BB King and John Mayer en dueto en el Guitar Center's King of the Blues 2006. Certamen que se realiza en busqueda de nuevos valores del blues. Presentación completa. Disfruten
John Mayer plays the way John Mayer plays. He's not overplayin, he's not playin sloppy, he's just like a little child that dreamed his whole life of playing next to this legend. Instead of analyzing this performance and nitpicking it for mistakes that aren't even mistakes, just sit back and try to enjoy musical improvisation for once in your life. Blues is all about the blue notes. The ones you call "sloppy". The thing I hate most about negative reviews is that they never seem to come from anyone who has ever done something like this in their entire lives. Oh and btw, happy birthday to the king.
I was walking out of a vegas music store years ago, BB was walking in, we both stopped at the door, and gracious as ever he stood aside and said come on young man, I, being raised properly, also stepped back and said no sir you can go first. but he insisted, so I went ahead and said thank you sir, only when I went back in did the guitar tech say "you know who that was?... B. B. king". I hadn't even recognized him.
I got to see BB live back in 2004 and he’s was such a humble guy just a regular man. As soon as the concert started he was sitting on a metal folding chair at the edge of the stage and he said “Turn on these lights! I want to see who I’m talking to!” And I was in the third row center I could have reached out and touched him! He played his Lucille and he told lots of very funny personal stories. Most of them were about his ex wives LOL 😂 it was soooo SPECIAL getting to see him live. What a great guy he was and we MISS you BB ♥️
Listen to b.b King I wish I could start my life all over again I definitely would be playing the guitar the sex piano and the guitar if you're so much life and so much happiness to everyone
BB was so kind & there will never be another that can touch him. Once in a while, God gives us someone who touches our soul and that was BB. God bless you BB, can't wait to see you again, hell of a band in Heaven!
It's fascinating to see two very different career stages, years of life and levels of experience through their playing so clearly. Mayer is so eager, all over the place in the best way possible, full of energy. And the King has done this for so long that he doesn't even "play" anymore, he just sits back and lets the guitar do its thing. That said, two unvelievable fucking musicians. Amazing.
And its built on the respect that both of these dudes have for each other, BB is just happy that someone is left to honor what he did in the past and John is as close as he gets to star struck
I was a finalist for the king of the blues competition and was there that night! I got to watch this part sitting next to Cheech Marin in one of the box seats above stage right… great memories! I got to open up for BB again in Ann Arbor at the Michigan Theater on 6/1/14!
Congratulations that’s a serious accomplishment! I wish I could’ve been there to see this, I’m sure you’ll cherish that moment throughout your career. Best wishes for the most success, keep doing what you love and feed your soul my friend!
Its meant to b heard live too. Eating, drinking, dancing, while listening to a bluesman hit ur soul all night long. Its the only type of music I can think of that a live voice and live guitar is better than a fixed studio sound. They can tweak it in the studio to make it sound as clear and on rhythm as much as they want. It won't b better than hearing a grown man put all his pain in the mic during a live audience. Never

I knew when he had gigs with local pubs, BEFORE he was of age to drink alcohol he hit it big. Not only that, he reminded me of a young Bob Dylan, BEFORE the music industry labeled him as such. I close my eyes when JM is playing and feel like I'm at a concert. I close my eyes when B B is playing and I feel like I'm sitting in the corner with my lady in an old juke joint enjoying the blues. Both are good, B B just touches your soul!
I'm 73years years old (on July 15th of this year) and I can remember the night I saw BB King live in a small blues club in Phoenix and I was immediately hooked by one of the old school masters of old school blues
I’m a huge blues fan! It calms the soul! I never really though much of John Mayer but watching this video multiple times now I can say I have respect. The beautiful thing about the blues not one artist plays the same! Mayer played his souls out! The king gave him some lessons and Mayer seemed to just simply enjoy playing along side such a legend who gave so much to the music industry. True artists are disappearing and it’s unfortunate!
RIP BB KING. His sounds so smooth here, I think they complimented each other well here, aside from the tinty sound Mayer has on his guitar. For this style of music, The es 335-355 sounds so much richer and fuller for his songs. BB had a lot of style, and I appreciate his contributions to the music world.RIP BB!
I like everyone loves this duo and this is a soulful melody. But I just can't stop wondering, how did the drummer keep up with these 2 and their random notes. Amazing skills and kudos to the drummer
I'm a small town Alaskan guy who discovered something that spoke to me in the blues. I walked into a little club in Little Rock while it was having a blues jam and it transported me. Decades later I watched BB King perform in Anchorage. This concert with John ties those decades together and their music soothes me.
In this performance, less was more. Could definitely see the king keeping it cool, soulful, and making each note count. The student was a little more anxious and had a lot to say.
