I love how Samantha gets legit ugly with it towards the end of her number, the screaming and the sobbing, incredibly expressive, just doing it with your whole chest, 10/10
The queens: “we shouldn’t compare ourselves.” The queens: *sing a song about how they shouldn’t compare themselves* Khoward: “SiNg AlOnG tO YoUr FaVoUrItE qUeEn’S sOnG!”
That line and the way Sam (and other KHs) points to herself after it is just another reminder that she was way younger than everyone thinks. The whole MegaSIX is a reminder of how young Katherine Howard was when she died. She cuts off both Jane and Anne of Cleves, as though she’s saying “enough of these queens. It’s my turn!”
the "funny how we all discussed that but never henry's little-" "PRICK up your ears" thing is even better when you realize the word prick is actually a term for the Thing and didn't have any other meanings in their time so she's literally just finishing and building off Anne's sentence
Fun fact: Henry was actually so mad at K Howard he buried her in something I forgot the name of, leaving no remains. The only evidence we have that she actually existed was journals and paintings and letters.
Oooo (if you are religious save yourself the trouble of reading this, and don’t) anyways, there is a naturally occuring fire pit somewhere in the world, one that resembles the stories of burning in hell, some people theorize that that naturally occuring fire pit is where the concept of hell came from because people would throw dead bodies into it to get rid of the remains, idk why this comment reminded me of that theory Not this specific one but its theorized there were pits like this before but this is one from the 1900s \/\/\/ Edit: The Darvaza gas crater, also known as the "Gates of Hell", is a burning pit in the Karakum Desert of Turkmenistan
Howard's body had quicklime thrown over it, defacing her corpse. She was interred without a casket, gravestone or even a marker under the floor of the chapel of Saint Peter ad Vinculum, close to the body of Anne Boleyn, her brother George Boleyn and next to the body of her lady-in-waiting Jane Boleyn, Lady Rochford (who was George Boleyn's wife and Anne Boleyn's sister in law). Their bodies were recovered during Victorian-era restorations of the chapel and they were reburied with proper honours beside each other. What Henry successfully destroyed was all the portraits of Katherine. There are images and paintings claimed to be of her, but all of them are dubious. The same goes for Anne Boleyn, who also has no confirmed surviving paintings of her (the closest we have is a small lead medallion from 1534 that shows a miniature carving of Anne beside her name and royal motto - "The Most Happy". But it's not anywhere close to a clear image).
How about that moment after heart of stone when Jane says "because what hurts more than a broken heart?" and then Anne goes "A severed head" or before heart of stone when Jane says "people say henry was stone hearted, uncaring and I'm not sure that he was" and Anne then says "yeah acctualy come to think of it there was this one really cute time when I had a daughter and he chopped my head of" 🥰😍
The line about Henry liking Anne head is even funnier when you know that the reason she kept his interest for so long but kept her virginity until marriage was because she satisfied him with...well, you know.
If you're referring to "other ways" that she satisfied him without losing her virginity, there is absolutely zero proof that she did such things, and they would have been considered mortal sins. Henry himself said afterwards that he had been seduced and forced into the marriage the means of "charms and trickery" but again, there is no proof that she did "well, you know" with him.
'What a weekend...I'm like dead!' A great little history joke bc Anne Boleyn was executed on Friday May 19 1536 and Henry was officially betrothed (engaged) to Jane 24 hours later on the 20th
5:58 - 9:45 Not once during her song did she say she was killed, or talked about her death, she only said she was killed after her song ended. unlike Anne who talked about her death and was killed at the end of her song. I think that is because she felt like she was dead well before she lost her head.
Yeah she’s like screw it. yeah he killed me, but I don’t care about that. I didn’t really have a life anyway, it was just violation after violation. All the queens talk about the most important part of their stories, and I think All You Wanna Do really reflects that. She doesn’t care that Henry beheaded her. She cares that her story was over way before she was beheaded
Andrea is perfectly ott and Sam is so great at giving off the confidence for her role and when she performs her song, the acting is just beautiful and tragic and feels realistic. These are my 2 favorites (but Anne is just the scene stealing little gremlin and I love that for her character)
8:01 Notice how in Manox's and Dereham's version of the chorus, The instrumental on this part doesn't have any siren, While In Henry's, The Siren started to get louder, And On Culpeper's It's the loudest? (It can be heard better with the Studio recording version) Combining with her realization "I guess it's not so different..." She's starting to pick up on the red flag but still haven't grasp it fully, It's only until she see Culpeper intentions that She realized the danger, hence the siren being really loud there Still, That was already too late for her.
Another cool detail: in the Act I of her song (I refuse to refer to it as name of that man. It's just my thing, it's not relevant) is that we can hear a flute in some moments after Katherine says "blowing the flute" for the first time. Its very proemint in the first pre-chorus (starts at 6:20) , and after Act II takes place, we hear the flute no longer.
Bro I just saw “SIX” and I loved it so much😆 They were all so funny and it was soooo GREAT. Also Sam Pauly 🔛🔝 with the faces in “All you wanna do” I loved the whole thing💗😆
That final shrug that gets some laughter, I find it so telling it's mainly men that laugh. I remember sitting in the audience when I first heard it and I could just see women tensing up and getting choked up (myself included) well before (most) men did. Men seemed to need that drastic musical change and the lyrics becoming unambiguous to get the message, whereas women picked up on all the little things from the first verse onwards. So powerful.
