Saw them at a high school social at the Maylands town hall in late 1975. Like most pub bands of the era they had a good repertoire and did a very good cover of Smoke On The Water .
Still a great Rock riff almost 50 years on. As a 12 year old I was startled by the lyrics at the time though. As a 100 percent hetro male, I reckon a opportunity was lost for Part 2 for the song where Jenny liked it both ways.
Before they got the record deal they were support act to my brother's band Argus a fair bit. They got the record deal and Argus got shafted by Molly Meldrum because when he hit on one of the band members, that band member threatened to take Molly outside and give him a hiding. Argus record deal was going to be on the Wizard label, I remember my brother got a few free records to have a listen to prior to signing. They were interviewed on The Issy Dye show and on Nightmoves by Lee Simon. The deal was shot when Meldrum put the kibosh on it. Meldrum was a vindictive son of a bitch that ruined a lot of upcoming muso's careers.
@bondsee One word for that comment "DUMB"!!!!One word for this post "ROCKIN'"! Thanks for the great post.Could swear this was sourced from Countdown rather than Bandstand? Not realy completely certain on this one?Any thoughts here?
Great jab, but Chris Burnham was the man. 1973 Red Cherry Custom LP, he got some decent tone out of it. Probably looked up to Bolan and Ronson, too, of course -- as most did back then.
@topofthepopsguy definitely not countdown as they rarely showed a clip without the countdown logo on it somewhere, and pretty sure Darryl Summers never hosted the show.
I vaguely remember this song as a 6 year old. Singer reminds me a little of Roger Daltrey. Apparently this band also had another song called Lick My Lollipop ...
@bondsee Seriously.Get a life. Not to be rude at all in any way here. But,there is no need to regress mentally to the state of a troubled 3rd grader here in these extremely un-intelligent comments.I did not mean to be rude in any way here.If you do not like it,do not watch it,simple as that, and leave the rude childish comments where they belong,to yourself.
Just makes me realize how spoilt we were for great rock bands in the 70's.
I envied my older cousins being teens in this era. Damn being born in 1980
@@jennysmith9501 at least you can get all this online 🎸😊
Awww what a golden oldie, this gorgepus song will never leave me. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

I remember screaming this out with my friends in the school playground back then with no idea what it meant :))))
Same Same Calamityj
I Remember watching this on A Pye B&W TV. I was 8yo.
One of those 1970's songs you can never get outta you head.
Great stuff! Wish I’d seen this in ‘76.

The singer reminds me of Geddy Lee of Rush when he hits those high notes.

My friend likes it all ways
Hey WHO IS DA BASS GUY???
What a risqué title for a pop record in 1976!
You weren't around in 76 were you?
The '70s was a wild time! I was born in '74, but remember all the hippies running around.
