Yeah but it's not very useful except for the final boss. I wish there was a second super boss. Or maybe you could get Iris before fighting the other optional bosses.
I like that idea lol you play with the thought that you have to explore every corner to get every summon or you'll have to load your last save. It's kinda funny to me
I remember this like it was yesterday. When the Japanse game got released earlier and made available to ROM I instantly downloaded it and added it to my R4. Lots of dialogue, points of no return, but the summons made this game so fantastic. Meteor is still my favorite summon of all time.
Meteor is awesome...I can't explain it but it just has this sense of foreboding and badass-ery, with that gleam over the Earth's horizon and that absolutely massive meteor's slow descent into the atmosphere

Golden Sun 2: The Lost Age was just for me the best game i ever played in my life. It was just the pure embodiment of the word EPIC. I think a lot of people could agree :) I wish anyone will one day be able to do such a comprehensive and overall perfect game. For our great pleasure.

to those who feel disappointed about DD, please read: i played the game, and i honestly thought it was pretty good. perhaps my happinees that there was even a third one? perhaps just the fact that it was good in it self? idk. but what i care about is that it was fun, and i enjoyed playing it to the end. didnt i feel disappointed? well here is the thing; i feel like it was still needing more at the end; i feel like i wanted to go on and on and on. but it just ended. so yes, if anything, i felt disappointed in that it ended rather quickly. maybe i also felt i didnt do much with it more like i did with the lost age when i kept playing for like 2.5 years on that one, while DD just ended in like 3 months i had everything done. so yes, ease and shortness were the key disappointers of this game, but these cannot be the factors for you guys to keep bashing DD. its enough negativeness. you have to think about the reasons why it may have had those negatives, such as the soon release of the 3ds which camelot may have been forced to just end right there and release DD, or maybe the cartige wouldnt fit anymore, or perhaps they had other projects to work on and they just made this to make us happy again. and happiness is what i felt when i got and played goldensun. it was a continuation of the first game i played and the first game that became my ultimate all time favorite the lost age. so of course i was happy, and i am still happy that DD came because its better than nothing. instead of keeping on bashing the game out, why dont you show otherwise to camelot? why dont you focus on the good of the game instead of just the bad?? everywhere i go, most comments are just negative all throughout. PlasticVegeta man i just want them to get out a game already...i am about to graduate university and no game yet since last time i was still in highschool XD i will still aim for that game any day! its my childhood favorite and it is the only one that catches my abolute interest to play a game fully if not beginning it only i have been playing for several years after darkdawn another mmorpg game called wizard101 because its comabt is turnbased and summoning and whatnot and adventures...similar to goldensun. i am very much addicted to it as i have been playing for years now lol, but at least it keeps getting new updates ever couple months and its grown a lot for millions of players now play it. anyways, it fills my time also until i hope another gg game comes out!

The only thing that also bothered me was the ending. Everything else about Dark Dawn was really really good! If Dark Dawn had a sequel, the ending wouldn't have bothered me at all.

I would love to see a character from Golden Sun representing in Nintendo's Smash Bro's game. Please everyone take a few moments and head over to the official website of Super Smash Bro's and vote for Isaac. Dark Dawn may have been a disaster with a weaker plot and soundtrack compared to the first two games in my opinion, but by getting Golden Sun more known, a 4th game can be created to redeem that failure. The first two games had music that rivaled Final Fantasy's soundtrack, plenty of interesting environments, and a good story line that left a huge impact on me. This is an underrated series that deserves more recognition as an rpg, and I hope that it obtains that.
I really think _Dark Dawn_ 's biggest problem was that it was only half of the real "game", but unlike the first time around, we never got the second half. I feel that if we _had_ gotten its _The Lost Age_, the game would've ended up stronger for it. Perhaps they thought the game wouldn't sell as well, and didn't put as much work into setting up plot points to connect the two, or something like that.

