I am so glad to have grown up through the 70’s and 80’s watching Countdown and listening to great music, I love revisiting old music videos just to escape modern reality for a while!
I was one of the lucky ones. Born in 1964, in my teens in the 70s and that was the time music would be the very best it would ever be. Thanks to technology, we can relive it, you can learn about it and keep it alive.
Who would have expected a song with these lyrics to not only have been broadcast by Countdown but to have also made it to #1 on the Top 40 charts nearly 40 years ago!!
Back then, the lyrics were considered abso-bloody-lutely scandalous, deranged, perverted, disgusting, the younger generation would go to hell in a handbasket - all the same stuff that was trotted out ab out Elvis Presley and the Beatles. I grew up in this fabulous era of music and I've not yet gone to hell in any sort of conveyance.
First live gig I went to. I was 11. Had no idea what they were singing about! They supported Ted Mulry Gang who had a hit with Jump in My Car. Oh those innocent years were awesome 😂

70's glam rock always had a lot of sexual ambiguity about it. Just read David Bowie's and Lou Reed's comments at the time regarding their thoughts and attitudes to bi-sexuality.
Seen them live several times, if I remember right it was one time in support of JPY & the other as the Headline act. Put on a Great live show, very tight & lots of energy. Edit for spelling:
I thought they moved to England & started Nauts! If they moved to Sydney, why isn't there any footage or photos commonly available? I love this band, both Supernaut & Nauts. FUCK! June 18! I'm there. THANKS, SUPERNAUT! Best band in the world, fuck all posers. Where's the CDs & records. (I mean, I've got 'em all, but a definitive CD re-release blockbuster is in order). GET STUFFED! SUPERNAUT! YAYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
it's a good song - lyrically it pushed the acceptable moral limits of the time. Production wise it's a song's timing is a bit all over the place. The fact that dispite the production's timing issues - the song still comes through strong is a testament to the strength of the song - particulary the lyric of the chorus, heavy riffs and big beat.
I remember they did a short gig at my High School (Dover Heights Boys) would have been 74-75, we weren't that impressed at the time as their wasn't much comparison to Sky Hooks at the time.
@@ACDZ123 Hey mate take it easy it was a long time ago, you could be correct maybe it was 76 but they definately came to my school, nobody knew who they were it was so random.
It was all down hill after this. Have no sympathy for bands who chop and change to whatever the fashion is at any time, should have stayed to their hard rocking style, by late 1980 it was back in fashion. Angels and Cold Chisel never changed and are still popular legends .
This song is so underated ❤ it's Just awesome forty something years later ❤we have some brilliant Aussie talent ❤

I wish I was born during the 70’s, what a time to be alive in terms of music
Yup, but you really needed to be born in the '60's to enjoy it. That way the '70's would happen in your teens when you could attend the venues.

A golden 70s oldie! Love it!!!

Molly produced the album. They were ALWAYS going to be on Countdown. And rightly so!!

Now I know what The Spiders From Mars were doing when Bowie was on holidays.
The Painters & Dockers covered this song on their Kill, Kil, Kill. EP.
Its hard to find and is not on Spotify. Its done as a tribute and it rocks.

I know what Johnny's doing - he's using a high pitched voice to attract women, and a low pitched voice to attract men.

oh dear. Why did I ask my mate to remember the name of this band?
Shocking!!!🤣
"current" countdown 🌈
This was banned from Countdown for its lyrics !
No it wasn't.
Considering Molly Meldrum produced it, I highly doubt it
No it was not I saw it think wow it"s a bit risky 😮😅😂
Was not, molly loved it because he produced it and the lyrics are about him.
It was banned by Sydney radio station 2SM - owned at the time by the Catholic Church
Just heard it on the end of spicks and specks, thought I'd better check it out, LOVN it
This won Countdown's Film clip of the Year in '76. Certainly wasn't song of the year that's for sure.
I am Metal Elbow
I'd forgotten how bad this is!
Jimmy Barnes mentions these guys in his book. He didn't like the song any way it came. Lol
Crap then! Even crappier now :)
Yep, it wasn’t a highlight. In anyone’s language.
Absolute shite Song. Had the misfortune to see them. They were Horrid!
