I have to say that I do like the of ending of the 2007 movie more than that of the musical. I didn't even realize it wasn't the ending of the musical because Inez winning just makes more sense. Little Inez winning the contest made her character and her mother's more important and actually made the Corny Collins show integrated. It's also a good change that the main character didn't win as Tracy doesn't even seem to care much about miss Teenage Hairspray so her winning doesn't do anything for her character arc. If anything seeing Inez win accomplishes her goal of getting to show to be integrated which winning THS doesn't really do.
Agree but I think Tracey winning helped her achieve her dreams to get into the college she wanted but yeah, Inez winning does make more sense for the show to be officially integrated.

I saw Hairspray on Broadway back in the 8th grade for the end of the school year class trip with my chorus group and Harvey Fierstien was Edna and seeing him as Edna here, brings back so many memories.
So sad. Being a school night, my daughter and I stayed up last night to watch this together, but she couldn't keep her eyes open til the end, so we decided we would watch the end together this morning over her birthday breakfast, but our stove bombed out and it took over an hour to get breakfast sorted and the video expired about 20 minutes before the end of the show. So devastated! Hopefully one day we get to see what happens in the end.
I really wanted to like this but honestly, I feel like they might have gone wrong in casting a bit. It almost feels like they tried to pack star potential rather than seeking what worked best for the role. Course, this is simply a fan opinion. I'm no musical or casting director
I agree. Tracy, Corny Collins, Velma, and Seaweed seem very well cast. I personally don’t love Harvey Fierstein in this, and I think that both dove Cameron and Ariana Grande did not fit their roles. Ariana Grande has a much “popier” voice that does not fit this show, and Dove Cameron seemed very flat in her acting; I would have preferred her as penny.
Hairspray live is meant to be fun and a one time thing, where fans can see celebrities take part in a professional musical, if you wanted to see a better cast without the stars then the original broadway one is probably better for you, obviously they have to have some degree of talent there which I’m sure u can see, but this is obviously created for the intention of the celebrities fans
All of these musical live shows (grease live, hairspray live, etc) purposely to like showcase celebrities doing professional musicals. So while some of the casting might have not been perfect, they did what other live musicals do (packed star power).
I don’t know how accurate this is to the actual broadway production but the dialogue is so rocky. it feels like a bunch of one liners rather than a conversation or a flow of events. that being said, they sounded pretty great for singing this live, this is like the hardest song to maintain breath support for lol!
Actually the whole production was pretty accurate except for the fact that they removed the opening number from act II. In this number there were only like two lines changed. And yeah it is a heavy number. Even for the movie which was pre recorded, the cast called it "you can't stop to breathe".
idk about castings but tracy, penny, seaweed and link were really good. like i had to watch this four times to focus on each one of them performing. THE STAGE PRESENCE RLLY GOT ME UGH
Ariana grande didn’t really fit her role, and dove Cameron would have fit better as penny. I agree that Jennifer Hudson was good, as well as Kristen Chenoweth as Velma. Other than that the cast was ok.
@@Blue-xt7kc I'm not sure if you know who Micheal Ball is (He played Edna in the UK Tour) I really wish they would've had him as Edna. Even thought Harvey is the original, it just didn't fit that much in this version.

So devastated! Hopefully one day we get to see what happens in the end.
I saw a few people on the full thing say that it was on daily motion in parts I will go try to find it and link it 😁
Oh man that's unfortunate. Hope she had a lovely birthday anyways! 🌻
@@gggriffith1579 Thanks for that! I'll have a look. That would be awesome :)
@@lilianrebelle9224 Aww, thanks x
Although I do think this version has the parts in between from the original broadcast when they spoke to people about it, hope it isn't too annoying
I CANNOT stop watching this!! Whoever the choreographer was is a GENIUS! Pure Gold!!
This was an awesome show!👍 Really brightened my day and got me singing along! 💃
*"I **_CAN'T_** sit down! I **_CAN'T_** sit down!"*
*TEN! TEN!!*
I didn’t think tracy fit her role I think she was picked cause she was plus-sized she couldn’t dance like the original tracy
@@Blue-xt7kc I saw it on Broadway with Harvey twice---he plays it much better in a room of people (the whole time).
Most of these live performances blow me away with how much talent they showcase.
Love this musical, It wasn't available in my country apparently
This song will always make my heart happy 💕
It was great.......saw it twice......it is one of my top 5 shows! Thank you! ❤️👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻❤️
This is one of my favorite movies! Still speaks volumes to this day!!!