3:52 fun fact Anne Boylen actually wore yellow to Catherine of Arogon’s funeral bc it was equivalent of wearing black today to a funeral it was the norm
Glad that I saw them before those penny-pinching bastards kicked the Queens to the side rather than pay them what they deserved in a new contract. Not one penny of my money has gone to Six since they did that.
can we ALSO NOT forget that Jane Seymour was ALSO their cousin...same with CATHERINE PARR b/c a little after Henry VIII dies Parr falls in love with, gets with AND has a BABY with one of Jane's two older brothers, the other one tryna become King by getting REALLY close to his nefew, Jane's and Henry's son, King Edward VI, who ruled from 1547, which, by the way, he was only 10 years old then, to his death 6 years later in 1553, at the age of 16. The one brother never became King like he wanted, b/c as soon as Edward died, Mary the first, daughter of Catherine of Aragon and Henry VIII, became Quenn, like, the next day, and kicked him off of the Council. Also, the baby girl that Parr and the other Seymour broth had, soon after, Parr died, the brother LEFT, and the baby was 2 years old at the time, but, the ONLY records of her life that ANYONE has ANYWHERE, was those two short years. After that, there's nothing of her, it's like she just disappeared. Little history lesson for y'all. Ask questions below and I WILL respond to them 👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇
Little correction, Edward made another woman his heir (forgot her name but she was some relative nowhere near in line to the throne), Mary I and Elizabeth I were, as far as I remember correctly, removed from the line to the throne (is that how you call it?) when their respective mothers were divorced/killed. This queen was only queen for I think it was 9 days (shortest reign ever; she was beheaded) because Mary and Elizabeth and their supporters banded together to retake the throne and make Mary queen, it was the only time those two actually agreed on something since they were raised completely different (esp. with Mary being catholic and Elizabeth protestant) (got this from some documentaries I watched a few years back, the ones about the reigns of Mary and Elizabeth were from ARTE (german and french tv station) and the one about the queen who's name I've forgotten might have been from National Geographics about famous people imprisoned and killed at the Tower of London, not sure though) Edit: The National Geographics series is called "Bloody Tales of the Tower" and the relevant episode is the first one
@@akirauchiha187 you are some what correct...there was another lady on the throne but it was after Edward died even after it was also I'm pretty sure after Mary the first before Elizabeth so her name was Lady Jane from a memory correctly and but she only rolled the throne for I think three days it was either 3 days or 6 days but after that she got executed and then that's when Elizabeth I took the throne and ruled until 1601 when she died. It was either that one Lady Jane ruled or it was between Edward and Mary the first... Edit: if I remember correctly Lady Jane was a cousin I forget how but she was a cousin in some way and she was also married to a guy that was associates I don't want to say friends but he were associates he was associates with Elizabeth the first
@ItsKenna13 Lady Jane Grey (1537-2/17/1554) was the granddaughter of Henry VIII's younger sister, Mary Tudor, and his best friend, Charles Brandon. Her mother was Frances Brandon-Grey. The plot originated after John Dudley, Duke of Northumberland, successfully lobbied Edward VI to execute his uncle, Edward Seymour, then to marry the young king to Jane Grey because they were both staunch Protestants and would keep England Protestant, which would obviously leave the would-be Mary I out of the succession because she was a staunch Catholic who wanted Catholicism back to power in England. When Edward VI suddenly took ill and died before any real marriage contracts could make it passed the first round of negotiation, Northumberland and the young king together (Edward was a willing and active participant in the succession shenanigans, sick as he was) put Jane Grey after him to cut both 'illegitimate' Mary and Elizabeth out of the succession, which culminated in the Suffolks (Jane's father's holdings name) and Northumberland marrying Jane and Guildford Dudley. Guildford's brother, Robert, was Elizabeth's on-off suitor/friend/confidante. Hope that helps. This is one of my favorite eras in European history due to the messiness and the interesting women lol.
I really love the fact they both have revealing dresses (but not too much like those str1pp3rs) and instead of crowns they have these spiked hair accs? Ig, but both are very fun at first in their songs but then it goes down hill. For anne she complained abt henry not being there for her and their child. Then pisses him off by… idk, arguing, and worries abt herself and her head. Cuz she pissed him off soo badly he got soo an-gy he cut her head off But the for K Howard i(dw/i don’t wanna spell their full names) she was in many ‘relationships’ and finally had a break from men, then found henry then found some ‘true love’ with a servant until she found out he wasn’t different and lost her head (I actually felt so bad for her) like- she got gr00m3d, found some ‘love’ in some job ig, then took a break, and then found the king (henry), as I said earlier, found ‘different love’ from servant and it was NOT different (love).
@ most of the time she’s singing about Henry. Her eyes look a little unfocused and she looks like she might be sick, like her facial expressions, she makes it looks like she’s having trouble singing
When K Howard’s song started in the theatre with “he was 23 and I was 13” I literally sat bolt upright in my seat and was angrily looking between my teenager and the stage like “what the actual f is going on? They can’t be serious that this is a cute story!” As it unfolded I realised how triggering it was personally and why I jumped out of my skin to begin with. Isn’t trauma fun?
Yea tbh she was abused sinced tha age of 13 and died at the age of nineteen and all she was love only to be beheaded and be replaced like the others if the actually WAS a completion she would have won by a mental landslide