I do not agree with you. Of course, BB (R.I.P) is the king. I think That John Mayer is a very good blues player. He understands it, better than I do English. Every niet he plays, he is looking at the master. And of course he is doing his fu##ing best. Hey, you'll have to performe when the king is around.. Anyway, different styles but they have it going on!
David Choi John Mayer is a very underrated blues guitarist. He is a master of the Fender Strat and plays with more talent than most. This was a fantastic performance by both musicians. RIP BB King.

It would've been brutal to see B.B. King in concert. That soulfulness, the cool tempo, the smooth energy coming from that guitar. His soul was in that music. He was the best. RIP, sir.
B.B. King is the tastiest blues player, and even those who are very great at the blues, thank their style's existence to B.B. King. He's no doubt up there with Robert Johnson, Django, and Wes Montgomery category of most influential guitarist.
This video highlighted to me the soul and emotion BB King puts into his blues music how even masters need a lifetime of dedication to a craft to reach immortal status. Did he have passion - immeasurably so. R.I.P. BB King
Muito bom mesmo, esse cara merece ser lembrado sempre, inclusive vou pedir pra o Ruy Alves tocar um blues hj no bar em homenagem a esse grande ícone BB King.
BB KING I SEEN U IN 1997 AT THE MONTEREY BLUES FESTIVAL U ARE A MEMORY IN MY HEAD THAT BRINGS ME A SMILE EVERYTIME U POP UP THANK U BUDDY . U PROBLY GOT GOD FEELING THE SAME WAY I DID WHEN U PLAYED FOR ME
This man Mr BB King who stole my heart many years ago when I first saw him in concert. I choose to sit up high and rock back and forth in my seat then stand and gyrate with his guitar. This man was a mentor to all these young pups who stood in his shadow and sought to emulate him in his genius and down to earth connection with the BLUES!! I love you Mr King and thank you for passing on your legacy so that we may enjoy even after you are gone to that big blues jam in Heaven
say what you want about Mayer - but he respects the heck out of B.B. King. SRV is his biggest influence and he learned on the blues. And B.B. King knew that and was happy to be sitting next to him. period. he wouldn't have done it if he didn't want to.
Thing about John is, he has to do commercial music to make a living. But his make up and build is the blues. That's in his soul, and you can tell he's overwhelmed with joy to be on stage with one of his favorite legends in the King of Blues Mr. King himself. BB.
Only when musicians stop debating who is a better musician, will they be able to become better musicians. Music isn't something that's measurable. It's a story made into sound. It's emotion you can broadcast to thousands from a speaker. Music is pure, and it's easily one of the most magical things in existence.
One of these days I came across with this video in a playlist I had bookmarked years ago.And can't help repeatedly watching this. I read some comments which made me bewildered. J Mayer, when I watch the video and listen to him,-how he sings and plays guitar with the King of the blues-seems to me a Prince of the blues. Is he a pop star? Because he is a caucasian? Of course, White boy blues are well known here, ,but・・・ Brothers in Chicago!"'John Mayer for the mayor of the city! 'Cos he says Chicago-the greatest music city of your country." Is this a shitty joke?・・・ I see it must be nonsense. Sorry.I・・・I・・・I am a drunk asshole Jap. With love from Japan to J Mayer, late B.B and BROTHERS. I'm going to watch it again to listen how his guitar weeps. Thank you.
Inji Yuu I know I'm just replying to myself.Anyone! tell me, if you read this and are kind enough to teach me how to say 'Hi' to one who replied to me.I thought none of you 'GUYS' wants to talk to old&square man like me. If you know 'Jonathan', tell him about this.It will be my pleasure.
Went to see his show in Memphis.....sitting 3 feet from him and singing along, he stop and ask me little girl what you know about the blues? I enjoyed the show and the picture with him is still on my fridge! Love ❤️ him. This is awesome.
Wow! And Thàt's MUSIC! I'm 67, lost most of my left leg, but I sort of play guitar and the music didn't die on me. TH-cam's an ocean of memories as well as new musical experiences. Connected my tablet to a Marshall blue tooth speaker. Enjoy life, be safe!