Even though Garrett Clayton is gay I still have a crush for him
This never gets old never. It’s like watching it for the first time all over again. A roller coaster of goosebumps. I love it
I don’t know how accurate this is to the actual broadway production but the dialogue is so rocky. it feels like a bunch of one liners rather than a conversation or a flow of events. that being said, they sounded pretty great for singing this live, this is like the hardest song to maintain breath support for lol!
Actually the whole production was pretty accurate except for the fact that they removed the opening number from act II. In this number there were only like two lines changed. And yeah it is a heavy number. Even for the movie which was pre recorded, the cast called it "you can't stop to breathe".
@@evandangel8173 also Tracy didn’t win
@@sahayplayz that’s how it is orginally Amber won and Tracy doesn’t care that she won or at least in the one of the versions
This is one of the most joyous, triumphant moments in musical theatre history.
In comparing the 2007 movie to this Live version, I've realized that they both cast Disney movie stars for Link and Nickelodeon stars for Penny.
Maddie was such a great Tracy
idk about castings but tracy, penny, seaweed and link were really good. like i had to watch this four times to focus on each one of them performing. THE STAGE PRESENCE RLLY GOT ME UGH
This whole thing got me rolling and dancing with them
"If Tracy came in through the FRONT door, then who the heck is hiding in that can?!"
What a delightful performance! Cant help but bop to the beat!
i really enjoy watch the live stream of hairspray looking forward to the next show hoping it be the wiz live that my fav nba live show
this song is very much needed in our time.
Can everyone agree that Motormouths gold catsuit was everything
Jennifer set in interviews that it was also extremely heavy and hard to move in. Lolzz
I Love ❤All The Hairspray Movies 🎬
I was dancing and singing along
This part right here was my favorite part
i love this but ariana sounds like she's singing in an 8pt cursive font
Holy shit, this might be the best analogy for Ariana's singing I've ever read!!
SCREAMINGG
KiloD thank u thank u
Your pfp! You wiiiiiiiilll BE MORE CHILL!
This wins the internet
This is absolutely iconic
It's ok.
I'm impressed with Jennifer Hudson taking on the role of Maybelle.
Ariana grande didn’t really fit her role, and dove Cameron would have fit better as penny. I agree that Jennifer Hudson was good, as well as Kristen Chenoweth as Velma. Other than that the cast was ok.
@@Blue-xt7kc I agree with you entirely.
Same, hun. Same. :(
@@Blue-xt7kc
Oh shit I didn't even think of that. Dove would have been a much better Penny than Ariana!
@@Blue-xt7kc I'm not sure if you know who Micheal Ball is (He played Edna in the UK Tour) I really wish they would've had him as Edna. Even thought Harvey is the original, it just didn't fit that much in this version.
This scene ALWAYS puts me in the best of moods! XD
Please upload "I Know Where I've Been". Not only is Jennifer Hudson a QUEEN, but the song is so important and needs to be heard again and again, especially now because sadly, in 2020 it is still just too damn relevant.
happychaosofthenorth - I agree ❤️ - listen everyday.... 🤗
The Shows Must Go On! I love this Rock Song. It was transcribed for Guitar by an artist that recently died named Eddie Van Halen. RIP Eddie, you'll always be a source of inspiration.
Wanted to watch it yesterday but said it wasn't available, that's not fair. It's the first one I miss, I even tried 3 times, once on Friday and twice on Saturday 😭😭
It's going to take a miracle to get networks to give us musicals like this again. Way too many people, too much virus worry. But thank God we had this happen, as well as Fox's Grease.
This scene is just amazing let’s be honest
From The moment that this came out a few years ago I got the dvd super fast ❤️
I love hairspray Live it's my favorite musical movie
I love Hairspray. It's my favorite Broadway Musical
Tomorrow is a brand new day, and it don't know white from black
Ha ha ha...... yeah....
Little did they know...😔
Eponine?
I like how they have some of the OG cast of the first run
I JUST MISSED IT
Same :(
I had downloaded it, before I watched it :)
@@kitiket8016 I was going to do that, but I forgot because I have finals
You can find it online! It's Hairspray Live from 2016 :) Hope you can find it
@@ashildrtheswift3028 Can you give me a hint? Consider me an old lady who doesn't know all the GOOD places.
I was crush in this song because i will be able to be Ordinary people in this show. It shows in 1960s america but i can see that moment in 2023. There are a lot of times that i can feel my limitness these day. I really know about my troubles that i have but i believe i can do anything! Thanks for this song and film.
