapon.
L wants to test all this because Light is suspicious. **Light asked to be confined**, which happened to "clear" him thanks to the 13 Day Rule. Convenient! He also began acting differently a week or so into his confinement, which L takes note as "him acting like a different person". Higuchi died while Light was holding the notebook as well, and the rules on the back happen to come to Light's defense. He was being followed by Raye when Raye and the rest of the FBI died, he was in Shinjuku when the Second Kira said they found Kira in Shinjuku, etc. Light can be reasonably pinned the instant that they confirm the rule was fake. Misa as well.
@@snowarmth I Just want to start off by saying thank you the explanation is Genially helpful and explains the Logic of L actions. Disproving the 2 rules could have been a Major breakthrough for the case and not just return Light to the List of Likely suspect's but could be used implicate him with that said it would still would be not enough to convict him. The Problems is that L doesn't really need to convince the other detectives he ultimately he need convince the courts that's why even if they suspect Light its pointless to arrest him if they know the charges wont stick. I honestly don't know anything about Japanese Law but if anyway similar to US law which is the one I'm most familiar with it would not stand a chance as all the evidence is circumstantial in nature. The case would be High profile if defendant would get Life or possibly death penalty the courts would be reluctant to go trial unless the evidence is absolutely overwhelming proves that light had done it. The case is so high profile would make news lines around the world even if it weren't televised any Slip up or bad rulings would be heavily scrutinised. For example even if L had died and the case Trial and detectives were called as witnesses by state and recalled the exact same scene in the video the Defence would shred their testimonies when cross examined saying that L admitted he only suspects Light on bases he has no other Likely Suspects. given the nature of the death not and high bar you need to pass convict someone of murder only real way to convict him is with some sort admission of Guild or a Confession if not catching Light red handed which at this stage is possible to prove it is but certain that can kill someone using the death note. sorry for the wall text.

It's clear that you put alot of thought into the series and have some interest in it and logical reasoning~ I think the best kind of logical thinker is someone who's willing to question what everyone is saying, especially when they draw a conclusion without reasoning or evidence to back it up. The group mentality is a hurtful thing that I've seen cripple intelligent discussion time and time again.
And just like you, I don't know anything about Japanese law, or any law outside of the U.S. So alot of it is beyond me lol. You said some things that never crossed my mind, "L didn't have to convince the Task Force, only those who would convict Light" and all that talk about how L's words would be scrutinized. It's always nice to hear a unique opinion, especially one that's so established.
