  • This is the K1C from Creality. It's new, but most of it isn't. Let's see what's what.
    Addendum: I also noted that there's a rubber strip on the door hinge to help stop air getting past the gap in the glass on the K1C.

    Would like to see more standardization of the quick change nozzles - everybody seems to want to do their own proprietary thing, with varying levels of success. Annoyingly enough, most of them are actually from E3D yet instead of licensing the Revo they still go proprietary.

    I am still waiting for the Ender 5 Plus S1, but it seems they are not doing that yet. K1 and K1C seems to be only the Camera being the difference. Maybe some slight incremental changes, aside from the extruder, which they have updated the Extruder like they have on all the other printers. The Sprite style extruder is really quite good for an economical printer, and even though the K1 is not as cheap as Ender series, they are still economical compared to many other printers of similar style. Creality have really come a long way with extruder design in the last 12 to 18 months

    As far as to why their included models look so good. I've studied the gcode for the Benchy that came with my K1 Max because at first I couldn't figure out why it was coming out so much cleaner than when I sliced it. They basically went through every line of gcode with a comb and there's a ton of adjustments that you wouldn't normally find in a standard sliced file. The hand-crafted gcode files that came with the printer are meant to showcase the printer's abilities, but it doesn't mean that you'll be getting those same results with your standard slicer profiles.

    • @LostInTech3D

    Creality obsoleting a printer model? History tells us that this is highly unlikely...for every Ender 4, OG Ender 2, CR-7, and CR-8 that got retired, they have at least four or five different versions of the Ender 3. And that's not really a joke or exaggeration, either, they still sell OG Ender 3s despite there being absolutely no reason to do so even for tinkerers as long as the Ender 3 Pro exists.

But man, they managed to convince (as in, pay off) so many youtubers to convince us that paying 5x for a printer (that does the same as any other printer does these days) is the best idea. Isn't that something?

    • @boomupengineering
      @boomupengineering 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I have to say, for my first printer, I am spoiled to have a Bambu P1S with AMS. I'm using PLA and ASA, including their lightweight versions. Printing single-wall RC plane wings or thick ASA RC boat hulls for a 30" tug. Rarely a failed print. Done some multi-colored prints - that is cool on occasion. The printer with AMS was expensive at 850 bucks, but if it stays running a while, I'm happy. Even the AMS is a great convenience and it all works good, out of the box. At least for me and my boy. Nice to have four spools loaded and ready, even to continue a print when one runs out. But yes, a cheap printer can print just as well with some filaments.

They allowed me to make parts that were otherwise unusable (knobs on medical devices for example that saw a lot of abuse and would break easily, clips that had only 2 layers whilst have extremely high mechanical loads with a large spring.

    Also, I compared a technical part printed with a X1C Vs other, much older and slower printers and I noticed the X1C visibly smoothes the sharp corners. I was using the "strength" profile with acceleration 10 000, Orca Slicer.

    • @LostInTech3D

      Yeah - bambu visibly looks way ahead of everyone else when held up to the camera, but each firmware has its own strengths. Klipper is fast, marlin is probably the most accurate if you don't push it. Would make an interesting video. The K1C and other K1s probably could do with some tuning and a slower profile for engineering type printing. I might look into that.
