I am another who feels privileged to have grown up in the late ‘70’s, 80’s and early ‘90’s. I took it for granted as we all probably did and only really appreciate those times in retrospect. 😌
Love this. I was a little kid when I noticed a heap of my brothers teenage friends in our lounge room watching Countdown every weekend. It's because we were the second family in Condo NSW that had a colour TV at that time. Our little house rocked.
Just love it. I remember seeing it for the first time on Count Down. What a blessed era we lived in. Thank you to all those wonderful Australian bands that shaped us. Thank you to Janie Miller for her precious inside-knowledge comments below. You were part of the shaping of Australian youth!
Found it! Why this song has been rattling around in my head for the last 2 days is beyond me; maybe a flashback to my teens that finally crawled to the surface. Great to hear the Ferretts again!
Growing up in the 70's, was awesome. So many many awesome songs came out back then, and this was one. Kinda like, everytime you play it, it's like listening to it for the first. Like a good bottle of Port, gets better with age.
Billy Miller was and I think continues to be a fantastic knowledgeable musician. I was lucky enough to share a house with Billy (my first love) when he and Martin Falls were writing fantastic songs and operas no less!! They were crazy crazy days. Some of the songs and covers were tried out at the Green Man in High Street Malvern. Billy went on to be a great writer and museo, husband and father. I am proud I knew him, way back then. A life time ago. Far better than the bs we are facing now with the push to the new world order.
The Green Man! My mum used to tell me about it. I wish we still had venues like that. All the talent those venues fostered, from which the rest of us gained!
I was driving my Mums car and this song came on. I just searched "Don't fall in love" and I was surprised! This song is so great and I wish I had taken it to my heart. But WHAT surprised me was that the singer was MALE. I was listening to the AM channel, so sounds are obviously not the same as FM. But the singer reminds me of Freddy Mercury from Queen. With the jutting out teeth and facial expressions. Not sure if the movie makes me think they are bigger than they were actually in real life. But LOVE THIS SONG.
I got their album (once the cover had been finalised). Scratched into the vinyl on the smooth bit near the label was the message 'Well Willie Everfinish finally finished. Hope you like it. Molly xxx'
Amazing you should say that, Nathan! Pam (pink shirt) is actually Georgia's aunt. I'm the dag in the green hat and I'm so proud to be Georgia Field's mum!
But the other writer Ian Davis has passed, we think from severe depression my younger sister was going out with his younger brother when Ian died. One of his only possessions left was his gold record.

Me too, Chris! It was a lot of fun. And lots of really great music. We have a lot to thank Molly for....

The 70s was an awesome era, I'm so lucky to have a big sister who taught me what real music is!!
Haven't heard this song for years. Where were they from? MELBOURNE?

They lived just down the street from me in Caulfield North (Halstead St) and St Kilda.
Used to go over all the time, they were nice people.
❤❤❤❤❤❤
One of The Best Songs .......... Ever !! a Classic thank you to the "The Ferrets"
Loved this song then, and still love it now, every time it comes up on my car radio station, Magic 1278, songs from the 60's 70's and 80's :)

Oh the memories, the 70's
I loved this song as a child,
I still enjoy it.
I honestly thought that their semblance to actual ferrets was uncanny.

Lol, I remember this! I haven't heard it since it first came out!
Very few performers play that colour Fender Stratocaster - only one I can recall seeing since the 70s.
Great love it
Thanks Michelle!
Help Is on its Way got to number 1 in June 1977.

I need one of those green hats
Don't fall in love 🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶
saw them as a roadie = sandown park hotel we were a support band - kirk l`orange on bitching slide guitar !
That chick in the pink top is hot!yeah luv this song!
How good. Love it. Awesome. Real Oz shit
there is much to learn
Good
What a rippa of a song... Still good today.
I once heard this guy described as a rat peeking over a burst mattress.
love it best description I have ever heard thanks for the giggle
I think that's his sister in the pink top.
The description I'd give her would be somewhat different. ;-)
One of the Miller sisters in the pink top without a cap looks like Geena Davis
saw them at a dandenong high gig
yer i miss the 70s no inhibitions
Will E Everfinish (producer). What is his REAL name?
It's poking fun at Molly Meldrum.
😊😊
I never liked this song in its day. I like it now though ;)
Best song of the 70's bitches
There's weirdly no snare drum because someone forgot to bring to the recording session, but they recorded the song anyway
I often see Billy walking his dog Joni in a local park
2023❤
is that Georgia Fields' mother in the pink shirt ?
yes my mother too! how did u know?
Actually I'm the one in the green cap. Pam was the gorgeous one! Miss Fields looks a lot like her aunty Pam.
you were definately babe material back then too
Amazing you should say that, Nathan! Pam (pink shirt) is actually Georgia's aunt. I'm the dag in the green hat and I'm so proud to be Georgia Field's mum!
How much did you guys smoke before this was shot?
These songs just don’t happen anymore to the chagrin of reality
Soooo True 🎶🎶🎶💙
Who else is hear from puberty blues?😍😍
no one
Molly did so much for local music.
October 13 2023 and this song pops into my head .isreal about to enter Gazza strip with ground forces.ah world.
how did the big blouse girl end up...
Darling Harbour Massage
LMGTFY?
She's great, thanks for asking. Still sings like a bird and she's raising another amazing young musician - her daughter Helen.
Still singing, still gorgeous....my sister Pam
This band promised so much. What happened?
if you dont look too closely, you'd think Geezer Butler, Kate Bush and Ricki Lee Jones were in that band :p
Stood apart from the rest of the mid 70's bland Aust pop. Molly's intervention, especially overproduced Dreams of love. Needed a good lyricist.
And the group disappeared as quickly as they surfaced.
Ferrit rocked, he wrote this song and we partied hard with his rewards until it lilled him
What?
Billy's alive and kicking and still gigging... Thanks Dave.
He is still alive. I guess all of those parties happened in your head Dave.
But the other writer Ian Davis has passed, we think from severe depression my younger sister was going out with his younger brother when Ian died. One of his only possessions left was his gold record.
I remeber my sister was having her engagement to a creep a kidds Despised him he abused us and this song was a huge hit her marriage failed ha
.
