omg me at 65... this song explains my life. Except my father grew up in an age where men didnt talk about it... they suffered in silence. I learned as he learned. You bury it, you take care of business and that is what a man does. It aint about you. But it is... learn that, without you there is no other... but I still struggle at 65 with a little sister with cancer. Ache in my bones when the work day ends to come home and start again. Wouldn't trade it though, I still have my baby sister.
Got a grown man crying to himself. It's fine, i'll bear the emotion alone, so when my family are in tough times and feel vulnerable, they can always look to me as a pillar of strength to provide and protect.

Thank you! As a man my heart has been broken for most of my life. I have never gotten in return what I give. I would always put the women in my life in a brand new vehicle while I drove the old one! I would always work extra hard to make more money to provide. I would always give whenever they would ask! Now I have been completely alone for most of 16 years. I'm very handsome, strong , and stay in good shape with physical fitness. I get approached all the time but I won't go there! It hurts to much

Ive been struggling trying to be the man I want to see to me, my kids and my wife. I understand why my dad left and ran. Amazing how a song can answer questions I had for 25+ years that no one could answer. There are those days where I do feel like running, more then I'd like to admit too. But once I catch that glimpse of my kids experienceing true happiness it makes all the pain and all the torment worth it, makes me keep trucking. I will break my family's curse I choose to be the last one and my god is it hard. Stay up to all the amazing men out there, we may not feel needed but we definitely are and don't give ourselves the credit we deserve!

If you, as a man can't navigate your part of their world, how will they? Please don't force them to continue that heartbreaking cycle. You're not the only one affected. They know what's going on, & their little hearts are filled with fear, worry, anxiety, pain & heartbreak more than you know, even if they say nothing. If you leave them, you'll add anger & those emotions which will become more severe. Think about the destructive paths that'll become so much easier for them to take without your full attention & guidance. Their lives will be destroyed before they begin. Please, I've watched my son suffer his entire life with depression & a whole lot more until it destroyed and killed him. I'd give my life not to have married a destructive man. He deserved a real father, not a male person. It isn't enough. Those kids need a real family. Just as Christ is the head of His Church, so is a man the head of his household. A godly man. They need you to teach them how. They won't learn if you're not there. Moms can't do it. Only Dads can. You made the decision to have a family; they didn't get to make a choice. If you leave, they'll die before their bodies do. I haven't stopped sobbing since listening to that song, and it's all for the precious life that was lost before it was ever lived. Even though most days I wake up disappointed in myself for not passing in my sleep, fighting just to do the most basic of tasks, just trying to appear “normal” so nobody asks any questions or pushes when I’m not ready… I try to remind myself that dealing with mental health is a tough…. You can break the cycle with your son. Teach him to understand that his feelings matter too. It's 2023. The easiest way to teach him this is to teach him how to recognize his tribe. Also, teach him to let his emotions escape (while staying in control of course). The most dangerous thing a man can do to his mental health is bottle it up. God, this really makes me miss my daddy. He passed away a year ago. I remember the first time I saw him cry and how upset he was. He said men don't cry. My sister and I told him from that day on, that real men cry. They show their feelings. It hurts knowing how many men are still raised to believe that they shouldn't show their feelings.

Not gonna lie, as a man I fought depression for so long after losing my dad at the age of 13 and it stayed with me for a long time and it just built up after losing friends and family. Eventually it got so bad that I thought the only way out was to eat a bullet but away from my wife and daughter. To this day I have those thoughts but I know that I have to stay strong for them but they are there when I fall. To all the men who are suffering in silence, you got this and our brotherhood is strong!

At first the allure of this song was Darrius Rucker, rhyming this way. Then every single word he recorded was a particular pain that every single man experiences. Not because women don't, they sure do. But to hear a man of his stature, reverence, was saying them. This is a rare way that a man feels seen, even if that is not the word he would use to describe it.
It's not just about being a man. Us single mothers feel the same way. Thank god my son has his father in his life. We aren't together, but we fight together to make sure that my son has everything he needs. His dad is an amazing man, but this song applies to both of us

I’m so sorry yall feel this way. I sent it to the Father I love the most. This is his mindset and I try to just love him as gracefully as I can despite how much he gets on my nerves not taking care of himself. I know he can use somebody reminding him how rare it is for a person to take what they believe is their mission in life seriously.
