I think people have said the reason it makes such strange sounds (I.e dogs barking or babies crying) might be similar to some of the robots in Metal Gear Solid, which make cow sounds to turn even the most typical, everyday sounds into ones that trigger traumatic responses for people ?
It's a good theory but it goes against it's predefined lore, soldiers won't get PTSD from this thing because there won't be soldiers remaining. They're a one-and-done weapon, they're dropped from orbit into a planet and they just *stay there* for the rest of their active lifespan, which is hundreds of years, they kill anything on sight, indiscriminately and ruthlessly The crying baby is probably more of a short term psychological weapon than War PTSD, it's just there to overwhelm and force a fearful reaction on the opposing forces to just stop them from even thinking rationally or acting up against it, they're also called Brainwashing Waves They're the real shit, the entry about them says how just 50 of them wrecked so much havoc they literally changed the course of an ongoing war (or something like that) But yeah, if you somehow survived this, you wouldn't ever be able to raise or even be near a kid again, a good way of stopping the enemy from regenerating their casualties
You probably didn't notice but at 1:15 he tried to grab you.. the moment he failed he just started making those baby noises which was perfectly timed with the failed attempt
Giving me ED-209 vibes when it falls down the stairs. Just crying. But the Old Birds do it on purpose as a scare tactic, ED-209 does it when in distress.
My first experience with the Old Bird was being caught out in the open by one on Experimentation. It just came rushing at me, thrusters engaged, baby crying sounds, sirens blaring, men yelling, whatever else, firing missiles as often as it could. It induced a kind of panic I hadn't felt from the game in a long while. I wish everyone could encounter it like that for the first time because seeing monsters at a safe distance just doesn't quite hit the same notes. Familiarity breeds contempt, as they say.
Yeah they spawn on pretty much any moon, offense being the highest chance apart from embrión and 68 Also experimentation has a super rare chance 3 or 0.3% chance I don't remember lol
@@SuperSpyArmyGuy could be, I did skim through the charts, just wanted to get an idea of the old birds when playing with grinding 68 on duo with my friend
@@bearnardthebear8252 ah, ok, yeah I looked up stuff about the new entities while me and my friend were waiting for another friend to come back, and I ended up reading EVERYTHING about the Old Bird
You're so lucky he didn't grab you and show what else he could do.
Yeah, I played a few more rounds afterwards ands he snatched me and fried me like a chicken nugget
The most horrifying part is the soundpack it has, particularly the baby crying. I find it unnerving.
The baby crying when they chase you is so terrifying and disturbing.
That means it is working
@jacksonville9642 An It's forever ingrained into my head💀💀💀💀
@@void_official404 almost as if that was its original purpose wink
these things are horrifying when in a chase.
the baby crying is so cute 😊
I think you mean Terrifying

Yeah that's what i've heard, being made to bombard soldiers with sounds to overstimulate and overwhelm them into PTSD

Didn't know they spawn on offense
They can spawn anywhere, but it's a pretty low chance for anywhere other than the new planets

@@bearnardthebear8252 I'm pretty sure all of them except for about 4 of them have 2%, and I believe experimentation was 2% too