I'm kind of glad this was my first Golden Sun game...I picked up a used copy for dirt cheap on a whim, so I had no expectations going in - I enjoyed it and it got me interested in playing the first two
gamerprince1999 look, i understand that the game was disappointing to many, but seriously, no need to keep bashing on it. i was disappointed to, but i realize i was just disappointed in the fact it was shorter than what i played long enough with the lost age. and ya it was easy, but it was still fun. i played it and lets be honest:it was FUN. the only problem is it was easy and short, but perhaps that's because it didnt fit more into such a small memory cartige? perhaps the developers had other projects in mind? perhaps nintendo told them to hurry up and release it because they want to release the 3ds, and if they dont, then their work would be waste because the 3ds will become the potential of the new age and graphics? i mean idk what reasons there was, but still, the game was pretty darn good. in fact, if we cant show nintendo or camelot but just negativeness, then they will care not to even develop a finish to the series. everytime i read comments like this, it makes me mad because camelot is being rather discouraged than encouraged; instead of just saying all negative, lets be more positive and point out the negatives in a rather smoother way, so that there is hope for a 4th game.

gamerprince1999 well thats a quick reply xD. man i am just sad they arent annoucing anything! i sent nintendo an email like back in highschool senior year (3 years ago) and they said something that made me hopeful...yet nothing! every nintendo direct or games announcements coming to 3ds or the E3's i basically get hyped and just want to hear one thing: golden sun 4...but its been 4 years and no goldensun announced. however, i was thinking...what if nintendo has camelot working on the 4th game and one of their hints for another one is coming is the fact they released the gba versions onto wii and 3ds virtual consoles in eshop? perhaps thats a way to grab more people to know about the game and they would guarantee the 4th game to have good sales?

Ever since the 2nd game came out and people finished it, they've waited for years for it to come but it never did until freaking 2010... A lot of people who loved the games gave up on it because of this... Now Camelot is doing the exact same thing as before... But you have a point. They did release it on Virtual Console for Wii U so maybe people got interested in it again and it could be a hint for a 4th game! I have to agree with you. I loved Golden Sun, and Golden Sun: The lost age. My first reaction to Golden Sun was when I was still a kid, so it was hard, since my English wasn't good. I finally finished it, with all special bosses and I was sooo happy. I found GS: TLA in the stores, and I bought it. I loved how you changed to Felix, and saw the things that happened in GS, but in Felix' perspective. They were actually challenging if you weren't overleveled, which I miss in GS: Dark Dark.
These are surprisingly well-executed, visually. They don't look gaudy and crude the way some of the early 3D Final Fantasy summoning animations do. I still don't understand how anybody can tolerate actually playing a game that does this, though. It's so superficial and tedious. You're supposed to be playing, but then a movie interrupts, which is bad already... and on top of that, these little movies have no significant story content in them, so you aren't getting ANYTHING except spectacle. And even the spectacle wears out after you've seen each one once or twice. To watch these things during gameplay is to declare a small piece of your life to be valueless and discard it. Or at least, that's how it feels to me. (Apparently lots of people disagree.)

Weyard is a flat world? Wut? Next, you're going to tell me the Earth is flat too, huh? I know I know, the game depicts Weyard as a flat world, but I refuse to believe that it's flat. It's simply not possible.

In land locked places where there is no water to flow off the edge of the world, there is a sheer drop that goes down for an unknown height into nothingness" This is from the wiki, but is really obvious since the first and second games.

I think the reason why Weyard is flat, is because Alchemy has been locked away for so long. I strongly believe that Weyard used to be an actual round planet. The world withered away and the Weyard we know and love is the little that's left of it. I believe that as the Gaia Falls retreat, the world will reform and become round again. Besides, where does the water even come from if it just keeps falling down? The people of Weyard don't know enough about their world. In our own world, about 500 years ago humanity also thought the world was flat. We thought the Earth was the center of the galaxy and that everything was spinning around us. It wasn't until we truly ventured out that we realised the world is round and that we are far from the center of the galaxy. We had to go past the borders of our imagination to better understand our world. The people of Weyard have to do the same. They have the technology and the brains, now they just need the courage.

Worth noting that during Meteor's animation, we can see the curvature of Weyard... and that leads me to believe that there may, in-fact be something over Gaia Falls. If only we had the answers...