I can't tell you how tired I am of this discussion. Under every single John Mayer video some idiots have to constantly compare Mayer to SRV, Clapton, Hendrix, B.B. King,... I mean - what is the point of doing that? First of all, it seems like people cannot get over the fact that Mayer is a undoubtedly great guitarist. You just can't say that he's a "bad" or average player. That's just not true! Simply judging him on his technique, speed, touch and tone this guy is a fucking great guitarist and far above the average player. I also think that blues lovers and Mayer critics can't get over the fact that he is so versatile. He came from Acoustic pop, went on to the blues and now ended up making two country records. Imagine SRV writing a pop song - I don't know if he could pull it of. And he doesn't have to but all I'm saying is that Mayer succeeded in every single genre by winning Grammy's, getting great feedback by other artists and selling millions of records. To me that is what makes him such a great musician that he is a pure pop artists, while being able to play a fucking solid and beautiful blues (Out Of My Mind), and on top playing some laid back country without using all the cheesy lyrics. People can't wrap their head around someone who can do that. Step into another genre and just cracking it. Many blues players dedicated their life to Blues music and there's nothing wrong with that. But there's this Mayer guy who dedicated his life to all sorts of music so he can't be the master of every single genre he plays. Well, he's definitely on his way to become a true legend if you ask me. Then thirdly all those people judging him and his guitar skills constantly try to argue against Mayers unassailable recognition by other artists. Clapton doesn't just say things like: 'He is a master guitar player.' for no reason. He isn't inducting SRV in the Hall Of Fame for no reason and so on. And then there's the big discussion over his private life. Oh my God. Get a life people! When I'm interested in music I don't care about who's girl this guys sleeping with. And if you're that kind of guy you at least gotta respect him for sleeping with a list of women many of us would be happy to only shake hands with. Imagine you're getting overpured with money and fame in your early twenties. How would you react? It's just plain naive and stupid to judge him on mistakes he made without us being in his position. Anyway, that's just what I've been thinking.
+Maximilien Bartel Mayer is a great musician but for blues he is in the average guitar player, no problem with this, in this video he overplay, notice how BB King keep the intrigue going , in mayer playing there is nothing except a bunch of notes, he needs to breath.
It really bugs me when people make music a contest. If there is one thing in the world that should NOT be a contest it is music. Well, artistic endeavours in general. Art is subjective and about expression. Both BB King and John Mayer are undoubtedly incredible blues musicians. Neither of them needs to be labelled as better than the other. They've both blazed their own trails and are fantastic at what they do.
OhGosh I had the privilege of seeing BB live back in 2004 and it was THE BEST concert I’ve ever attended. What a fantastic and great talent he had!!! And he was such a humble guy too.
AWESOME. Thank you for sharing. There were some awesome live performances of BB King with other artists that I enjoyed. John Mayer (Gravity) is also one of my favorites in his own right. However, most of these treasured videos of B B King, Little Milton, etc., have been removed from You Tube. Shame on whoever is responsible for this selfishness. Thank you for allowing us to enjoy this.
John Mayer plays the way John Mayer plays. He's not overplayin, he's not playin sloppy, he's just like a little child that dreamed his whole life of playing next to this legend.

Dude was also in awe the entire time, as anyone would, and I assume he didn't want to have a louder guitar, out of respect
RIP B.B...I hate that I never got to see you live.
Same..........
Rıp
I got to see BB a few years before he passed on. I’ll never forget it.
You idiots don't know who loucel is
Rachael Frankie “Lucille”
I like everyone loves this duo and this is a soulful melody.
But I just can't stop wondering, how did the drummer keep up with these 2 and their random notes. Amazing skills and kudos to the drummer
normally you follow the drummer, not the other way around
@@METTI1986LA in this setting, yes. At a rock gig, sadly the singer sets the tempo, as ridiculous as that is.
David Choi two great styles, it's just music. they were both loving it.
David Choi John Mayer is a very underrated blues guitarist. He is a master of the Fender Strat and plays with more talent than most. This was a fantastic performance by both musicians. RIP BB King.
David Choi Anxious, you say? The poor guy was playing with /the/ B.B. King, after all. :-)
I don't think we are qualified to make such a statement to judge who's better.
A little scolding from the master and the student melted instantly out of honor, respect and love :) how delightful

It would've been brutal to see B.B. King in concert. That soulfulness, the cool tempo, the smooth energy coming from that guitar. His soul was in that music. He was the best. RIP, sir.
BB King, é, foi, e sempre será o cara! Desconheço alguém que não curta, que não goste deste Ídolo. Simplesmente fantástico.
I got a sweet sweet good loving feeling with these happy Rockin Blues!
John is killing it,so talented.how awesome would that be?being up on stage with bb.freaking king
B.B. King is the tastiest blues player, and even those who are very great at the blues, thank their style's existence to B.B. King. He's no doubt up there with Robert Johnson, Django, and Wes Montgomery category of most influential guitarist.
Don't forget Howlin Wolf
Imagino a admiração que esse jovem Jhon Mayer estar tocando no mesmo palco com esse MONSTRO DO BLUE,BB KING e sua Lucille.
Beautiful harmony!! Blessings to the King, & to John Mayer!! What beautiful music for the soul!
This video highlighted to me the soul and emotion BB King puts into his blues music how even masters need a lifetime of dedication to a craft to reach immortal status.
Did he have passion - immeasurably so.
R.I.P. BB King
The late BB King!! I'm feeling soulful as I listen to this!!!! whoooo this is very nice!!!
Smooth and soulful!! Love it!!
