      It’s way more difficult to drive the cup car on iRacing compared to the real one in terms of pure surviving. But going fast in real life is a whole different topic… going fast in a cup car is always on the limit.

    ironic my father said the same thing… pro am driver for the 991 cup car…
    he got on and said the same;
    the front end is non existent
    the rear doesn’t feel connected to the rest of the car once you do get a slight feel
    and i shit you not said it felt like driving on a cloud
    I honestly feel exactly the same however I’ve never driven the cup car
    I have driven spec Miata’s and I can say the Miata’s feels really good for the most part, but again the rear end feels like it’s completely detached, it is actually fairly easy to catch quite the drastic slide in a Miata, however in iracing I lose the rear end and spin into like 10 donuts the second I start driving with some confidence like I do irl…
    It’s a shame bc the tracks, ffb and even most of the chassis feels really good, it’s just the rear end and the slip angle of the tires really just takes the fun out for me….
    I’m someone who would intentionally overdrive the car and be like .25 second slower a lap just bc it’s fun,,, but in iracing if I do that I end up in a Barrier and a broken wrist lol…

    I have driven this a bunch and it was a huge difference from the current state of iRacings offerings. It was responsive and fun to drive. You could really push the car and feel when you were overdoing it. It was easy to comprehend what was going on when you'd overdo something too.

    • @danielmorad
      @danielmorad  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +14

      It’s just so much fun to drive. You can be really aggressive, but if you go over the limit, the consequences are drastic. It’s just like real life where you can be aggressive with the car but the moment you push it over the limit, it bites.

    While the pcup in iracing might not feel like the real thing as you say, I have had an absolute blast with it. The car has taught me so much about proper throttle control, weight transfer(getting the weight over the front axle to get that grip needed) and how a car rotates under throttle. It has reinforced the concept of steering with the pedals. And the racing is hard and close. Very fun and super rewarding.

      @@MashMashine123 You just don't know how to 'cook it', mate.
      Lower the wing to ~7, rise the rear end to at least 90mm. You have to feel how rake works with this car.
      Squeeze as much healthy rotation as you can, while tyre grip is in 100-90% range. Approx. 1-2 laps.
      Add more wing for a race, to keep rear away from excessive rotation and manage to finish a 30 min race safely. Here you need to fight with car's provocations to rotate it. For your success at long distance.
      All this 'play' is a pinnacle of GT3 Cup in rFactor 2.

    First of all, i'm not a IRL driver. I bought the new p cup some weeks ago for the 6hrs of Nec, and i don't know if it's just because it's harder to drive than the gt3s or other cars, i found it lovely to learn how to drive.
    The brakes are so light and the throttle so responsive. I'm really in love with that. I'm not disappointed about u not liking it, and i take your word for it. U are the IRL driver. I might be the only one to love it

    I tried this and the car feels great with 250kg added 😮 very easy to drive and super fun to play with. I don't find the 992 Cup car hard to drive in iRacing but this feels like a great alternative and if this is really how the Cup car drives irl that's amazing. Maybe my superior VRS wheel base makes the 992 Cup easy 😅.

    The rF2 992 cup is meant to be the gold standard in realism. I don't know how realistic it is, but it's definitely far more fun to drive. Though it has a thing where it turns in very well when coasting or trail braking. But it almost wants to go straight when on the throttle. Don't know if you could dial that out with setup. Or even if that's what they're like IRL.

    I love this video and appreciate it, Daniel. I don't think the point of the 992 Cup car is to mimic real life. I think it has a well deserved reputation for being one of the hardest cars to drive. If you can master that "numb" boat of a car that tries to kill you on entry and exit, and locks up when you stare too hard at the brake pedal, you can jump in almost any other car and push it to the limit much more quickly.

    I 100% agree. I tried porsche cup on spa all week and it was the most frustrating driving I ever had. When you even brake past 25% the front immediately locks up. When you give just 5% too much throttle in a turn you spin out of control with no way of salvaging it.

I watch real GT3 races and the cars often have contacts, even strong ones, and they don't break. In iracing you make that contact and it tears like a piece of paper.

    Off topic, but I'm genuinely curious what you would think with the RSS GT3 cars for assetto corsa. They've had to do a workaround on braking because AC braking is so sticky, so they allow 115% braking (otherwise you can just 100% the brakes all the time and never lock up). The physics they're creating in content manager/custom shaders patch (which ironically isn't just a shader patch its the new physics system on top of AC physics) is really good too. Braking aside, I'd be curious what you think overall.
    Side bonus, RSS audio is so incredible it's the only replays where I just sit and watch for lengths at a time.

    It would be great to get some Morad spec GT3R leagues going.
    I really feel it is Iracing underlying tire model that lets this sim down. You can’t hustle a car like you can IRL at all. I just got done with an endurance race in our cayman clubsport and we decided to double stint Hankooks to try to gain track position. It was a bad choice and dry painful for me in the last hour of the race…. All I was thinking is this is what all of Iracings tires feel like all the time.
    Hopefully they can sort that because that will make it unbeatable for me.

    i drove the 991.1 cup car in real life and i practiced on iracing non stop at vln nurburgring using the same cup car and it helped me tremendously in setting a lap record on old slick at dream racing and to be honest i don’t find it difficult at all because im so used to driving super formula on iracing and i find the car very grippy and it’s funny that a pro driver says that a cup car on iracing is difficult when a sim racer like me finds the car very grippy.
    so that would mean that i would do well in the real life cup car right?

    Interesting to me that you were often applying 100% brake pressure in the modified GT3R. In recent 992 Cup onboards I've seen that feature telemetry (these cars did not have ABS), they were most commonly braking around 50 to 60% pressure, like iRacing's 992 also likes. Is this difference because the 992 Cup you drove IRL had ABS? If so, you were also braking with 100% brake pressure in that car? Thanks!

    • @danielmorad

    I am so confused about the braking lol (acc main). Thought you shouldnt go to 100% brakes or rely on the ABS that much. So, should you just stay on high pressure for a moment on heavy braking zones? (sometimes it looked you stayed on 100% for a second)

    • @danielmorad
      @danielmorad  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      It’s because I set the brake pads to low friction so you can push a lot of pressure. In ACC, I have no issue with “100% pressure”, but I actually find that the duration and cadence of the brake release is incorrect.