Riki Spiral Camelot said they'd make a fourth game if Dark Dawn did well and unfortunately it didn't sell that well. A petition was made for a fourth game a couple years ago and it still didn't meet it's minimum signatures despite how old the petition is. It's a tragedy. :(

THIS is my opinion on golden sun: My favorite RPG, and most fun for me to play. its most exciting due to its destruction-porn summons and abilities, everything feels awesome, and the battle system is simple and easy to learn, unlike some other RPG's which take up so much more time to figure out. plus, i just love all the awesomeness of each summon, and how they seemingly each got sortof an expansion and more atmosphere to them in this game. y'know?
that dick head (hah!) was in Golden Sun 2 as an optional boss. Pissed me off to no end because i needed to beat him to get the Iris summon if i recall correctly
in GS3 i beat him in about 4 rounds by setting all djinns on standby summon 4 times daedalus and 4 times eclipse. Average character level was 45. In GS2 i leveled to level 99 and collected some rare drops.
I feel these animation and SFX don't have the impact like the one in gs1&2 These go pew pew , fwouish fwouish In the previous one the sounds were much more aggressive and raw Bam, brakaouch, paclow.
The first four party members are the direct descendants of the original characters from the first game. The fifth party member's father is implied to be a character from the first game. The sixth and eighth party members are, as far as I know, completely original from the first two games. The seventh party member is a main NPC from the second game.

Blackdeath I felt the exact same way... I thought I was only half way through the game at the final boss but then I found out that was the last boss and I was soooo disappointed... Maybe someone else should make the Golden Sun games and not Camelot because they REALLY fucked up with Dark Dawn. The game was still great and fun to play and the music and graphics were great but it just felt like they didn't try that hard with this game. Especially if it was the last game they were gonna make for Golden Sun

gamerprince1999 "Did not try that hard"? The dungeons are WAY more complex (with some downs of course, stupid zodiac-puzzle), the difficulty is upped, the environs are gorgeous, the Dual Screen interface is brilliant, AND you can finally do premature summons (i.e. inputting a summon command despite not having enough Djinn on standby) which makes for way more strategizing. Gameplay is A+. Of course, a good RPG should have a good story/narrative, but it improved on literally all the things I found lacking about the prequels, which in turn should pave the way lay a foundation for yet another crazy good sequel. I also think they did a good job of tying together such a vast timegap. They put some huge focus on lore in Dark Dawn.
+Sir Laughsalot about the graphics, if the GoldenSun gba games' graphics potential were successfully translated and realized to the DS, you wouldn't say that :(
Sword of Dusk, found in the Teppe Ruins. It's in the American games too, it's a midgame weapon, unlikely to be in your final inventory, although it does look cool.
In both The Lost Age and Dark Dawn, Azul is acquired by defeating the Superboss monster, the Star Magician. The Star Magician is located in the depths of Treasure Isle's cave (far in the north of the Great Eastern Sea) in The Lost Age, while the Star Magician is in the Ghost Ship within a deep bank of fog beneath the Grave Eclipse at sea, Northeast from Kolima Forest and West of Harun Island. You have to enter the fog bank from just the right angle, though - visit Ayuthay for a hint...
I think think a game called Silver released way back in 1999 had the best Battle system. It was fully Real time with a Plausible * toggle Menu overlay if you wanted to ''turn-base'' it up a little. So you could cast and hack n slash with or without pausing seamlessly. It was Epic and the game that comes closest to matching it (or does match it in this case) is Zelda Breath as it's intense
Replaying the Golden Suns after so long! I remember playing them when they first came out! I'm curious how this one will turn out seeing as it follows their "next generation" to be honest though I still wished it followed Isaac and the gang! Just because their adults now doesn't mean they suddenly forgot how to fight! In-fact it might be more interesting. :o Either way love the series.
Hmm, little off topic, but I find it interesting the way things look on the 2 DS screens when the screens are shown touching each other like this video. I'm guessing the devs account for the usual space between the 2 screens and that's why images don't actually line up perfectly? If so, that's pretty cool that they think about it.
It should be noted that you aren't actually summoning Iris, but instead sending your enemies to her as a sacrifice in which she exchanges them for the heals and revives.