Blues is a conversation still being had to this day, each personality expressed differently
I love this video! Great guitarists! Awesome sound, and amazing people making it! 💯
Muito bom mesmo, esse cara merece ser lembrado sempre, inclusive vou pedir pra o Ruy Alves tocar um blues hj no bar em homenagem a esse grande ícone BB King.
I love the sound of Lucille. Such a beautiful tone
Wow ... what a great musical performance ... Thanks for sharing ....
Saludos desde Argentina - Tucumán - Pasando la Cuarentena del Covid19 con estos dos Monstruos, Excelentes.
Lot of Mayer-haters here. Just appearing on stage with King speaks for itself.
Correct
WHY HE GET PLAY WITH THE BEST
Mayer is just a talented copy cat.
YEAH RIGHT????👍👍👍💯
Bb king THE 🐐 IN BLUES 💯💯💯✊✊✊✊touches my soul every time ❤️❤️🍻🍻🤘🏻🤘🏻no one will ever top him In my history books 📚
I can listen to this man playing for hours gives me chills every time 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
say what you want about Mayer - but he respects the heck out of B.B. King. SRV is his biggest influence and he learned on the blues. And B.B. King knew that and was happy to be sitting next to him. period. he wouldn't have done it if he didn't want to.
BB King and John Mayer showing us what old school blues are all about no matter whose playing them😊😅😮😂❤😂❤😊❤
Thing about John is, he has to do commercial music to make a living. But his make up and build is the blues. That's in his soul, and you can tell he's overwhelmed with joy to be on stage with one of his favorite legends in the King of Blues Mr. King himself. BB.
John playing like the technical master that he is and BB bouncing off with pure feel and soul. Took Lucille for a ride that night.
Lucille died long time ago man.

B B King is the best bluesman ever! Absolutely amazing performance! He was my best teacher online playing blues on guitar
Only when musicians stop debating who is a better musician, will they be able to become better musicians. Music isn't something that's measurable. It's a story made into sound. It's emotion you can broadcast to thousands from a speaker. Music is pure, and it's easily one of the most magical things in existence.
The King has such a relaxed way about him. But such a big sound. Smooth like velvet.
Of course, White boy blues are well known here, ,but・・・
Brothers in Chicago!"'John Mayer for the mayor of the city!
If you know 'Jonathan', tell him about this.It will be my pleasure.
i LOVE listening to this when i'm in need of some damn good blues. this never ceases to cheer me up and make me so happy!
Went to see his show in Memphis.....sitting 3 feet from him and singing along, he stop and ask me little girl what you know about the blues? I enjoyed the show and the picture with him is still on my fridge! Love ❤️ him. This is awesome.
Hello nice meeting you
Never got the chance to see BB King live, really makes me sad
bb king is so good
it actually looks like he is having a conversation with the guitar by his expression
legend
The eye of the master translates the ear of the master! Lovely session thank you
Bb king is a real king of blues
I'm so gonna buy a guitar this weekend
Did you??
Did you buy that guitar? If not, go get one right now.
Trippy Uk Haha legendary comment.
Guys we need to make sure Yellow River gets a guitar.
Yellow river coulda been shredding rn
I saw BB four times in concert. 2x’s in Phx, once in St Louis & once in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Loved him!!❤
Fantastic performance from both... I like it !
+Maximilian Bartel I agree with that my friend !!!
Of course he doesnt have to, hes dead
+Maximilien Bartel
Mayer is a great musician but for blues he is in the average guitar player, no problem with this, in this video he overplay, notice how BB King keep the intrigue going , in mayer playing there is nothing except a bunch of notes, he needs to breath.
Agreed
It really bugs me when people make music a contest. If there is one thing in the world that should NOT be a contest it is music. Well, artistic endeavours in general. Art is subjective and about expression. Both BB King and John Mayer are undoubtedly incredible blues musicians. Neither of them needs to be labelled as better than the other. They've both blazed their own trails and are fantastic at what they do.
Lo mejor del bluess ...wow...felicidades desde mexico 🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽
simplemente... maravilloso!!! Gracias! Música verdadera!👍👍🎵🎵👏👏🎸🎸✨✨💖
BB King, i always love your songs, love blues so much xo belgium
Espectacular... sublime interpretación que hace resonar aquellas notas en el centro del corazón 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏... infinitos
Thanks for this it keeps Bb king with us hooray!
Impresionante dos generaciones con Blues en la sangre
At about 9:45 it became a private lesson for advanced master class talents! Loved every bit of it!
Que musicazos,yo tuve el privilegio de ver en directo a BB King
A fabulous video of two guitar geniuses, doing what they do with great enthusiasm and precision, ntm brilliance. Who could not like the video?
Rest in peace BB King you are loved by many .God will be there to celebrate with you..gonna miss you.
