    *Hey! Apologies this video is a little late to the Sony ZV-1 conversation* - I actually filmed it several weeks ago, but then got pulled away on freelance work. I've noticed a couple things missing whilst editing so let me know if you have any questions...
    As mentioned, links to all my Sony RX100 gear is in the description. Thanks a lot x

    That was a really solid review. Thank you! Sometimes reviews where one (or more!) of the items haven't been used seem insincere, but you definitely made it work. I like your focusing on what it's like to actually use, and not just talking specs.

    I’d say without a doubt that this is the best comparison between the 2 cameras I ever watched. It made me decide on my new purchase and I thank you for that, sir. Keep them coming and keep shooting,.

    Nice clearly explained comparison. I just bought an RX100VII as I like my RX100V a lot but felt I needed the extra zoom sometimes when travelling.

    Nice work. I have been comparing my rx100vii with my new zv1. See my recent reviews. I like the footage more on the RX but I have a hard time putting down the ZV1. I love the new screen and grip and the speed of opening Ugh I don’t want to lose it and looking ways to justify keeping both. Ha. If you get a zv1 I would like to see your comparison.

    I have gone through the same process myself in my mind. I was carrying my G9, Gimbal and £1000 of lenses when my ZV1 actually means I get more footage as I take it out with me every day on vacation.

    A very excellent comparison/review video. If I can ask a question about the ZV-1: I am looking at possibly getting one for filming guitar lessons and guitar based products (as seen in my TH-cam channel). Do you think the ZV-1 would fit a person sitting down with a guitar where the camera is about 1m away? This is my fear with this camera. Many thanks!

    Great video . I just won an RX100 vii by auction on eBay for £725 mint condition. I appreciate watching this as it affirms my decision to do this rather than buy a new ZV-1. The only thing I will miss there is the built in ND

    Good comparison. It is frustrating that no camera is ever “perfect” and there are many features of each camera I wish the other had! The RX100 VII is 3 yrs old and the ZV1 is going on 2 years… so perhaps Sony is listening to the feedback & will add those features people seem to want. I am not in the market for a travel compact camera right now. But will be when covid travel restrictions are lifted. I am torn btwn these two. I was also looking at the Canon GX7III… but crossed it off my list for the universal opinion that the auto focus has serious problems. Perhaps Canon will fix that in the next update as well. It also is a few years old already. But with covid still impacting the chip makers, it could be awhile longer for all these updates.

    i'm not in the market for either of these products, but this was still a really interesting review/comparison! i feel better informed and less likely to impulse purchase them, especially that rx100 which every youtuber seems to own 🤣 instead i have a chunky 750d which i've been leaving behind now that i have an iphone 11 pro max, and i've been really happy with that so far. considering supplementing it with a go pro hero 8 but waiting to see what options the 9 brings or whether i can pick it up at a cheaper price.

      @jamieroundtheworld  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment! Yeah phones are definitely the new 'compact cameras'. If you want a light option that is always on you instead of a large DSLR, phones are now so good it makes total sense! The best camera is the one you have with you.

    I watched this video for the fifth time.. trying to help myself deciding to buy either ZV1 or RX100 VII. I even went to Sony shop and test those products. I’m a phone videographer. The limited range and the quality of the video in Iphone have pushed me to source a camera. Still in quandary whether to buy zv1 (simple function) or rx.. (long lens for more creative content)..

    I own a Rx100 m6, im not liking the stabilizer for videos nor the 2.8 lens i find its too dark. I mainly use my camera for family videos and pics. Would you say its worth ( for the things I dnt like on my camera)getting a ZV-1 ?

    with usb c, sony could use a usb c to headphone adapter without needing much space- some fuji cameras have this feature.

    Comparing the Sony ZV-1, RX100 VII and dlsr and only put pictures on of the RX100, right at the end of a 17 minute long video.
    How can we ever compare these camera's?

  • @javabrown4851

    I am in the market of buying pocket-able camera, been reading watching comparison between RX100 VII and ZV-1, still cant decide it. I have Sony Alpha camera, this one is not handy for travelling, bulky, and need a separate bulky case. I want camera that is ready to point and shoot fast from my pocket. Why so difficult to decide it???

    so if i look something for start vlogging and make some photos too the rx100vii its better, whit one smallring cage and one extra mic and maybe some light it will be better than the zv1?

    • @jamieroundtheworld
      @jamieroundtheworld  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think with either camera it would be worth buying a small rig cage/mic/light in addition - the RX100 VII just offers you a lot more options for photography in particular. It really depends how much you care about the photo side of things and which lens you prefer.

    • @juanphysique

      @@jamieroundtheworld
      In conclusion you want to spend less and you dont care about the materials and the photos go for the zv1
      but if you want durability better materials and also take photos rx100vii is the option, filter adapter would not bad for those complicated exposures, right?

    How good is ZV-1 for cinematic videos?

    • @jamieroundtheworld
      @jamieroundtheworld  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Depends on what exactly you want to use it for... The super high frame rates, stabilisation, picture profiles and ND filters can all be used to achieve some really nice motion if you know what you're doing. It also has a wider aperture than the RX100 VII, so it can achieve a shallower depth of field and blurry backgrounds - however this will still never be as good as a larger cameras simply because they have larger sensors and wider aperture lenses.
      So the ZV-1 can achieve fairly cinematic footage in a tiny package if you need something that is mega-portable and easy - however if cinematic style is your first priority then I would go for a larger sensor camera where you can refine the look, and better learn the principles of cinematography.

    • @Kapilbabel
      @Kapilbabel 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jamie Brown i intend to start travel vlogs with few cinematic videos..was thinking of purchasing zv1 and if vlogging works well, then maybe purchase a costlier camera later (something like a7 iii? )

    • @jamieroundtheworld
      @jamieroundtheworld  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Kapil Babel in that case the ZV-1 would probably be great! If you’re getting started, an all in one package means you won’t have to worry about deciding on lenses or filters and can get on with making content and learning how to film. Then if you do decide to get a larger mirrorless later on the ZV-1 will still be a great secondary camera that can be used alongside it 👍

  • @goldreserve
    @goldreserve 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Pretty severe cropping with active stabilization on zv-1 so still need a gimbal or accept narrow fov. For vlogging neither of them can compete with a good $500 camcorder.