Summons this one did better than the original (my opinion, regarding both design and attack animation): All the Level 2 basic Summons Cybele Flora Ulysses Judgement (didn't think it would top the original) Boreas Daedalus (although I'm confused how he's moving so seemingly fast) and Charon. All the others i either think look worse than the original (like Procne or Haures) or about equal to the original (like Tiamat or Moloch). Oh, and Crystallux was pretty good, too!

i played the game, and i honestly thought it was pretty good. perhaps my happinees that there was even a third one? perhaps just the fact that it was good in it self? idk. but what i care about is that it was fun, and i enjoyed playing it to the end.

well here is the thing; i feel like it was still needing more at the end; i feel like i wanted to go on and on and on. but it just ended. so yes, if anything, i felt disappointed in that it ended rather quickly. maybe i also felt i didnt do much with it more like i did with the lost age when i kept playing for like 2.5 years on that one, while DD just ended in like 3 months i had everything done. so yes, ease and shortness were the key disappointers of this game, but these cannot be the factors for you guys to keep bashing DD. its enough negativeness. you have to think about the reasons why it may have had those negatives, such as the soon release of the 3ds which camelot may have been forced to just end right there and release DD, or maybe the cartige wouldnt fit anymore, or perhaps they had other projects to work on and they just made this to make us happy again. and happiness is what i felt when i got and played goldensun. it was a continuation of the first game i played and the first game that became my ultimate all time favorite the lost age. so of course i was happy, and i am still happy that DD came because its better than nothing.
instead of keeping on bashing the game out, why dont you show otherwise to camelot? why dont you focus on the good of the game instead of just the bad?? everywhere i go, most comments are just negative all throughout. "it was too easy!" or "what the heck camelot!" blah blah blah. enough!
the more you be this way, the less camelot is gonna care and release another one. they can keep working on mario tennis and other things that sell out more; geez; and you call youselves golden sun fans. ya right :/

i have been playing for several years after darkdawn another mmorpg game called wizard101 because its comabt is turnbased and summoning and whatnot and adventures...similar to goldensun. i am very much addicted to it as i have been playing for years now lol, but at least it keeps getting new updates ever couple months and its grown a lot for millions of players now play it. anyways, it fills my time also until i hope another gg game comes out!

The only thing that also bothered me was the ending. Everything else about Dark Dawn was really really good! If Dark Dawn had a sequel, the ending wouldn't have bothered me at all.

I would love to see a character from Golden Sun representing in Nintendo's Smash Bro's game. Please everyone take a few moments and head over to the official website of Super Smash Bro's and vote for Isaac. Dark Dawn may have been a disaster with a weaker plot and soundtrack compared to the first two games in my opinion, but by getting Golden Sun more known, a 4th game can be created to redeem that failure. The first two games had music that rivaled Final Fantasy's soundtrack, plenty of interesting environments, and a good story line that left a huge impact on me. This is an underrated series that deserves more recognition as an rpg, and I hope that it obtains that.
I really think _Dark Dawn_ 's biggest problem was that it was only half of the real "game", but unlike the first time around, we never got the second half. I feel that if we _had_ gotten its _The Lost Age_, the game would've ended up stronger for it. Perhaps they thought the game wouldn't sell as well, and didn't put as much work into setting up plot points to connect the two, or something like that.

I'm kind of glad this was my first Golden Sun game...I picked up a used copy for dirt cheap on a whim, so I had no expectations going in - I enjoyed it and it got me interested in playing the first two
I now realize how far I still have to go in this game.

gamerprince1999 look, i understand that the game was disappointing to many, but seriously, no need to keep bashing on it. i was disappointed to, but i realize i was just disappointed in the fact it was shorter than what i played long enough with the lost age. and ya it was easy, but it was still fun. i played it and lets be honest:it was FUN. the only problem is it was easy and short, but perhaps that's because it didnt fit more into such a small memory cartige? perhaps the developers had other projects in mind? perhaps nintendo told them to hurry up and release it because they want to release the 3ds, and if they dont, then their work would be waste because the 3ds will become the potential of the new age and graphics? i mean idk what reasons there was, but still, the game was pretty darn good.
in fact, if we cant show nintendo or camelot but just negativeness, then they will care not to even develop a finish to the series. everytime i read comments like this, it makes me mad because camelot is being rather discouraged than encouraged; instead of just saying all negative, lets be more positive and point out the negatives in a rather smoother way, so that there is hope for a 4th game.

