I experienced what st. Symeon wrote about. Its hard to explain, The experience was sudden and came from no where. Its Very hard to explain but i was illuminated with a crystal clear light. Almost like seeing through a diamond. Thats the moment i realized my purpose...to walk hand and hand with the creator. HIS WILL ALWAYS BE DONE, PRECIOUS JESUS!

Please speak to your spiritual father about this experience. If you do not have one, you are at risk of suffering from a serious mental deviation. Prelest

Thank you for this interview. His Grace speaks to us lay men and women in an accessible voice. I appreciate that.

Did you do anything particular to bring on this experience, or was it purely a gift from God?

"Not to aspire to magnificence" is the death knell of our own time! Lethargy creeps in among us - but God is so merciful having given us the experience the personal coming of the Holy Spirit the Spirit of Truth. Before any Orthodox nun could say "That's not for lay persons" (which one nun did!) we were filled with joy in Him. Also, Elder Aemilianos was "present" to us in his sermons and we sensed his prayer for us even before coming officially into the Holy Orthodox Church. The writings of Saint Symeon brings such joy and hope! Your book will be our next addition to the Mission Library. His Icon greets me each morning, with a fresh invitation to explore more of his writings and to pray in the Love of the Holy Spirit as I am able. Please pray for us Blessed Reverend Archbishop Alexander in this wilderness of California!

It’s bizarre that a personal experience of God was a controversial teaching at any point in Church history. Does nobody read the Scriptures at all?

These interviews are invaluable, thank you! Vladyka used to be out this way, SF CA., but not much since he has been Archbishop.

Fr. Golitizin is a treasure of Orthodoxy today. But I do find it’s easier to listen to when I speed him up about 1.5 times on TH-cam play back speed.

I know I’m gonna get flayed alive for this but his voice reminds me of septimas from Skyrim. (The guy who lives in the ice cave)

Saint Symeon is a source of hope, even for non Christian theists. He is too little known. The best editions/translations of his writings are in French, in the 'Sources Chrétiennes' series.

@@ProtectingVeil Hi Hermann! Have you thought of writing and narrating your own introductions to these topics, or reading from your book on Greek Elders ? I know you would do a great job, and there is a dearth of good quality stuff on the internet. People are dying out there, falling into addiction, thirsting for living water. Please don't say 'I'm not worthy, etc.' You can be a conduit for the tradition. Best wishes. F
