May I suggest that the miracles of Spruce Island are not talked about because being touched by Saint Herman you also come to know his humility. When asked about my love of the saint I refer them to someone else who was with me.

Why does god choose favorites? Why do I have to ask for intercession from a saint? God knows I’m suffering, so why won’t he answer or help me directly? Why does it have to be through someone else? I don’t understand the point.
God doesn't choose favorites...but the Saints simply love God more than we do and so are closer to Him. God loves us all and desires us to respond to Him...some do this more than others...