man i am just sad they arent annoucing anything! i sent nintendo an email like back in highschool senior year (3 years ago) and they said something that made me hopeful...yet nothing! every nintendo direct or games announcements coming to 3ds or the E3's i basically get hyped and just want to hear one thing: golden sun 4...but its been 4 years and no goldensun announced. however, i was thinking...what if nintendo has camelot working on the 4th game and one of their hints for another one is coming is the fact they released the gba versions onto wii and 3ds virtual consoles in eshop? perhaps thats a way to grab more people to know about the game and they would guarantee the 4th game to have good sales?

Ever since the 2nd game came out and people finished it, they've waited for years for it to come but it never did until freaking 2010... A lot of people who loved the games gave up on it because of this... Now Camelot is doing the exact same thing as before... But you have a point. They did release it on Virtual Console for Wii U so maybe people got interested in it again and it could be a hint for a 4th game! I'm hoping too! btw I'm very active on TH-cam so that's why I replied fast lol

I have to agree with you. I loved Golden Sun, and Golden Sun: The lost age.
My first reaction to Golden Sun was when I was still a kid, so it was hard, since my English wasn't good. I finally finished it, with all special bosses and I was sooo happy. I found GS: TLA in the stores, and I bought it. I loved how you changed to Felix, and saw the things that happened in GS, but in Felix' perspective. They were actually challenging if you weren't overleveled, which I miss in GS: Dark Dark.

These are surprisingly well-executed, visually. They don't look gaudy and crude the way some of the early 3D Final Fantasy summoning animations do.
I still don't understand how anybody can tolerate actually playing a game that does this, though. It's so superficial and tedious. You're supposed to be playing, but then a movie interrupts, which is bad already... and on top of that, these little movies have no significant story content in them, so you aren't getting ANYTHING except spectacle. And even the spectacle wears out after you've seen each one once or twice. To watch these things during gameplay is to declare a small piece of your life to be valueless and discard it. Or at least, that's how it feels to me. (Apparently lots of people disagree.)

My only gripe is that some of the impact sounds (when it hits the enemies) feel rather weak compared to the GBA ones.

Weyard is a flat world? Wut? Next, you're going to tell me the Earth is flat too, huh? I know I know, the game depicts Weyard as a flat world, but I refuse to believe that it's flat. It's simply not possible.
"Weyard is the world on which the Golden Sun series takes place. It is a flat world, and the water of the oceans continually flows over its edges. In land locked places where there is no water to flow off the edge of the world, there is a sheer drop that goes down for an unknown height into nothingness" This is from the wiki, but is really obvious since the first and second games.

I think the reason why Weyard is flat, is because Alchemy has been locked away for so long. I strongly believe that Weyard used to be an actual round planet. The world withered away and the Weyard we know and love is the little that's left of it. I believe that as the Gaia Falls retreat, the world will reform and become round again. Besides, where does the water even come from if it just keeps falling down? The people of Weyard don't know enough about their world.
In our own world, about 500 years ago humanity also thought the world was flat. We thought the Earth was the center of the galaxy and that everything was spinning around us. It wasn't until we truly ventured out that we realised the world is round and that we are far from the center of the galaxy. We had to go past the borders of our imagination to better understand our world. The people of Weyard have to do the same. They have the technology and the brains, now they just need the courage.

