Great video! Really like how realistic your operations are. Very impressive and I need to start saving up for my Proto throttle. That would be perfect for my switching layout.
Thanks! The ProtoThrottle is a great investment for folks who love switching operations. I will probably sell off a couple of locomotives to buy another one at some time. As my layout grows I will need another throttle.
Excellent video and explanation of an active staging concept. I have a small layout that is one town but will refine my expansion plans of an additional run to include expanding my current staging to include a few more tracks for representing additional key city locations on the South Shore Line I model. Very simple and effective way to have much larger operations on a small layout. Thanks!! Scott
As Trainmaster, I'd just get back in my car and leave without bothering your crew. Good job. BTW, be sure to report that broken switch target to the yardmaster, will ya. It's such a pleasure to watch movements like this. Just think, not so many years ago, without DCC and sound and acceleration and deceleration and drive hold and that wonderful controller, this just couldn't happen.
Thanks! The best way to keep track clean is to run the trains as often as you can. But when the do get some oxidation I’ll use the Woodland Scenics rubber track eraser to spot clean and I use a product called ACT -6006 Track and Rail Cleaner applied to a small piece of cork roadbed. I also use the stuff to clean the wheels on the locomotives using it on a paper towel.
nice vid tim... i did notice the way you numbered some of your locos... the 151 and the 153... GP15 and a MP15 same number series but two very different loco types... what criteria did you use to come up with how your number your locos
Thank you for explaining this part of the operation. What is the correct speed for 153 & 151 as they are moving through the yard? At what speed do they couple to the cars?
The maximum speed on yard tracks is 10 mph. I try to couple to the cars around 2.5 mph but it doesn’t always work out that way. On my ProtoThrottle I have notch one programmed to 2.5 mph. Notch 2 is 5 mph, notch 3 is 8 mph and notch 4 is 10 mph.
Thank you. I watch some modelers slam into sitting cars moving them 1/2 to a full car length. I would think that the engineer has been thrown clear across the cab.
The Seaboard Central is my fictional freelanced model railroad that is based off a Class 2 regional railroad which operates in Alabama and Georgia during the summer of 2015.
Is the link between Gadsden and Ragland via the helix scheduled for this year or not till next? That will really expand operations capabilities. Plus perhaps a couple of dummy origin/destination tracks off the upper end of the helix as staging to and from Gadsden.

Thanks! Glad you got something out of it.
Great looking video! Thanks for sharing this with us, Tim.
Thanks for watching!
You have a really great yard lay/plan that is both functional and flexible. Very good video, Tim.
Thanks!
thank you for other super detail video as great watching very time
Thanks for watching!
Keep up the good weekend videos!
Thanks!

Thanks! Yes I need to call the track department about that target. 😁
Awesomeness sir!!! I very much enjoyed that! You sound under the weather, if so I hope you feel better! See ya next week! 😊 - Gary
Thanks! Yes, been battling a head cold all week.

hey tim, did NS adopt that ridged HI-VIZ attendance policy or can you mark off sick without "walking the plank"
More great action on the Seaboard Central!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it.
Excellent video as always, Tim. You have more track in Gadsden yard than I have on my whole railroad, my question is, how do you keep the track clean?

Thanks! Both the GP15 and MP15 are 1500 HP units that develop similar tractive effort and I assigned them in the 150 series.

makes sense...
that's the same system eric brooman used on the utah belt years ago
Very good ly
Thanks!

Hi. Can I ask which area of America Seaboard Central delivers to because I couldn't find it on Wikipedia. I really like the terrain table.
The Seaboard Central is my fictional freelanced model railroad that is based off a Class 2 regional railroad which operates in Alabama and Georgia during the summer of 2015.
@@SeaboardCentralThank you very much.🙂
In the yard consist which engine would the engineer operate from?
For most of the time the engineer is set up on the south unit which in this case would be the 151.
@@SeaboardCentral Thanks! Fantastic videos!
No balast yet me to till we have full control ect.? Cool yard
Yes. Thanks!

I am trying to get it finished before the annual layout tour video which I always do in November. Stay tuned!

Interesting.