Riki Spiral Camelot said they'd make a fourth game if Dark Dawn did well and unfortunately it didn't sell that well. A petition was made for a fourth game a couple years ago and it still didn't meet it's minimum signatures despite how old the petition is. It's a tragedy. :(

THIS is my opinion on golden sun: My favorite RPG, and most fun for me to play. its most exciting due to its destruction-porn summons and abilities, everything feels awesome, and the battle system is simple and easy to learn, unlike some other RPG's which take up so much more time to figure out. plus, i just love all the awesomeness of each summon, and how they seemingly each got sortof an expansion and more atmosphere to them in this game. y'know?

that dick head (hah!) was in Golden Sun 2 as an optional boss. Pissed me off to no end because i needed to beat him to get the Iris summon if i recall correctly
in GS3 i beat him in about 4 rounds by setting all djinns on standby summon 4 times daedalus and 4 times eclipse. Average character level was 45. In GS2 i leveled to level 99 and collected some rare drops.
I feel these animation and SFX don't have the impact like the one in gs1&2

The fifth party member's father is implied to be a character from the first game.
The sixth and eighth party members are, as far as I know, completely original from the first two games.
The seventh party member is a main NPC from the second game.
The eighth party member, Himi, is related to two NPCs from the second game also.

Disons que ce qui est vraiment dommage avec cette version, c'est la durée de vie qui est totalement bâclée. Tu finis le jeux limite en pensant que tu n'as fait que la moitié. C'est simple, j'étais tellement dégouté quand je l'ai terminé que je ne me suis même pas donné la peine de recherché les invocations et trésors qui me manquait. j'ai eu le même sentiment en finissant le jeux "Rage".
Blackdeath I felt the exact same way... I thought I was only half way through the game at the final boss but then I found out that was the last boss and I was soooo disappointed... Maybe someone else should make the Golden Sun games and not Camelot because they REALLY fucked up with Dark Dawn. The game was still great and fun to play and the music and graphics were great but it just felt like they didn't try that hard with this game. Especially if it was the last game they were gonna make for Golden Sun

Le personnage d'Alex n'a toujours pas été affronté donc on peut espérer une suite dont la durée de vie ne sera pas négligée cette fois-ci.
gamerprince1999 "Did not try that hard"? The dungeons are WAY more complex (with some downs of course, stupid zodiac-puzzle), the difficulty is upped, the environs are gorgeous, the Dual Screen interface is brilliant, AND you can finally do premature summons (i.e. inputting a summon command despite not having enough Djinn on standby) which makes for way more strategizing. Gameplay is A+. Of course, a good RPG should have a good story/narrative, but it improved on literally all the things I found lacking about the prequels, which in turn should pave the way lay a foundation for yet another crazy good sequel. I also think they did a good job of tying together such a vast timegap. They put some huge focus on lore in Dark Dawn.

Sword of Dusk, found in the Teppe Ruins. It's in the American games too, it's a midgame weapon, unlikely to be in your final inventory, although it does look cool.

The Star Magician is located in the depths of Treasure Isle's cave (far in the north of the Great Eastern Sea) in The Lost Age, while the Star Magician is in the Ghost Ship within a deep bank of fog beneath the Grave Eclipse at sea, Northeast from Kolima Forest and West of Harun Island. You have to enter the fog bank from just the right angle, though - visit Ayuthay for a hint...

I think think a game called Silver released way back in 1999 had the best Battle system. It was fully Real time with a Plausible * toggle Menu overlay if you wanted to ''turn-base'' it up a little. So you could cast and hack n slash with or without pausing seamlessly. It was Epic and the game that comes closest to matching it (or does match it in this case) is Zelda Breath as it's intense
All these years I thought Cybele was the frog creature, but it was really the woman controlling the frog creature.
One of the many awesome things about these games: Ridiculously over-the-top cutscenes.

I'm curious how this one will turn out seeing as it follows their "next generation" to be honest though I still wished it followed Isaac and the gang! Just because their adults now doesn't mean they suddenly forgot how to fight! In-fact it might be more interesting. :o

Hmm, little off topic, but I find it interesting the way things look on the 2 DS screens when the screens are shown touching each other like this video. I'm guessing the devs account for the usual space between the 2 screens and that's why images don't actually line up perfectly? If so, that's pretty cool that they think about it.
It should be noted that you aren't actually summoning Iris, but instead sending your enemies to her as a sacrifice in which she exchanges them for the heals and revives.

Judgement (didn't think it would top the original)

Daedalus (although I'm confused how he's moving so seemingly fast)
and Charon.
All the others i either think look worse than the original (like Procne or Haures) or about equal to the original (like Tiamat or Moloch).
Oh, and Crystallux was pretty good, too!
